Chapter 18

The horses throttled slowly, making their way back to the city gates. It was a solemn procession. I held the urn that had housed father's ashes minutes back. My pack had assembled to send him off. We had no pack bond but we would always turn up for each other whenever the need arose. They had all come to mourn my father.

Our kind was rare, we were really few.

We had just dad's two brothers and their kids. We didn't give birth to pups in litters like the normal wolves did.

Legion my dad's brother spent his whole life searching for a son, but his kids never exceeded the two girls he had. His second brother Lego had all sons. He was in hibernation at the volcano down the black creek. A dangerous place that spits fire, year in, year out.

He was going to be back in a thousand years. His boys had turned out to be impressive gentlemen. They were all strong and brave men.
