Chapter 13- on a vacation

Getting out of bed he sat on the edge, rubbing his eyes. He wasn’t able to get much sleep, he tossed and turned all night. He was worried about how Anastasia was going to behave after turning her down. After taking a quick shower he got dressed and was on his way to see her when he almost bumped into the maid coming from her room.

“Morning Mr. Jake,” she said, giving him a friendly smile.

“Is Miss Bruce still in her room?”

“Yes sir, she’s a little under the weather and asked me to bring her breakfast up to her.”

“Thank you,” he said and when she left he went and knocked on her door and entered when she told him to. “I hear you’re not feeling well.”

“Oh Jake ,” she said, rubbing her temples. “I’m afraid I had too much champagne last night. I hope I didn’t do anything to embarrass you or myself.” She reached for her juice and took a drink before continuing. “I’m afraid last night was a bit of a blur. Can you share some light on what I did?”

He was glad that she didn’t remember the kiss,
