Chapter 2: Stepbrother

Lucy POV

What's going on? Why is my head so dizzy?

And wait, why do I feel like something is stuck down there?

With pain I moved my body forward to remove it. It was so painful like my body was being split into two.

What the hell, I had slept with a man I never meet before? I also lost my virginity that I've kept for 25 years in just one night!

I'm so ashamed, I don't want this man to see me again. I'll just shrug it off as an accident and try to forget about it.

I grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around me then while carrying the clothes that were scattered on the floor, I went to the bathroom.

My look was a complete mess. I look like I've been through a storm.

What exactly happened to me last night? Why did I end up in this place with him? I think last night after my shift was over, I went to the rest room to....

Wait, oh my! This is my own fault. I asked that man to sleep with me to forget Matthew.

Oh my God, what should I do now? I don't have a cell phone or money to leave here. There's no way I'm going back to the hospital in this condition especially since I have the day off. My coworkers might get suspicious because I came in on my day off.

Okay first I need to clean that man's cum off my body then take a shower and leave. I can either walk or call a taxi.

I do everything quickly before he wakes up. Now I'm a little more presentable than before. Lastly before leaving this room, I paused for a moment to look at the man's face.

It was still ringing in my ears when he told the bartender and also when he asked me when he was going to put his in. Argh, why am I being nasty!

While walking past the bed, my foot accidentally stepped on his wallet. How surprised I was when I saw the contents. Inside was his ID card and membership card stating that he was a doctor from the same hospital as me!

He was Dr. Luke, a surgeon, as well as the youngest department head in the hospital.

Gosh, what if he recognizes me when we pass each other at the hospital? What if he brings up tonight? Oh my God, I'm really finished.

I didn't know how my bag and its contents were already in this room, so I just grabbed everything I had and left the room.

I'm really still in shock because last night I didn't recognize his face at all. Even his face was quite different from his ID card. At the hospital he wore glasses with his bangs forward whereas last night and today, his bangs were neatly styled. So how could I recognize him?

I didn't want to be the subject of gossip for breaking up with my boyfriend who was a resident doctor and then having a one-night stand with the head of the surgery department. That would be really bad news and a loss for me, gosh!

My phone rang, mom was calling.

[Where are you? Why aren't you home? Lucy, we may be in a lot of debt but that doesn't mean you're free to wander around out there. You didn't sell yourself to a man did you?]

I clenched my fists, even my mother couldn't believe her own daughter. “Even if I don't have a dime in my wallet, I won't become a prostitute!”

[Good, then go home. We're going to meet your stepdad I've been talking about. We're getting married soon so come.]

I smiled wryly even though she couldn't see me. “So how are you different from a prostitute?” Then I hung up the phone and stopped a taxi to go home.

Mom, she's getting married to a rich man. I didn't mind who she was getting married to but that man was Mr. Peterson, the most dangerous man she needed to avoid.

I know we really need financial support especially to support mom's company, but I don't think getting married in a hurry is the solution. Not to mention facing his extended family who might not accept us.

Well despite my grumbling, I still went to the dinner that was organized to discuss their marriage. The venue was at Mr. Peterson's house.

We dressed up quite formally because my mother said that by dressing appropriately, I could give a good impression to her future husband and also my future stepbrother who was said to prefer neatness. Surprisingly, I can still look this beautiful even though I was heartbroken yesterday. Thanks to the lessons of my mother who told me that love doesn't fill our stomachs, so yesterday's situation was like a movie that quickly ran out of steam. Plus the incident last night is bothering me more now than the memories of Matthew.

As soon as our car arrived, the gate opened automatically, and there were several guards lined up in front of the entrance like welcoming the president.

Look at this gap, with this situation how can two very different families come together? My stepfather-to-be is a fabulously wealthy tycoon while my family, we're just scraping by. He had his men pick us up in a limousine and included buying the clothes we are wearing now with the excuse that his son is very picky so since he knows his son's taste, he wanted us to wear those clothes.

“What did he see in you? Why did he suddenly want to marry you? Did you tell him about my father's condition?”

She pinched my hand. “Be quiet. Be graceful and don't say anything if not asked. Don't bring up your father's name, we're divorced."
