The Library Small Incident

"A witch," chuckled Keegan. He walked around Lyla who actually wasn't intimidated by the young man at all. His hand grabbed a handful of Lyla's hair and inhaled deeply, making the girl turn around and brushed Keegan's hand away.

"Your hair smells like spice." He chuckled.  "Are you wictches always stuck in the kitchen?"

Lyla's hands clenched. Again and again. She had always been the object of bullying. Even in a school where all students were Freakies, she was still a target. This was absolutely unacceptable. Lyla had enough with it.

"Hei, are you mute? Deaf? Can you hear what I said? You can talk, can't you?" fishing Keegan.  His desire was so passionate that he wanted to start a conflict with this girl in front of him.  He had never liked witches---bloodsuckers had never liked their existence. It had been like that for hundreds of years.

Witches didn't deserve to be among the Freakies. They are just ordinary people who happened to have brilliant brains and able to create concoctions that made them seem to have powers. They even created potions for immortality.

They thought they could be on par with the Freakies purebloods. Just look at the Witch class in this school, every day the students had to go to the forest to find rare plants. It really made Keegan want to laugh.

"I have no business with you!" She insisted.

"Ow, you have guts apparently." Keegan's grin appeared showing his sharp canine teeth.

"Do you think your newly grown fangs make me scared?"

Keegan escaped his laugh. "My fangs can pierce your neck and suck your blood dry."

"Get away from me!" Lyla raised a hand and pushed him forward. It didn't hit Keegan's chest but instead, the young man was pushed back a few steps.

Keegan's eyes widened. He was slightly surprised by what the brown haired girl had just done. While Lyla smiled cynically at Keegan's facial expression. "You think we're only good at making potions?"

Keegan smirked again. He didn't like this. The bully's target dared to fight back. He bet this girl didn't know who he was. Otherwise she wouldn't be messing around with him. This girl had to know who she was dealing with.

He sped up until he looked like a black shadow. In just a few seconds, he was behind Lyla and grabbed the girl's neck. His fangs were ready to sink there.

Lyla turned around, took a few steps back, and pushed her hand forward. Keegan was pushed back a few steps. Had not had time to reply to Lyla's attack, his neck seemed to be choking when the girl moved her fingers.

"I could easily break your neck right now!"  Lyla smiled slyly.

"In your dream, Witch!" Keegan raised a hand, made a motion as if he was gripping something, then flung it aside.

"Argh!" Lyla screamed as she's holding her wrist which felt like it was sprained.

"Hey! You guys are so noisy!" shouted Mr. Burgog from the end of the shelf, making Keegan discourage from attacking Lyla again.

"Making a fuss one more time, you will be fined!" cried Mr. Burgog back.

Keegan grinned as he walke past Lyla and nudged her shoulder hard. "Welcome to Gothic Academy, Witch." He whispered.

Lyla hissed. She checked on her wrist, which was still sore. There seemed to be a bruise there, and a bit of a fingernail scratch. "Damn it!" She grew furious.

"Hei, what happened to your whrist?" asked Louisa when she saw the bruise on Lyla's arms.

"Nothing. Just a little incident in the library." Lyla lied while covering the bruise with the edge of her sleeve. Her attention was drawn to the long-legged glass in Louisa's hand, which contained a thick red liquid.

"Does this school have stock of human blood for you guys?" she asked.

"Oh, it's animal blood. Don't worry." Louisa said as she took a sip of the red liquid from the glass. The girl licked the remaining blood on her lips. "Pretty tasty though. Even still our favorite is human blood." She continued with a chuckle.

Lyla snorted softly. Then she glanced around.  The dining room was already very crowded with students who were going to enjoy dinner. The Goblins who served them seemed to have memorized the menu for each type of creatures.

"What will happen if you eat this garlic?" Lyla said as she stabbed one whole garlic clove in the bread.

"Ah, get that thing away from me." Louisa screamed while crossing her palms in front of her face, making Lyla laughed.

"Your reaction is too much," said Lyla.

"We hate garlic. It contains antibiotics that can kill us," explains Louisa.

"Can you get killed just by looking at it? Why are you being so overbearing?" said Lyla as she's chewing a piece of bread.

"Our brains are wired to stay away from that thing." Louisa muttered. "Don't joke about that with me, Lyla!"

Their conversation was interrupted by the presence of two girls dressed in black who---without permission---sat with them.  Both of them stared at Lyla sharply.

"Hei, New Girl, I heard you're from The Helliwells." One of them spoke. Her gaze intimidated Lyla.

"Yeah, so?" she asked. From their appearances, Lyla could tell that the two girls were also witches.

"You know your family's reputation among us, don't you? A troublesome family who is under the supervision of the Witch Council," said another---the girl with a round face.

"So what?" asked Lyla as she's challenging the sharp gaze of the two girls.

"I'm Deborah Coffey. I'm the head of the Witch class. And she's Sarah Litcher, my second-in-command. We want to make sure your troublemaker genetic won't make problem here." Lyla hissed at Deborah's words.

"Everything that happens in the Witch class, has to be conveyed to us. Do you understand?" She continued.

Lyla shrugged. "Whatever." She muttered.

"We are serious. This is a warning for you. Don't you dare to harm our good reputation,  Helliwell." Deborah leaned towards Lyla while pointing directly at the girl's face. Lyla hissed as the two girls left. Her appetite was gone.

"Is it true what they said, Lyla?" asked Louisa.

"What?"

"About your family."

Lyla pounded the table lightly; don't want to catch the attention of everyone in the room.  "My family is not a problem. They are the problem." She said through gritted teeth.

Louisa raised both hands. "I'm just asking." She squeaked.

Lyla let out a sharp breath. Truly, no one around could make her happy. Everyone sucked. This was why Lyla hated school so much. She hated mingling with anybody, even with the witch circle. Too many rules made up.
