9. Million dollar mission

Aaron scoffed disdainfully.

"As if she'd ever stand a chance against me in anything."

"I wouldn't be so sure if I were you. I can achieve even the impossible when I'm motivated. " I said to him, finally finding my voice at last.

I could tolerate his insults and his taunts but one thing I wouldn't stand for is him trampling on my abilities and skill.

"I like that you're so resilient and that you never give up. That would make beating you all the more exciting and fun. Besides, when have you ever been able to beat me at anything? Or have you forgotten already so soon? Would you like a reminder of how many times you've lost to me?"

I had the perfect retort on the tip of my tongue, ready to lash out but dad interrupted our banter.

"Look, I have some important things I need to catch up with so I don't have time to entertain you guys going at each other's throats which is why I'm just gonna get straight to the point, okay?"

"Fine." I replied, still fuming at Aaron's words while he simply smirked evilly, clearly satisfied that he had been able to rule me up.

"im giving you both an opportunity to inherit the company but obviously, you both should know me well enough to know that I'm not just gonna hand it over on a platter of gold. There needs to be a challenge So, there is an assignment, there is a task, something to prove that you're actually deserving to step into your new role, and whoever gets to complete this task first gets to take over the company. It's as simple as that."

"What is this task?" Aaron and I asked in unison, curiosity and excitement getting the best of us.

"Well, since you both asked nicely," he replied, rubbing his palms together excitedly "I'm gonna break it down for you."

I wished he would just get straight to the point and stop stalling but we both knew better than to rush the man. He like to take his time.

"So as it turns out, the company has run into a little bit of a financial problems, nothing to get worried about, but but we've accumulated some debts over the years, and I've been thinking, and I've been brainstorming with the team and luckily, we've come up with a solution to remedy the situation. "

"Okay..." i replied, urging him to continue. His numerous paused were killing me and I honestly wasn't sure if o could take it anymore.

"Basically, all we need to get out of this issue is to get some very high-end investments."

"And just how much debt are we talking about exactly?" Aaron Chimed in, earning a glare from his father. Obvious he hated being interrupted but he went ahead and answered anyway.

"The amount isn't that much actually, "he replied looking away "...Just something close to two hundred and fifty million."

"Two hundred and fifty million," we both repeated, our eyes widening to the size of saucers from shock.

"Yes, two hundred and fifty million. Why are you making it such a big deal?"

""Probably because it is?" Aaron supplied and I couldn't agree more.

"He is right dad. 250 million is a lot of money. "

Look, I know we made some bad investments which landed us in this position, but it's nothing that can't be remedied. All you guys need to do is find some very solid investments, get at least five or six people with good money to invest in our new project. Talking good money, maybe like twenty million. Come on, you get ten people to invest twenty million each, that's already two hundred million. And since it's such a good project, they will be having returns in less than six months so it's a win win situation, everybody is happy.

"That is actually a great plan to make a profit and to raise the company from the ashes." Aaron declared. "But dad, hope you haven't forgotten that investors aren't just lying around waiting to offer money to whoever asks for it. Besides, How did we get into debt of two hundred million?" Aaron was clearly losing his shit and I wanted to tell him to calm down but I couldn't bring myself to say a word. I was just as shocked as he was, maybe even more.

"Like I said, nobody intended for this to happen but now that it has, we need to start thinking of solutions and that is where you two come in. You have got the task of reigning in the investors. And I'm giving you all a quota of a hundred million each. If you can bring in investors to invest a hundred million each of you, whoever gets to achieve that first is going to take over the company."
