(Elaine’s POV)
“Elaine!” It was Asher, and his chirping voice sounded strangely happy to see me.
Was he that happy to see me?
Maybe not. But...
“Oomph!” I was pulled into his arms in a tight hug. The two of us began to sway when he rocked my body as he hummed happily, as if, all the other students who gave him a strange look as they passed the school gates weren’t even exist.
“How was your sleep last night? Did you sleep well?” He leaned in to level his head with mine. In a distance, I saw another figure silently coming closer behind Asher’s back.
I nodded in hesitation, perhaps a signal that Asher seeks as he nodded while heaving a relieved sigh after my response.
“Alright, thanks guys. I’ll contact you later.” Asher said while he stood straight again, eyes gazing between the two unknown guys who safely escorted me all the way to the school gate.
