Vaelora

How couldn't they see those symbols? When I say 'they' I meant the bouncer and Andrew. It seems like the blue haired man could see it. I don't know how I know but judging by the mysterious way he looked at me—it makes me feel like he was surprised at how I could see the symbol.

I watched as he walked back towards us. His eyes never left mine even as he whispered something to the bouncer. He gave me a dark smile before coming in front of the bouncer, his eyes were redder now. I noticed the colour wasn't normal. Probably, contact lense. "Let them in."

"Yes, I will." Turning to face out, he said. "Pass."

I don't know if I'm being paranoid but he looked like he was under a trance or something.

Oh shit! There was something about this place that's making me go insane. First, I was drawn to it by this feeling that I will find my stalker here. What was I expecting? For someone to have stalked you for days on end, it means he is a psychos, right? And he must be dangerous and people like this don’t stay in safe places.

I felt that now was the perfect time to turn back but the stubborn side in me wanted to know if my instinct is right. Something about this club is drawing me in. It has to be him.

I wanted Andrew to hold me tighter but he didn't seem like he noticed my unsettling feeling. He looked around obviously bored by everything around him.

Andrew wasn't the club type of guy. He just liked to hang out with a few friends in a quiet setting where the talk about business and some boring documentary.

I liked that he didn't visit this type of places, at least I wouldn't be too worried about him cheating on me with a fucking stripper.

The blue haired boy past the bouncer, quick as an eel. He turned to me again, still with that smirk on his face. I liked the lily in his shoulders, the way he tossed his hair as he went. There was a word my mum would have used to describe him but I just can't recall it.

"You think he was cute," said Andrew, pouting again. "Didn't you?"

I poked him on his ribs, but didn't answer.

Inside the club was full of dry-ice smoke. Coloured neon lights played over the dance floor, turning to multicolored fairyland of blues and greens and reds with perks of pink and so many others I couldn't decipher.

"So," Andrew said. "Pretty good music, huh."

I didn't reply. My eyes wandered the club in search of the boy who just disappeared out of the blues. Something about him tells me that he's not as young as he looks. Perhaps, he is like me. Almost twenty-one but in a body of a nineteen year old.

With these little minutes I've spent with him, I feel he is more mature than his body entails.

There was a lot of back and forth swaying in the name of dancing. A couple of Asian boys and girls were having a threesome right on a couch. Another couple were making out near the wall, kissing as if they wanted to melt into each other.

I wasn't really paying attention to my immediate surrounding for me to be disgusted at their acts. My eyes finally found the blue haired boy and his too met mine.

He winked at me and his smirk changed to a beautiful smile. I didn't expect that and fuck, he was really cute lad as Andrew had said.

His eyes left mine and landed sharply in another direction before he started on his feet. He was prowling through the crowd as if he was looking for someone. There was something about the way he moved..

"I'm trying to enjoy this party, babe but I don't know if I can." Andrew nibbled at my neck again but I wasn't really paying attention to him now.

"Mmmm" I barely managed to reply. I know perfectly that he came to the Undercrypt Club because I dragged him here. I know he thinks it is boring. I was not even sure why I wanted to come here. Was it the clothes, the music? Was it because I've never entered a club before and just wanted to for the first time? Was it because of him? Is he really here?

The blue haired boy was making his way off the dance floor now. He kind of looked a little lost as if he hadn't found what he was looking for.

But it wasn't long before he straightened up suddenly, snapping to attention, like a hunting dog who has found its prey.

I followed the line of his gaze, and saw a girl in red dress. I guess he was sorting out for his make out for the night.

I thought, trying to look away from them but I just couldn't. Not yet. The girl was gorgeous. She's the kind of girl I would have like to draw—tall, slim, elegant with a long spill of jet black hair. At this distance, I could see a red pendant around her neck. It seems the girl loves the colour red. It pulsed under the lights of the dance floor. It reminded me of a separate, disembodied heart.

"I feel that," Andrew started and I barely listened. ".. we should do our wedding in a church. Saint Morgenstern church will be the best. What do you think?"

"Huh?" I felt a great urge to roll my eyes. Andrew hated going to church so why would he want us to wed in a one?

Ninety percent of my attention was on the girl in red dress. Through the darkness, smoke and artificial fog, her dress shone out like a beautiful red rose amongst black roses. No wonder the blue haired boy was following her as if he was under a spell. He had the same look the bouncer had after he whispered in his ears and looked straight into his eyes.

He was too distracted by her beauty to notice anything going around him. If he wasn't following the girl like a lost sheep , he would've been able to see two dark shapes were hard on his heels, waving after him through the crowd.

I slowed my dancing and stared. I could make out that the shapes were men, tall and wearing black. One was just wearing black trousers and a top, the other was on a black cloak. I don't know how I could tell that the blue haired man was being followed, but deep down I know that some real shit is going down soon. I saw the way they paced him, their careful watchfulness, the graceful slickness of their movements.

Apprehension began to open inside me.

"Yes, we will wed in church," Andrew continued. "I also wanted to tell you I've decided how many children I want from you." I felt him touch my belly. "I want six children."

The girl had reached the wall, and she was opening a door that said ENTRANCE FORBIDDEN. My eyes had surprisingly become so sharp to even read something so far away. She kept beckoning the blue haired boy after her, and they slipped through the door.

Well, it wasn't anything new. They had to be a couple seeking off to dark corners of the club to you know, make out, but that made it even weirder because why were they being followed ?

I raised myself up on a tiptoe, trying to see over the crowd. The two guys had stepped at the door and seemed to be conversing silently with each other. The one with normal black clothes was dark haired while the one in black cloak had ginger coloured hair streaking out of his hood. My eyes widened. The ginger-head one was my stalker. So my instincts have been right all along.

I'm still in shock at how I'm able to see them from this distance. Yeah, I couldn't see their faces yet but my stalker reached into his cloak and drew out something long and sharp that flashed under the lights.

I gasped. A knife.

"Andrew!" I shouted, leaving his hands to squeeze his arm.

"What?" Andrew looked alarmed. "I'm just joking about the six children, babe. Don't get so worked up." He laughed. "I was just trying to get your attention. Not that six children isn't fine by me but whatever you want is best."

"Do you see those guys?" I pointed wildly, almost hitting a curvy Indian girl that was dancing nearby.

The girl shot me an evil look.

"I'm so sorry."

I turned back to Andrew. "Do you see them.. those guys? By that door?"

Andrew squinted under his glasses, then shrugged. "I don't see anything. No one's there."

"There are two of them, Andrew. They were following the guy that helped let us into the club. The one with the blue hair and piercings.."

"The one you thought was cute?"

"Yes, I mean, no, I didn't think he was cute but that's not the point. The ginger haired one pulled out a knife. "

"Are you sure? " Andrew stared harder even removing his glasses and putting them back on. He shook his head. "I still don't see anyone."

"I'm sure. How don't you see them? "

Suddenly Andrew looked serious, looking over his shoulder. "I will call one of those bouncers or security guards. Seems like my glasses needs to be changed. You stay put." He strode away, pushing through the crowd.

I turned just in time to see the ginger haired man slip through the door, his friend was right on his heels. I looked around; Andrew was still trying to shove his way across the dance floor, but he wasn't making any much progress. Even if I yelled for help, no one will hear me over the loud music plus I have a really tiny voice. And by the time Andrew got back, something terrible might already happen. Biting my lips, I started to wriggle through the crowd, knowing that I was walking into danger.

Vaelora POV I flinched backward hard enough to hit the blackened wall behind me. My breath caught in my throat while dark smoke spread through the room like burnt paper. The demon was gone. Gone. I stared at the empty space where it had been standing only seconds before. My ears rang so badly I could barely hear anything else. The apartment Mum tried so hard to keep neat and arranged was destroyed now. Broken glass covered the floor. Her drawings that had taken her months to paint and finalize were scattered in black, jagged pieces everywhere. Nothing felt real. Zane lowered the strange amber-glowing blade slowly. He pulled his jacket cap off his head and ran his fingers through his hair, his eyes still on me before he slowly turned them away, looking around the apartment, checking every shadow carefully like he expected another monster to jump at us. His eyes landed on me again. The look on his face changed instantly. “Are you hurt?” he asked. I opened my mouth, but no

Vaelora The monster lunged, and I stumbled backward against the counter, biting down hard on my lip to stop myself from screaming. Tears blurred my vision, but I forced myself to stay standing. “Come on,” I whispered, trying to sound braver than I felt. “Come get me.” The creature growled and charged. For one terrible second, I almost lost my nerve. But then I recalled Momma’s terrified voice over the phone. How scared she sounded. I remembered the fear that was evident in her voice. The noises. And something inside me hardened. I whirled my head to the monster. It was getting closer and closer. Without a second thought, I started to turn on the gas stove switch one by one until the smell of it overtook that of the monster’s foul odor. I grabbed the red knife and gas lighter from the counter. The monster’s footsteps thudded against the floor as it came closer, slow and heavy, like it already knew I couldn’t escape. The overhead light flickered weakly above us, thro

Vaelora POV I staggered backward, tripped, and fell just as the creature lunged after me. I rolled to the side and it missed me by inches, sliding along the wood floor, its claws gouging deep grooves. A low growl bubbled from its throat. I scrambled to my feet and ran toward the hallway, but it was too fast for me. It sprang again, landing just above the door, where it stayed like a malignant gigantic spider, staring down at me with its scary eyes. Its jaw opened slowly, showing a row of fanged canines and molars that looked so sharp. I didn’t want to imagine how much pain I would feel if it managed to sink its teeth into my flesh. How did my life get to this point? I had no time for self-pity as the thing gurgled and hissed. To my horror, I realized that the noises it was making were words. “A girl,” I managed to decipher. “Fresh flesh. Fresh blood. To eat, to drink. Oh, lovely snack.” It hissed. It began to slither down the wall towards me. Some part of me had passed be

Vaelora’s POV The weather had gotten even colder, and running home felt like swimming as fast as I could through a pool full of ice cubes. At the corner of a block, I got hit by someone riding a bicycle. We both went down. My arms hurt, but I quickly stood, ignoring the numbing pain I felt. “Are you okay?” I asked the rider. Not waiting for his response, I jittered up and down impatiently on the balls of my feet while traffic whizzed by in a blur of headlights. I was crossing the road like a mad person, barely paying attention to the chaos around me. Horns blared from every direction, people shouting as cars squeezed past each other. I stepped off the curb too quickly and suddenly a taxi came speeding toward me. The sharp screech of brakes ripped through the air, loud enough to make my heart stop. Tires scraped harshly against the road as the taxi halted inches away from me. My breath caught in my throat while people around me gasped and cursed. For a second, everything froze.

Vaelora’s POV“Damn… this is me?” He slowly took my paper from my hand, his eyes dragging over every detail before a smug grin spread across his face.I narrowed my eyes. What was this guy onto?He continued. “You drew my jawline sharper than it actually is. You this obsessed with me all the time and you lie that you don’t love me stalking you?”My eyes widened. No, no, it can’t be. I couldn’t have…He glanced up at me, clearly enjoying my panic.“Wait—” he tilted the paper closer, pretending to inspect it seriously. “You even got the Sigil on my neck right.” His eyes slowly met mine, smug and dangerous. “That means you stared at me that night way more than I thought. Kinda creepy, don’t you think?”My soul actually left my body. Then he smirked. “Careful, love. Keep drawing me like this and I’m gonna start thinking you want me.”There was no other explanation for the horrifying emptiness in my brain as he held up the sketch like some proud museum curator showing off a masterpiece. My

  • Heir Of Angels: Stalking Vaelora Book 1   12. Sigil

Vaelora’s POV I burst through the doors, my eyes frantically searching the environment, terrified that Zane would’ve disappeared into the alley shadows like he always did. To my uttermost surprise, he was there, slouched against the wall. He had just taken something out of his pocket that looked so much like what Mum had given me this morning. Earlier, I’d thought the red glowing stuff had looked like Zane’s amber-glowing knife, but it wasn’t. This was much leaner and filled with mysterious markings. He looked up as the door of the restaurant fell shut behind me. In the rapidly fading sunlight, his hair looked coppery gold. “Your boyfriend’s taste buds are terrible,” he said. I blinked, caught momentarily off guard. “Sorry?” “I said his taste buds are terrible, like they’ve been made of sand, created to taste even the most horrible things as good. You agree, don’t you?” “My fiancé’s taste buds shouldn’t be any of your business.” I was furious. “I want to know why you are s
