Chapter 217 – Asher

2025-10-30 23:00:18Ash wakes to see Eliza still asleep, the bruises on her neck and face have all healed fully now, but he can still see the shadows under her eyes showing just how tired and drained she is. Kai is still asleep too, so Ash slides carefully out of the bed trying not to wake them. He goes to the bathroom and showers, hoping to lose some of the stress that he’d been feeling for days while she was gone.
He uses the soap from the hotel; it smells much nicer than his old stuff. It wouldn’t last long, but he’d make good use of it while it did. Once he’s clean, he dries off and brushes his teeth. Eliza and Kai are still asleep, he smiles and throws on some clothes and goes to the office to check on emails for the charity he was now running. Eliza had given him control of her charity after the last manager had misused charity funds to support Sansom’s political goals. At least she wasn’t a problem anymore.

She’d been having a nightmare; it had felt so real, though. She remembers getting out of bed, and Kai and Ash’s faces as they’d realised, she wasn’t in control of her body or voice any more. She was glad they’d known, but then Seth had accompanied her out the front door and helped her into the van. She’s now surrounded by Vampires and Witches. This keeps happening.” He sits, and Ash goes and sits next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “Why does she keep getting taken?” He sobs, and Ash pulls him into his shoulder. Their father sits on Kai’s other side, resting a hand on his other shoulder.“We get her back, and we don’t wait this time.” Eddie nods,“Yes, Sir.” Eddie turns to study the camera feeds and Charlie takes control of the room.“Okay, in her absence, I’m in charge. We get my sister back. Today.” There’s a murmur of assent around the room. “Benny is on his way in too, he’ll be here shortly. Serena will be with you two.” She points at Ash and Kai, “You will be going for our girl and she’ll be your medic if needed.

Looking up at the ceiling. “Father is coming too, with a few of his commanders to assist, and Seth to protect him from his stupidity.” She nods, and grimaces again, groaning and twisting her legs in pain. “Serena, she’s awake and uncomfortable.” Serena nods, typing quickly and then stands bringing the trolley with her, and looks at Eliza.“Okay, pain meds?” Eliza clenches her fists and shakes her head. “Fuck this, I’m making the decision for you. I’m not going to watch you be in pain when I can help you.” Eliza groans, and leans into Ash, who puts an arm around her shoul

“Get Serena, I’m going straight to the clinic.” Ash nods and starts walking towards the clinic. He walks through the crowd that parts easily to let them all through. He gets to the clinic door just as Serena rushes up from behind him. She opens the door for them and Kai follows her to the bed, and she pulls the covers off so he can put her down. He lowers her carefully, and Serena puts her hands on Eliza’s head and stomach.Her eyes go completely black, as she stares at her sister. Ash keeps his hands off Eliza while Serena is working, standing at the foot of the bed gripping at the footboard. She sighs, and grumbles.“She’s fine, she overdid it. Unsurprising given the height of those flames, but there’s nothing actively wrong with her that I can see.” Kai sighs with relief and strokes her hair.
