We went back to his, sorry, our room, and I found my missing bag next to the bed. I was sure they had checked it, but I didn’t have any secrets, so I decided to let it go.

“Can I call my Mum?” I asked, pulling out my phone from the bottom of my bag. “She works in town, and wasn’t there yesterday,” I explained, seeing Duncan’s surprised face. “She will freak out if she comes back for the weekend and I’m not there.”

“Sure, go on,” he nodded. “Should I leave you alone?”

“No, just stay. I will be quick,” I smiled at him, and went to the window, dialing her.

“Hi, baby girl!” she finally answered after many rings.

“Hi, Mummy!” I answered with a big smile.

“How are you, my dear?” she asked in a happy voice, and I already felt bad, because I knew she would not be happy after I told her what happened.

“I’m fine Mum, I just wanted to tell you something.”
