Chapter 6: Sorry I Lied

Lucy POV

I took Luke's hand. But just as our hands touched, blood suddenly flowed from his temple. Matthew, who I thought was unconscious, hit Luke on the head with a block.

"Luke!"

It felt like my life was snatched as I saw Luke lying next to me clutching his head. I was still processing the scene when Matthew pulled my body to stand up. "We need to talk. You need to come to my house."

"I won't!"

I struggled with all my strength but I wasn't much stronger than him. My body was dragged but my legs were held by something that turned out to be Luke's hands. He held my legs tightly so Matthew couldn't take me away.

Slowly Luke got up and punched Matthew. The fight started again. This time it was more brutal and violent. There wasn't much I could do. I can only try to separate them because if I yell for help and ask the security team, our reputation will be ruined and everyone will know that I'm pregnant.

Maybe this was stupid but I didn't care anymore. As long as the fighting stops, then I'll do anything.

I bit Matthew's arm so hard that it bled. That made Matthew shake his hand. And unfortunately he did it too hard and hit my stomach.

My body bounced from Matthew's push and I fell on the floor. The pain couldn't be explained in words. It was like a needle stabbing my stomach. I had to curl up to crush my stomach with my knees. I hear Luke swearing but I don't know what's going on because my vision is blurred.

I'm still conscious but it's completely dark. I still feel Luke's hand between my thigh and head. I also still feel the pain in my stomach. It's just that I can't respond to the questions that come to me. Even when my body had touched the soft mattress, I still didn't see anything.

Until a bright light finally came into view slowly as my eyes were forcefully opened. "Lucy? Did you hear me?"

It was Luke's voice. It seemed like he was checking my pupils' reflexes.

Oh crap, am I in the emergency room right now? Luke isn't taking me home?

This is so bad, I can't let him do further checks or he'll find out that I'm pregnant! At least not now since our parents' wedding hasn't taken place yet. If my pregnancy is revealed now, then Luke might do something to ruin mom's plans.

I blinked my eyes and dismissed Luke's hand that held the penlight. "I'm fine." I forced myself to sit up. "You should take me home."

"You need to undergo an additional examination. After you were hit in the stomach by that bastard, you passed out immediately. We have to make sure everything is okay. After that I'll take you home."

Everyone looked at me. Maybe they were surprised that I came with Luke who also had a cut on his temple.

"We were involved in a minor accident. Help me arrange a follow-up examination for Lucy."

"Yes dr. Luke."

It seems to be true that no one dares to refuse an order from the son of the owner of this hospital. Because then they were pushing the gurney for another examination.

I squeezed my hand tightly as Luke pushed my wheelchair towards the obgyn's room. This is the last check-up before he takes me home. The other checkups were clear, there was nothing wrong with me.

"You need to treat your wound too."

"It's just a scratch."

What else do I need to do to distract Luke and run away?

"What about Matthew? Where is he?"

The wheelchair stopped. Luke sighed. "After what he did to you, you're still worried about his condition? Too bad I didn't break his arms or legs."

"You can't do that, Luke. He's a doctor too. If you broke his arms or legs, how would he work?"

"If it was you who was hit on the head and you got amnesia, how would you work?"

Damn, Luke flipped the question. He's so tough.

"I'm fine. You've also confirmed at every examination that there's no problem. I collapsed from exhaustion and stress, that's all."

"You don't remember you clutching your stomach so tightly like you were afraid of losing something? When you see the CCTV footage, you'll know that you were looking like dying earlier."

This was useless, he was going to take me for an ultrasound. So I jumped off the wheelchair.

"Where are you going?"

God, why is he so fast! He managed to restrain my body and return me to the wheelchair.

"Why are you so scared to come into this room? Calm down, it's not like you're going for a pregnancy test."

Luke, if you knew that this examination would also reveal my pregnancy, maybe you would have retracted your words.

Unfortunately, I couldn't escape anymore when Luke opened the door to this room. The obgyn who knows me well greets us. She's worried about the accident that Luke has cooked up.

And this was the climax, when the transducer is put to my stomach. The secret I'd been keeping was revealed. I couldn't dodge it anymore with such clear evidence.

"You're pregnant dr. Lucy? It's about four weeks. Wow, congratulations."

Luke immediately looked at me as if asking for an explanation. Meanwhile, Matthew suddenly walked in and pushed Luke aside.

Yes Luke, I'm pregnant with your child. That one-night stand isn't over yet. Now there is a life that I carry wherever I go, a part of you too. But if I'm honest with you, will that provide a solution? I don't think so. So please don't step in now. Let my mom reach her goal and then I'll think about myself.

"5 years is not a short time. We've done it many times with or without protection. And the child she is carrying is my child."

I could only turn my face aside, avoiding Luke's gaze after Matthew pretended to admit that this baby was the result of our relationship. I had lost all shame in letting Matthew reveal the kind of relationship we never had in front of the other doctors and in front of Luke.

I'm sorry Luke, I know how dangerous your family is so I have to protect my mom too. And hiding the truth about who the father of this baby is, is the best I can do. Because if your father finds out, then all of our lives are at risk.
