Chapter 17

There was a loud crackling of fire in the cave, casting ominous shadows on its walls. The flames flared up, crackling and spitting, sending sparks into the already dark cave. A warm light radiated from the flames, illuminating the roughewn stone walls. Huddled up by the fire, I was covered in layers of warm fur blankets. I clutched it tightly like it was about to be yanked off at any moment. My eyelids were heavy. I could see a figure sitting beside the fire covered from head to toe. The figure threw sticks into the fire occasionally. The flames would shoot up again , sending out sparks .

I felt warmer now .

I had struggled in the water for long , my body had almost frozen. At some point,I suddenly felt warm, I knew it was the end of me . My body was conserving all the warmth it had left, I was going to die .

My skin had turned pale with cold . Just when I had given up on being rescued, I felt a huge hand wrap itself around my waist , and scoop me out of the water. That was the last t
