I knew Mia would fit right in.

When we got home, my dad greeted her with open arms. “Come here. It’s so great to have a daughter.” He smiles as he hugs her. Then he turns to me. “You come here, too.” He gives me a many hug. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my dad so happy.

Wes came in behind us. “Where’s my hug?” He pretends to pout.

“Alright. I’m in a good mood. Why not?” My dad laughs and gives Wes a hug.

“You deserve it too, little bro. You did save my life.” I wrap my arm around him and shake him.

“Yeah, well, just don’t make dying a habit Ok. I don’t want to keep carrying your ass to the pool.” He chuckles.

My dad looks confused. I tap his arm. “I’ll tell you later.”

“Well, I know if your mother were here, she’d be so proud of you boys.” He puts his hands in his pockets.

I bite my lip. “Yeah. She would have loved you.” I look at Mia.
