Roberta's POV

He leaned forward in his chair and looked at me.

"If you want to make them pay for what they did, I'd like to help." he said.

I looked at him.

"I mean it." His voice was quiet but certain.

"I didn't ask—"

"I know." He cut me off. Not harsh. Just firm. "But I'm offering anyway. Let me help you."

I looked at him. The firelight made shadows under his eyes. Made his jaw look sharper.

"How exactly are you going to help me?"

"For starters, come work for me." He said it simply like it

Brett’s POVThe kiss lingered between us, and when we finally pulled apart, Roberta’s lips were slightly parted, her cheeks flushed, and her eyes held mine with a softness that made my chest ache. Rain continued to streak down the windows, but all I could focus on was the woman in front of me.“You’re incredible,” I whispered. My hand stayed on her cheek, thumb gently stroking her skin. “The way your mind works… the fire in you. I’ve never known anyone stronger or more brilliant.”She smiled, a real, warm smile that reached her eyes. “Thank you, Brett.”The words "I love you" rose up so strongly in my heart that I almost said them out loud. They sat heavy on my tongue, full of everything I felt for her — the awe, the tenderness, the deep, terrifying love that had been growing since the day I first held her while she cried. But I held back. Is it too soon? She was still healing. Still troubled. The weight of everything she's been carrying —ziva, the divorce —I didn’t want to scare her

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    Rain And Reckoning

Roberta's POVThe courtroom air felt thick and stale, like it had been holding its breath for too long. Brett's presence was solid and warm, but his eyes — those deep, searching eyes — were fixed on me with a quiet intensity that made my pulse quicken.“Let’s talk in the car,” I said, my voice low but steady. I wasn’t going to spill everything here, under these watchful walls. He didn’t hesitate. “Okay.”His hand found the small of my back as we stood, a gentle pressure that sent a ripple of comfort through me. We walked out side by side, our footsteps echoing softly down the hallway. The moment we stepped outside, the gloomy sky pressed down on us. Thick, heavy clouds hung low, the colour of damp slate, and the air carried that earthy scent that always comes before rain. A few light drops were already falling, cool and scattered, tapping softly against the pavement.Brett didn’t miss a beat. He kept my hand firmly in his, warm and steady, while his other hand rose to shield me. He he

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    My Revenge Begins Now

Roberta's POV Jace Knows something. He knows that Brett is Ziva's biological father. That was the only thought I had while Jace's words settled over the room like a slow rain. *She knows things. Things that change everything you think you know about her.*He hadn't said it outright. He was too careful for that — too aware of my mother-in-law's threats, too aware of what he stood to lose if he opened that door all the way. But he had opened it a crack and pointed Brett directly at it.And Brett was looking at me now.Not accusingly. Not with suspicion. With the careful, patient attention of a man who was filing something away and waiting for the right moment to open it.I looked down at the table. My hands were folded in my lap and I was making them stay there. The presiding officer cleared her throat."If we're ready to proceed." Nobody argued. She looked at me first."Mrs. Riggs. You are petitioning for the dissolution of your marriage to Jace Riggs on the grounds of sustained abuse

Jace POVShe stared at me. "For real?""For real." I took her hand. "You're the love of my life, Millie. You and Nolan. You're everything. I want to marry you. I can choose her. I can forget about Roberta. I can forget about Roberta. She pulled back. Her eyes were shining."Then you'll sign the divorce papers," she said. "With Roberta. You'll let her go. For good."I opened my mouth. The words wouldn't come.Sign the papers. Choose Millie. Choose Nolan. Choose the family that actually loves you.So why can't I say it?"Jace?"I looked at her. I couldn't say it.That was the truth of it, standing in my own kitchen with Millie's hands on my face and her eyes bright and everything she had waited for finally right there in front of her.She pulled back and looked at me."It's today," she

My body felt heavy.I turned my head. The other side of the bed was empty.Millie wasn't there.I sat up slowly. The room spun. I closed my eyes and waited for it to stop.Where is she?I thought about last night. The fight. The way I had walked out. The way I had driven off without looking back. She probably hates me. She has every right to.I rubbed my face. My jaw was sore. My nose was still tender. The bruises from Brett's fists were fading, but they were still there. A reminder of everything that had happened.I got out of bed. My feet were cold on the floor. I walked to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror.I looked terrible. My eyes were bloodshot. My hair was a mess. There was a cut on my lip that was still healing. What am I doing?I splashed water on my face. It didn't help.I thought about Robert

Roberta's POVThe house was quiet when we got back.Brett opened the door. He stepped aside to let me in first. I walked into the living room and stood there. Everything looked the same. The couch. The pictures on the wall. It felt like I had never left. It felt like I had been gone for years."Are you okay?" he asked.I nodded. I didn't trust my voice. He walked me to my room. The same one I had left earlier that night. The bed was still unmade. I had been ready to walk away from all of this. Now I was back."I'll be right next door," he said. "If you need anything.
