Chapter 5 An Inescapable Lust

Sadie’s POV

"Do you think I’ve gained weight?" I asked Nicky from behind while facing the mirror.

I was trying hard to check my stomach for any sign of change.

I didn’t miss the sigh that escaped from my friend when she heard my question.

"For the hundredth time, Sadie—nothing’s going to change in your body yet, for crying out loud! It’s been barely 24 hours since something happened between you two. I don’t even know if his sperm has met your egg cell yet!" she said exasperatedly.

"For your information, sperm can reach the egg in 15 to 45 minutes, and fertilization happens within hours," I replied, smiling before turning to face her.

"Great! Then congratulations, you're pregnant!" she announced with fake excitement.

I chose to ignore what she said and turned back to the mirror. I couldn't really blame her since the moment she woke me up, that was the first thing I asked.

I smiled as I looked again at my still-flat stomach. There was no certainty yet, but I was hopeful.

I had done countless online searches and asked around just to be sure that my chances of getting pregnant were high. I even went to the doctor to confirm I was fertile.

"That’s enough. Let’s eat. The baby in your belly might be hungry already," she teased me again, but I didn’t bother responding.

More than 24 hours had passed, and I could say a lot had already happened in that short amount of time.

I couldn’t help but think about the stranger I was with the other night.

The memory of our steamy encounter came rushing back, making me feel something I couldn’t quite explain as a woman.

"Are you okay, Sadie? Why do you look flushed?"

It felt like someone poured cold water on me when I heard Nicky’s voice. When I opened my eyes, I saw her looking at me curiously.

I wanted the ground to swallow me whole, but of course, that didn’t happen. So, I just braved it and gave her a weak smile.

"It’s… hot," I said as an excuse.

I decided to just focus on eating and stop overthinking. I didn’t want to end up doing something embarrassing that I’d regret.

After eating, I offered to wash the dishes. She still had to go to work, while I was on leave—part of my plan to get pregnant.

"Are you sure you’ll be fine here alone?" Nicky asked as she stepped out of her room wearing a smart suit that perfectly hugged her curves.

Nicky was definitely sexier than I was. That’s why so many guys tried to woo my best friend. But none of them ever succeeded, because she was smart enough to know that most guys only wanted one thing. Like me, she wasn’t going to let her life be ruined over a man.

"I’ll be fine. I just need to rest—I’m a bit tired," I answered with a smile.

"If you want, I can have that guy we hired come back over. Might as well make the most of what we paid for," she suggested.

At first, I thought she was joking, but when I saw how serious she looked, I realized she actually meant it.

"You’re crazy. I’m just going to rest—I’m really tired."

"You look like it. Looks like Mr. Room 612 really wore you out," she teased.

"Why you—"

But before I could finish what I was going to say, she was already laughing as she walked out the door.

I just shook my head while staring at the door she had exited through. I was used to Nicky. Even if she could be a bit naughty, I knew she was a real friend—reliable and loyal, and I was the same with her.

When I was finally alone, I decided to take a shower. I went into my room to grab a change of clothes and my toiletries, then headed to the bathroom and took everything off.

"Uhh…" I couldn’t help but moan softly as the warm water hit my skin.

Every stream of water on my bare body brought such comfort—especially to the most sensitive part.

I could still feel the soreness in that area. It seemed like it would take a few days before I fully recovered.

I thought back to what happened that night. Then, as if on cue, I remembered him. Even now, I still don’t understand how he managed to fit that inside me.

Good thing I took a few days off to recover.

Now that I was alone in the privacy of the bathroom, I was free to remember everything that happened with that handsome stranger. Just like earlier, the heat came rushing through my body, starting from my very core.

Before I knew it, my hands were moving to my chest. I bit my lip as I felt my hardened nipples, even giving them a slight pinch.

Still unsatisfied, my right hand began to travel lower—but I was suddenly scandalized when I realized what I was about to do.

"What’s wrong with you?" I scolded myself in frustration and quickly finished my shower, though that strange feeling still lingered. It seemed like it wouldn’t go away anytime soon.

Let’s just say the father of my future child made a lasting impression on me. I only hoped this feeling would fade someday.

After showering and getting dressed, I decided to pass the time in the living room. But before that, I headed to the fridge to grab a beer.

Just as I was about to drink it, I froze, remembering I wanted to get pregnant.

It had been a while since I last drank, and I missed it. But I had to endure.

"It will be worth it, Sadie. Just hang in there," I told myself for encouragement.

I just grabbed two apples and went straight to the living room to watch TV. But no matter how hard I tried to focus on what I was watching, I couldn’t get that man—and everything he did and made me feel—out of my mind.

I remembered again Nicky’s suggestion to call and use the services of the male escort I had paid for.

Not because I was actually considering following her advice, but because I knew that no man could ever compare to the father of my child.

And besides, there’s absolutely no chance that I’ll ever be intimate with another man again.

Once more, I felt that desire stirring in my body—something that now seemed like it was here to stay—and I kept trying to fight it off.

"This is going to be a long day," I thought to myself.

I started to wonder if I should regret taking a leave today. If I were at work, at least I’d have something to distract me, and I wouldn’t be stuck thinking all these inappropriate thoughts.
