Chapter 6 Vicious Aunt

"Mommy, where are we going?" The little Larry asked while glancing out of the window when he noticed that it was not their way back home.

"I am taking you to see Uncle Morris. He is a very kind hearted man and mommy is sure that you would like him as soon as you see him." Ruby replied and rubbed her son's hairs dotingly.

This afternoon, she got a call from her uncle that he wants to invite her for dinner. And moreover, he also told her to bring her son. And Ruby was glad to hear that because this was the first time that her uncle let her to bring her son.

Because, her uncle was an old fashioned man and he didn’t like the idea of having children before marriage. Although, Ruby got Larry to save him, he didn't know that Ruby got this child because of surrogating. And Ruby didn't tell him either. He only knows that while Ruby was abroad to finish her studies, she accidently got pregnant and came back home and that's why Uncle Morris doesn't like Larry that much.

Soon, the taxi arrived at a small house. Ruby and Larry got out from the house and knocked the door lightly. While waiting for the door to open, all kinds of emotions rushed into her heart. Once upon a time, the James family was also a rich family and they lived in a luxurious villa. But after the bankruptcy, her uncle couldn’t rebuild the company. And moreover, Ruby was the one who pay back for his debts.

"Ruby. My dear, I have been missing you." The one who opened the door was Uncle Morris himself and he hugged Ruby warmly as soon as he sees her.

"I miss you too uncle." Ruby felt happy and sad at the same time when she saw how Uncle Morris looks so much older than before.

"Oh! This must be our little Larry." Uncle Morris bent down slightly and patted Larry's head. Larry never like to be patted on the head but he kept quiet this time because he saw how much his mother looked happy to see uncle Morris.

"Hello, uncle Morris, I am Larry. Nice to meet you." The little boy greeted politely.

And they went into the house and Ruby and her uncle was chatting while waiting for the dinner to be ready and Ruby let her son play in the courtyard of the house.

"It has been a long time since we see each other in person. I am so sorry for not inviting you earlier. After all, Larry is still a good child." Uncle Morris took Ruby's hand and patted it while saying emotionally.

"It's okay uncle. How are you doing these days?"

"I am fine. But why don’t' you tell me who is Larry's father. After all, …" Before uncle Morris could even finish his words, they heard a cry from the backyard.

Ruby immediately run out of the house and found that her son was crying, covering his one cheek. Larry was never a cry boy and Ruby felt heartbroken when she saw that her son was crying heavily.

And in front of him was a broken flower vase and her cousin, Lucy James. Although Ruby's uncle was a kind hearted man, Lucy has the opposite character as him. She was short temper and jealous woman and she always bully Ruby when they were young. But Ruby just kept silent because she was just a niece after all.

"Who brought this bastard into the house? Look at him, he broke my flower vase." Lucy was shouting with rage and Ruby understands immediately that it was mostly like Larry broke Lucy's flower vase accidently.

At first Ruby thought about apologizing on behalf of her son but when she saw the red handprint on her son's face, she got angry immediately.

And turned around angrily and looked at Lucy in the eyes, "How dare you slap an innocent child just because of a flower vase?"

Lucy was shocked at first because she never thought that she would dare to shout back at her but after a moment, she snorted and said, "Oh! Look. Who is here? I must say that this little brat is the same as his mother. So, he has no manners at all. Like mother like son. And moreover, things became worse when he doesn't know who is real father is." Lucy mocked but she didn't expect that she would be slapped in the next moment.

"Ruby… How dare you hit me?" Lucy was trembling form anger when the slap was so hard that she even fell on the ground.

"Believe it or not, if you dare to say one more word, I will slap you again." With that Ruby picked up her son and turned around but a voice suddenly stopped her.

"You stop right there. How dare you to hit my daughter? You are such an ungrateful woman. We raised you for twenty years but you didn’t learn how to grateful but you learn how to bully my daughter." A woman run over there and picked up Lucy.

The woman was none other than Lia James, literally, her nominal aunt. But she was also the one who forced Ruby to surrogate and pay back the debts for her uncle. Ruby always had to afraid of her aunt because her aunt always says that if she didn’t allow her uncle to bring her into the house, she would be still in the orphanage. Ruby always listen to her aunt but she didn't want to be a coward anymore when she sees that they were definitely bullying her son.

So, Ruby snorted and said, "You knows the best that whether I am ungrateful person or not." With that Ruby went back home after saying a simple goodbye to her uncle.

When she got back her house, she treated Larry's face and she called her uncle and apologized.

"I am sorry uncle. You can scold me that I acted too impulsively but my heart was broken when I saw that Larry was beaten."

"Haha, why should I scold you?" Her uncle didn’t sound like angry but instead, his sound looked amused.

"But I hit Lucy." Ruby was still nervous to face with her uncle.

Her uncle sighed and said, "Ruby, I have been watching you since young. I can see that you are a kindhearted girl but that mislead you to be bullied easily. And you never fought back too. But today, I can see that you finally find learn how to fight back since you have someone to protect. I am so happy to finally see you in this state."

Ruby sighed with relief when she saws that her uncle didn’t blame her at all but he even praised her. She chatted with her uncle for a while and she went to bed happily.

"Mom, it's so hurt." The one who complied was not Larry but Lucy. When Lia saw that her daughter was in pain, her eyes turned vicious immediately, "That's all that b*tch fault. I shouldn't have shown mercy to her and teach her more in the past."

"But mom, how did she became that brave?" Lucy asked her mother with a confused tone.

"Maybe she thought that our family owns her some debts after her surrogacy." Lia's eyes never show guilt whenever she talks about Lucy's surrogacy.

"Then mom, what should we do? Do I need to endure the humiliation just like that?"

"How could that be, my dear daughter. Don't worry. I will make her pay for what she had done." And Lia sneered viciously.

The next day, Ruby was doing her daily work at the office when her name was called by unfamiliar voice.

"Who is Ruby James? Get out. You still haven't pay us the 5 thousand dollars." And then they broke the vase which was placed as the decoration in the office.

Not realizing what was happening, Ruby got out and met with the man. "Who are you all? I have never seen anyone of you and what is the 5thousand dollar?" Ruby was confused that why the three hooligans with tattoos on the arms would suddenly find her at her work and ask for money.

"Well, since you are a James, you must pay for the money that another James has borrowed." One of the man who has an ugly scar on his face said.

"That's nonsense. I didn’t borrow the money and you have no right to ask the money back from me. And if you don't leave immediately, I will immediately call the police." Ruby knows that her company is a small one and the security force is also too little. That's why they couldn't stop the three hooligans at the entrance too.

"Well, you can choose not to pay but after all, Lucy James doesn’t have a son at kindergarten but you have. So, you can choose not to pay but you can't stop us to say hello to your lovely son." The other man said with a smirk with a chewing gun in his mouth.

"How dare you? Don't touch my son." Ruby was panicked.

"Okay, pretty girl, you better pay right now or don’t say that we didn't give you the chance." The last man said waving his baseball bat in his hand.

Ruby glanced around the office and saw that everyone was looking at those hooligans with disgust but seems like no one wants to help her. And at the end, Ruby couldn’t do anything but withdraw all the money in her account and pay them.

"Hey little beauty, it is nice to work with you." Those men leave as soon as they got the money.

But when Ruby got back into her office, she saw that her superior was standing at her desk with a paper box. "Miss James, we have already packed up all your belongings and it is ready for you to leave this company and never come back."
