Chapter 6.

Calista POV.

“Tell me what you meant about your situation being complicated?” Leo asks as I look at each of my new mates. I must say they are all drop dead gorgeous. How the fuck Gaia doesn’t want anything to do with any of us is beyond me. Yes, granted her insecurity stems from her cousin’s mate. But she can’t tar us all with the same bloody brush, can she?

“Well, I have been at Gaia’s side since she was six years old. She made me the ruler of Hell until she became of age to take over at 18. When she was 11, she witnessed her cousin Alpha of Alpha’s Dahlia Blackwood deal with the betrayal of her mate. Bearing in mind her mate was older than her and would have known when he was 18 that Dahlia was his mate. However, he continued his relationship with his girlfriend and got her pregnant. When Dahlia turned 18, not only did she find her mate, it came to light that her mate had a pup on the way with another. This caused Dahlia to reject him. But he wasn’t going to accept the rejection until Gaia tried to force him to accept it, he rejected the rejection. So since that day, she blocked the mate bond until yesterday when Selene, her aunty, broke that magical barrier. After she found out her magic was broken, she left to confront the Moon Goddess herself. When she returned well, her father came to have a chat with her. I don’t know what they discussed, but all I know is she hasn’t spoken to me or seen me until she ran.” I tell them and they look at each other. When Leo sighs running a hand through his hair.

“Well, while we are being honest. I need to tell her the truth of who I am.” I look at him in confusion when he stands and paces the room.

“My dad is responsible for the death of thousands of rogues, humans and wiped out packs. They wiped out the Dark Moon Pack.” I growl, you have got to be fucking kidding me! He is the son of Sampson Kingsley, the leader of the rogues who caused the fucking war.

I place my hands on top of my head. Fuck! Oh, Gaia will fucking freak out. She will no doubt try to kill him for what his father did. Hold on, if Sampson was his father does that mean Crystal was his mom?

“Before you ask, no, that whore was not my mom. I never really knew my dad. But I can see how this looks. Yes, I am the Rogue King. But I am nothing like my father.” I can’t believe this. If Gaia was ever justified in rejecting any of us, it will be him she is justified in rejecting.

“When she finds out she will kill you, I hope you know this. Your dad wiped out her grandfather’s pack. Her mom was the sole heir to that pack and now her brother is the Alpha. Man, this is fucked up!” I say as I grab the vodka from the shelf and grab a glass, filling it to the brim as I gulp it down and hiss as it burns.

When I hear a whimper, I lift my gaze as I look at Gabriel, who has clutched his heart when I feel the stabbing pain in my heart. My eyes widen no. she isn’t.

“What is happening?” Jake Gasps out as we all fall to our knees and groan out.

“Pains of betrayal.” I groan out. I can’t breathe as I roll onto my back. No, Gaia wouldn’t do this. This is her magic.

“Get up and go to her now. She will kill herself doing this.” My wolf, Diablo, winces as I use his strength to pull myself up. Raising a shaky hand, I open a portal as he hauls me up and I stagger, clutching my chest. The other’s follow behind me. I open the mind link to Gaia and scream at her through the link. When all I hear is laughter.

“Come on.” I stagger through as I try to hold it open as Leo, Gabriel, and Jake stagger through. Gaia screams as we stagger towards her bedroom. I push my legs to run before she fucking kills herself.

Landing against the door, I try to open it, but the door doesn’t budge when Leo kicks the door and the door opens, falling from it’s hinges as I see Gaia naked on the floor. Blood streaming from her nose and eyes. I gasp as I run towards her. I grab her up in my arms, pulling her limp, naked form into my lap.

“What have you done?” I gasp out as she smiles at me before her eyes close and her head rolls.

“Gaia, Gaia. No, don’t you fucking dare!” I shout as I shake her. Placing my ear to her chest, her heartbeat is faint. Panic grips me. What do I do?

“Move!” Jake bites into his wrist as Gabriel opens her mouth. Jake’s blood trickles into her mouth. When her heart stops and I scream in pain.

“Gaia, no. Wake up. You can’t leave me, please. Kodiak!” I scream as tears leave my eyes.

“Mark her, it is the only way!” An ethereal voice floats around us. My gums tingle as I move her blood-soaked hair away from her neck. I move closer to her when I hear it. Her heartbeat it’s faint, but it’s there.

“Do it, or she dies!” I shake my head as I bite my wrist and trickle my blood in her to mouth.

“No I won’t mark her by force. Selene!” I scream out with a growl when she gasps. I choke on a sob as I clutch her to my chest.

“Gaia, what were you thinking?” I say as I kiss her face. Her gaze locks on mine when she turns her gaze to our mates before she growls loudly. Her skin heats as the darkness bursts out of her as Kodiak shifts. as she charges at Leo and tackles him just as he shifts into his wolf. My eyes widen as I scramble to stand. She will kill him for what his father did.

Fur and blood coat the floor as they both fight. Whimpers and snarls echo around the room as they clash violently. When his wolf twists and grabs Kodiak by the scruff of her neck and flings her to the floor. My breath catches in my throat when he stalks closer to her as she lies on her belly, whimpering and whining.

I know this play; she is pretending to lure him and when he is close enough, she will rip his throat out. I run and stand in between them to stop it from happening.

“Stand down Kodiak, now!” she growls at me before she lunges at me, ripping into my chest when she is ripped off of me and thrown across the room. She lands against the wall with a thud.

“Just like your father.” She says as she shifts back into her human form. When she raises her hands and I shout. But it’s too late as a portal opens and she is grabbed by Selene and Lycaon.

She is slammed into the floor by Selene when her screams stop. We all bow to her, but not Gaia. Who growls at her in full defiance.

“GAIA!” she screams in her face. When Gaia’s claws swipe at Selene’s throat, causing her to drop her.

“Not anymore. I call on the power of the ancients. I call upon the Harbinger of death. Come to me. I command it!” the palace shakes as I watch as the power takes hold of Gaia before it bursts out of her and we all get thrown when she stands looking at each of us. When Leo grabs her from behind before his fangs elongate and he tries to mark her. She turns and grabs him as she snarls at him when Lycaon shift into his Lycan and he grabs her, tackling her to the ground. Knocking her unconscious.

“She will be ok. We need to contain her. She is trying to get you to reject her by using the bond. I’m sorry, Gaia, this needs to end,” Selene says as she strokes her face.

“Is there a way, so she doesn’t remember this?” I ask Selene and she looks at me before she nods.

“Yes, but if she remembers, she will hate us for it. I can erase everything, only what she has done tonight.” I nod as I take in her words.

“Do it, erase it from her. Let her wake up tomorrow, not knowing what she did. I will take the responsibility if she ever remembers.” I tell her as I scoop Gaia up in my arms and carry her back to the bathroom to clean her up.

I sob as I hold her to me. “Why do you have to be so fucking stubborn? I love you.” I kiss her forehead when Selene comes into the bathroom with a long shirt for her.

I watch as she places a finger on her forehead as she pulls the memories of what happened out.

“She will wake in a few days and she won’t remember what happened here tonight. Which is for the best. When she wakes, make sure you are here with her. I can’t manipulate her into accepting any of you, but show her what it is like to be with someone who loves her. I can’t see her die Calista. I love her too much.”

“It will be done. I promise you, Selene, I can’t lose her.” When she wakes up, that is when the hard work starts. My Gaia, I will not let her die.
