“Let me go!” I yell as Sage drags me upstairs.

“You’ll fulfill your duties as Phoenix, Mia. We need a child and damn it, I’m going to fucking make one!” He growls as I fight his grip.

“I’ll never lay down with you!” I punch his hand.

He pulls me to him and points a finger in my face. “You have no choice. This is why you’re here. Just like your mother before you.” He stares right into my eyes.

“You killed my father, didn’t you?” Tears well in my eyes.

“I didn’t. The Alpha before me did. Then he made you.” He dragged me the rest of the way and threw me into my room.

“You damn Phoenix birds just can’t stay put. Always have to leave and explore.” He walks around removing his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt.

I look wildly around for escape.
