Whitney immediately stopped her continuous demand to be released and looked out of the window.

Everywhere was dark and there was no one in sight.

Maverick looked up getting annoyed and irritated while wondering if he had just made a mistake.

The bodyguard that had forced Maverick to bring her in the cause of his complaints looked away in fear.

He dare not look at his face afraid to see the scary, cold, and possibly annoyed look on his face.

“Tch! So noisy,” Maverick said quietly.

She glared at him and stopped her screaming for a moment because her voice became raspy from shouting.

She was about to say something when his phone vibrated.

He sighed and suddenly looked exhausted as he glanced at the message that entered his cell.

Wondering why the sudden change in his expression, Whitney swallowed what she wanted to say reluctantly.

She altogether decided to quit screaming and watched him lie back on the seat closing his eyes after she had noticed the sudden change in his expression.

'Brother, Tia is crying non-stop again and Ricky is refusing to go to bed and demands he would only after he sees you,' this was the message Maverick read. It's from his younger sister, Lena.

He sighed and closed his eyes.

Ever since Amber died in that fatal accident, he had to raise their two young children alone.

Though he contemplated more than once on getting a wet nurse for her, Lena refused, saying she could take care of the baby herself.

But now he really should consider hiring a wet nurse as it's difficult for Lena to juggle between school activities and also take care of the kids.

He sighed again thinking,' Amber why did you leave? I can't do this without you.'

He closed his eyes and murmured murderously, “I will make them regret ever messing with me. They better stay hidden forever. Otherwise, once I get a hold of them, they will wish for a quick death."

Confused, Whitney shivered in fear and looked at him while at the same time wondering, who he was talking about.

Neither he nor Whitney said a word to each other as the limo slowly drove away.

As they arrived at their destination, Whitney gaped at the gigantic mansion, amazed at its beauty and magnificence of it.

She couldn't stop staring at it.

You see, we have the average class rich, the middle class rich, and the high class rich.

Whitney's family falls into the middle class rich even though she didn't get to enjoy the benefits of the wealth.

Maverick unhurriedly opened his eyes seeing that the limo stopped and the first thing that came into his line of view was Whitney staring out of the window with her mouth open.

“Tch... Close your mouth or you might end up swallowing a fly. Besides no one wants to see your yellow teeth,” he said enjoying the change of expression on her face.

Whitney closed her mouth abruptly and turned to look at him. There was no longer the sign of the angry, sad, or exhausted expression on his face earlier.

But instead, he has his cockiness and arrogance on display, and after his rude comment just now, let's add rudeness to the list.

She looked at him. He has a handsome face like that of an angel but the beauty doesn't match his character at all.

She imagined herself beating him to a pulp and couldn't help but smile happily at the thought.

But then, she only lived the joy for a moment as she was interrupted by the flickering of his fingers at her face.

“Why are you smiling that way? It doesn't suit your chubby face,” he remarked rudely.

Shocked, Whitney glanced at her smile on the window screen.

What does he mean? Her smile looks beautiful. She turned around and glared at him before asking,“ Why have you brought me here? Take me back right now!”

Maverick rolled his eyes wondering who was just looking amazed right now by what she sees and why she was pretending that she wants to go back. He knows she was attracted to him. Who wouldn't though?

Despite how his accident made him unable to stand upright again, that fact didn't stop women from chasing him relentlessly. They still sent him numerous love letters and flowers that used to annoy Amber when she was alive.

Maverick smiled remembering the day Amber beat up one of his female staff just because she made coffee for him and put love designs on it.

Meanwhile, Whitney shivered as she watched him smile while he seems to be in deep thoughts.

His smile terrified her.

“You should frown more often. A smile doesn't suit your face because you look like the joker right now,” Whitney couldn't help but retaliate.

Her words immediately wiped off the smile on his face and replaced it with a frown.

He looked at the rude woman before him and felt like yanking her hair so hard that she would cry out of pain.

He frowned and looked at his legs in regret.

Whitney followed his point of view and instantly guessed what he was thinking.

She smiled knowing no matter what she says or did, he can't do anything.

He glared at her and answered,“ Watch what you say fatty. You should check your weight and go on a diet before insulting someone else.”
