Chapter 5: Who Was She?

Oliver's POV

I quickly shared this news with my sister and my parent in a conference call. Their reply came instantly, as always.

'This calls for a celebration.'

.

I agreed with them. And everyone planned to dine out at my would-be workplace i.e. Rise Above Dining Restaurant on Saturday night. Right then, I wanted to cancel their plan because I didn't have enough money but then my brother-in-law interrupted saying this would be his treat.

On Saturday night,

"Sophia, you had said that you had booked the table for all of us.", Brandon, my brother-in-law, looked at his wife aka my sister who was nervously biting her lips.

.

"Umm! I felt like I had booked the table but at the same time Aaron started crying and I think I didn't check the status of whether the table was booked or not.", Sophia explained nervously. Brandon narrowed his eyes at her. While I turned toward the manager.

.

"So, there is no chance we could get any table in the next few hours?", I asked hopefully.

.

"No, sir.", He replied politely. "You need to take a one-month advance reservation here.", He added, making us gasp in surprise. After that, we just stared at each other's place and planned to leave. I looked around there were people lined up, all in cocktail dresses and nice expensive suits. They didn't like ordinary people at all.

I bumped with someone but before my butt would have kissed by the floor. That person held perfectly. I raised my eyes to thanks the person and was surprised to see the same woman. What was her name? Yes, Rebecca.

She looked like nothing when I had seen her last time. Her purple eyes were curiously looking at me.

.

"Hey", She greeted this time, unlike the last time. She was seriously very quiet that day.

.

"Hi," I muttered awkwardly because all my family was looking at us as if something was cooking between us. God! They need to understand that I need to burn a lot of calories to get myself a girlfriend.

.

"Did you have dinner already?", She asked softly.

.

"We were hoping to but I didn't realize you need to book one month in advance.", I said. I wanted to ask about her reservation but that would be rude after all we were not that good friends, right?

.

"And observing the strict rules over here, I doubt that even a celebrity could get a table here at the last minute.", Sophia joked making Rebecca smile a bit.

.

"Well, I am sure I can make last-minute arrangements,", She said and looked back at me. "I mean, I know you wouldn't like to take help from a stranger but I would like to offer you my help.", She used the same like which I had said to her.

.

I shook my head and smiled. "Of course.", I said. "If it is not too much to ask, Rebecca."

.

"It's totally fine.", She replied. Though she had a smile on her face, every one of us was looking at her in confusion. Rebecca went ahead of us, and the manager immediately smiled at her.

.

"Good Evening Ma'am.", He greeted warmly. "How can I help you?"

.

"Can you please ask someone to arrange a table of five? They are important guests of mine."

.

"Certainly Ma'am.", The manager said and immediately spoke to someone on his Bluetooth.

.

Brandon turned to me. "Wow", He breathed. "I didn't know you knew some people.", I smiled weakly because I myself had no idea about that. I thought to tell Rebecca to everyone once we are home.

After a minute, "The table is ready.", Rebecca said and to my surprise, she had arranged the table in the seduced VIP room. This would cost us too much. I turned toward her politely decline her help but she beat me. "It won't cost you a penny, Oliver. All the employees could bring their family once a month to enjoy the meal here. And I believe you are joining here as an intern from Monday.", I opened and closed my mouth like a fish.

I had no idea how to react. How come she knew about it? Who was she? Did I get the internship offer because of her? Fuck there were so many questions running in my head but I didn't have any answer with me currently.
