New Beginnings

I felt a rush of cold as I used the snow to disappear and go back to our cabin. My little snow portal settled to the ground around me and I shook off what remained. I looked ahead and really took in the cabin I called home.
It’s logs were cut from the woods that surrounded us. My mother was an incredible woman. She was handy, sweet, she could cook up a storm in the kitchen and she somehow managed to raise five little witches all by herself. We all knew we were a handful, our powers grew each day yet she took it all in and managed to make us disciplined and precise, she taught us the value of our magic and the value of life around us. She told us often the story of Luna, her eyes always holding hope when she did of one day not having to hide, one day allowing us to live a free life.

I was taken aback by this sudden move of his, it was an act of a subject, not a friend and I would never ask that of him. “Gabryl, please get up. Why have you suddenly bowed? And why have you called me Luna?” By this time my mother and grandmother had rounded the corner into the room and were taking in the scene in front of them. Their faces held as much shock as mine did seeing Gabryl on his knees before me. “Gabryl, speak to me please, you are beginning to worry me.” It was only then that he looked up at me, when I met his eyes I saw admiration, I saw loyalty, and I saw the love of a man who was like a father to me.
