While I was making a customer's coffee at the coffee shop, my coworker Lyra silently handed me a brown envelope and then left. I tilted my head, trying to recall who could have sent it.

The name "Hallward" on the envelope provided a clue. ‘He should've called me over. I wonder what’s inside.’ I dropped the envelope in front of me, feeling a strange knot in my stomach.

Sia entered the kitchen, her brow furrowed in confusion. "What's wrong, Mila?" she asked, nudging my shoulder.

I sighed, my shoulders sagging under the weight of unspoken fears. "I don't know, Sia."

Sia crouched down, lifting my chin. "Talk to me, what's bothering you?" I remained silent, my gaze shifting to the envelope. Being the perceptive person she was, she noticed and quickly picked it up.

"Wait! Did the boss already pay you?" Her eyes widened in shock, teasingly wiggling her eyebrows in her usual playful manner, trying to make me laugh.

I scoffed, rolling my eyes. ‘Was she going to claim that she couldn't see the name written boldly on it, or was she just pretending, turning a blind eye to it?’

"Wait! I know this," She exclaimed. "Did Simon give this to you?" she inquired, eyeing the envelope with curiosity.

Once again, she was directly addressing Doc Simon by his name. One negative aspect of Sia's behavior was her tendency to belittle people's professions simply because she may not be able to reach their level. This was something I always tried to caution her about.

I remained silent, piquing her curiosity even more. Then she quickly opened the envelope and pulled out a white paper; her hands were trembling, "What on earth! Three years left to live?"

The words hung in the air, a stark reminder of my mortality. My heart plummeted, hot tears streaming down my cheeks. Despite my reluctance, I didn't wish to die. My shoulders shook as I began to sob, and I clenched my hands against my chest.

Miss Abigail, may she Rest In Peace, flashed in my mind. Her warm smile flashed in my mind. She had taken me in, a fragile three-week-old, abandoned by my parents due to my illness. I recalled her gentle hands, soothing my feverish brow, and her soft voice, calming my cries. Sia, too, was part of those memories - a toddler, giggling and playing beside me.

Miss Abigail’s sacrifices for me were countless. She spent her life saving on my treatments, seeking the best care possible. Doc Simon’s words echoed in my mind; ‘ST- elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) no cure,’ tears pricked at the corner of my eyes as I remembered Miss Abigail's unwavering hope.

It was truly painful to realize that my time on earth was limited. It was heartbreaking to know that I hadn’t accomplished even half of my dreams before my inevitable death. ‘Why me? All Miss Abigail’s efforts are in vain now.’

I sobbed harder, Sia ran and pulled me into a tight hug, and we both cried on each other’s shoulders.

“No one has the right to decide when you leave this earth, Mila. Don’t take this seriously, please.” She consoled me, slowly withdrawing from the hug and palming my face. “Even if this is true, death can come and take both of us. I’m not scared.” She said bravely, shaking her head.

I let out a sad smile, wondering what I had done to deserve such amazing people in my life, who had stood by me all those years. Miss Abigail gave up her life just to see me alive and happy, and now Sia was even ready to accompany me to death.

No! I wouldn’t let anyone make more sacrifices for me again, and the only way to conceal that thought in her head was to pretend I was fine.

“Yes, no one has the right to make me leave this world, not even STEMI,” I said with all the confidence left in me, trying to act brave in front of her.

"Happy third anniversary, Mila!" She suddenly exclaimed, pulling me for a hug again, shaking my shoulder.

I blinked my eyes rapidly, as I tried to process what she had said. Then, in a flash, it hit me - today was my third anniversary with Leo, my boyfriend.

I couldn’t believe that the day I had been planning for months had slipped my mind so easily. Leo's image flashed through my mind – his eyes sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight, radiating joy.

Our meeting at the eatery two years ago replayed like a cherished memory. Leo's smile transformed from a gentle curve, captivating me. Every gesture, every movement, drew me deeper into him. His love for me was indescribable.

I considered myself extremely lucky and wouldn't allow any medical reports to overshadow the significance of my anniversary, a day that brought me immense joy just thinking about it.

"Thank you, crocky head, I almost forgot," I said with a mist of laughter, and she couldn't help but join me in laughing.

"Hope you're fine now?" she asked, with concern lingering in her voice.

I let out a heavy sigh. "I know I'm supposed to be one of the happiest people on earth, but the doctor's report I received today was so disheartening. But I'll be fine," I assured her.

Leo called soon after, and we chatted for a bit before saying goodbye. His call brightened my mood, causing a smile to spread across my face. I turned to Sia, who watched me and my phone intently, her smile a bit too wide.

"Me and Leo are a perfect match. Sorry, I mean you," she exclaimed, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

I dismissed her comment as friendly banter, but a small doubt lingered in the back of my mind.

"I don't know if I should tell Leo about it," I confided in her, knowing she was my best friend.

Her expression turned serious. "I would advise you not to tell him because no man would want to be with a woman whose days are numbered," she said.

"But Leo is different," I protested.

Her gaze dropped. "And Leo is no exception," she said, shattering my last glimmer of hope.

"Just hold on, don't tell him." She advised.

"Okay," I mumbled, agreeing with what she said.

"Don't worry. Your boyfriend and I have a surprise for you when you get back home tonight," she said quickly, bursting into laughter and running out.

"Wait, what? Sia..." I started to say before she left, not allowing me to finish.

However, it was surprising to know they'd both teamed up to surprise me. I was glad to see both of them patching up their differences. It wasn't surprising, since they'd been spending a lot of time together lately, with him helping Sia with her programming.

I quickly gathered my things, eager to surprise Leo too and make our anniversary unforgettable. I hailed a cab, and he drove me to Merryland.

Our third anniversary was a beacon of hope amidst the darkness. I chose a beautiful wristwatch and necklace, symbols of our love.

He eventually stopped in front of my gate; I settled the fare and he drove away. Holding my carefully wrapped gift, I started walking elegantly towards my apartment.

The loud music coming from my apartment grabbed my attention, making me wonder if Leo had returned. We both lived together while Sia lived in an apartment not too far from where I lived.

As I approached and tried to open the door, I realized it was locked, which had never happened before.

Knock! Knock! “Babe, I'm back. Can you open the door?" I called out to him, knowing he probably couldn't hear me over the loud music.

I took my spare key and unlocked the door, stepping inside.

I was taken aback when I saw the state of my house - it looked like someone had ransacked it. Champagne bottles and glasses were scattered on the floor, along with expensive men's clothing and belongings.

There was even an unwrapped gift and a half-eaten cake lying on the floor. My eyes widened, and I kept blinking rapidly as I tried to figure out what had happened in my absence.

My eyes landed on the couch, and I was jaw-dropped to see a woman's blue underwear and pieces of jewelry that didn't belong to me. Glancing over to the opposite end of the couch, my eyes widened in horror to see a red dress and heels that weren't mine.

The room was a total mess.

"Unbelievable! He's cheating on me," I muttered bitterly.

I quickly ran into my bedroom and tried to open the door, only to find it locked from the inside. But I could hear a lady moaning from inside.

"This idiot really planned this," I muttered to myself as my breath quickened, trying to prepare myself for the worst.

I hurried back to my living room, grabbed my spare key, and unlocked the door before pushing it open.

There he was, slowly thrusting his cock into her pussy in sync with the music playing in my bedroom.

"Yes, Daddy, just like that," the bitch moaned as he hit the right spot.

That voice sounded familiar. I could recognize the owner even if it came from an ash. Sia! A deceitful liar and a traitor.

My chest tightened, and I felt a pang of spite. The shock froze me in place. My hands trembled, and my legs quivered in distress. My breathing became shallow, my head went blank, and the only sound I could hear was the rhythmic sound of my heartbeat.

My eyes were glaring over at my best friend and lover engaging in passionate sex, and they were both covered in sweat.

I could feel the world spinning, the earth threatening to close up on me. Tears rolled down my cheeks quietly as I came to a conclusion. The universe hated me a lot.

Finally, Sia noticed my presence because she was beneath him.

"The half-dead woman finally showed up." she mocked, as she continued raising her ass to meet his thrusts, with her gaze locked onto mine.

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 72: Tyla’s Attempt.

Camila “Tyla!” I exclaimed, springing to my feet and leaping toward the doorway where she stood. She held a plate piled with steamed buns, her expression bright with a warmth I found unsettling, but I shrugged it off. Damn! Madam Gabby never mentioned this surprise. Since our last encounter, I hadn’t seen Tyla at all—though, when I’d woken up that morning to Dixie and Bianca’s chatter, I’d secretly wished she were there with them. Now, seeing her in front of me, joy surged through my chest. Without hesitation, I pulled her into a tight hug, the plate wobbling precariously in her grip as she let out a dry, humorless laugh. That laugh isn’t genuine. Tyla’s pretending. Madam Gabby must’ve forced her to bring these buns. I stiffened, withdrawing from the hug. How much I’d missed her, despite everything. “It’s good to have you back safe and sound,” she said, brushing past me. Her voice dripped sarcasm as she slammed the plate onto the dining table and slumped into a chair. “Th

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 71: Sharing Her secret

Camila The moment Dixie and Bianca left the room and closed the door behind them, Madam Gabby leaned closer and began examining my body. My jaw dropped in awe, and I wondered why she was doing so. “You aren’t feeling any pain, are you?” she asked, concern lingering in her voice. Tears clouded her eyes as she held my hands, smoothing them gently. Her personality and reactions were exactly like Miss Abigail’s when she was still alive. Just like a mother, she had always looked out for me, wanted me to be safe, and dreaded the thought of me getting hurt. I shook my head. “I’m fine. Your secret weapons were helpful,” I muttered, flashing her a smile. She tried to smile back, but her clouded eyes blinked away tears. I leaned forward and wiped them with the back of my hands. “I’m glad they did,” Madam Gabby said, her shoulders dropping in relief. “I’m also relieved that Alpha Zedex paid them back in their own coin,” she added, smiling. I smiled back. After a silent moment betwe

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 70: Madam Gabby.

Camila POVI’d known Lan hated me from the moment he first saw me in the icy dungeons. He despised how I fearlessly talked back to him, how I stood my ground against him—but wanting me dead? Nah. That was something I wouldn’t bet on—though maybe it just hadn’t crossed my mind yet. But come to think of it, now I see why there was so much disdain and hate in Piro’s eyes. The words that came out of his mouth, down to the venom in his glare and dreadful threats—now it’s all coming together in one piece. Bianca shook her head. “So sad that he always pretends to be so naive and clueless in front of the Alpha. Trust me, the Alpha would be disheartened to learn that Lan turned out worse than his brother.” Dixie nodded. “I knew Lan was up to something when he chose his half-brother over his blood brother. Deadlier than a snake—now I wish Alpha Zedex had known this sooner to avoid future trouble,” she voiced in concern. Bianca hastily held my hand. “From now on, you need to stay away fr

Camila “Trust me, Mogan,” I whispered, pulling away from him to sit on the edge of the bed. His gaze burned into my back as I walked, heavy and unyielding. When I lifted my eyes to meet his, he released a heavy sigh of relief, as though my closeness had been suffocating him all along. Mogan’s stare snapped toward me. Even in the dim light, I could see the doubt flickering behind his hardened expression—how he blinked rapidly, his eyes darting to the walls, the floor, anywhere but me. Convincing him would be difficult, I knew. But I couldn’t force him. If I pushed too hard, he’d only grow more wary, suspecting some hidden scheme. Yet, deep down, I clung to one certainty, he didn’t hate me. Since my arrival in this strange, shadowed world, he’d saved me countless times. Even when I feared he’d betray me for asking Madam Gabby about Zedex’s past, he’d stayed silent. That small mercy had spared me harsher punishments. “I’ll give you time to think, Mogan,” I said softly, climbing o

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 68: I Will Set Him Free

CAMILA POVIn a flash, he closed the distance between us. His palm struck my chin like lightning, pain jolting through me like electricity. My hand flew to my face as tears spilled over. He gripped my jaw, forcing me to meet his burning gaze. A shiver raced down my spine. The fury in his eyes made me wish the ground would swallow me whole. ‘I should’ve stayed silent. Let him walk away.’ “Trust?” Zedex’s voice dripped venom as his fingers dug into my flesh. Blood trickled down my neck. “Who the fuck are you to speak of trust? You stole from me. Gave my ring to the enemy.” He snarled like a feral beast, then drove his fist into my stomach. I crumpled to the floor, waist slamming against the wooden table. A sharp cry tore from my throat. “Ugh!” I lifted tear-blurred eyes to him. He scoffed, “I'd rather trust a snake than a human. He stalked toward me, a predator circling prey. “You want to flee, don’t you?” he whispered before erupting into manic laughter. “N-no—” I shook my hea

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 67: Zedex, Trust me!

Camila POV My eyelashes fluttered open as my gaze landed on the ceiling. The faint scent of Zedex’s sandalwood cologne lingered in the air, grounding me in his space. It was familiar, and I slowly raised my upper body to sit upright on the bed. My eyes wandered around the room, and I instantly recognized Zedex’s chambers. I stretched my arms and twisted slightly, surprised to feel no pain in my body or joints—not even a headache. The usual ache in my ribs from past beatings was gone, replaced by an unnatural vigor. I felt renewed and strong as if energized from within. ‘When did we return to the Vermillion Pack?’ My thoughts raced, scrambling to recall what had happened. In a flash, memories flooded my mind: Max and Troy harassing me, Zedex intervening by severing their hands. Their snarls echoed in my skull, followed by the metallic tang of blood. My face fell with sadness. The rivalry between the brothers showed no sign of ending, and it pained me to know it was all because o

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 66: Barrier Weakening

Alpha Zedex.I turned around and walked further into my room, sitting at my dining table. I then untied my mask from my face, showing my scar, before pouring myself a cup of tea. After some time, Mogan didn’t hear a word from me, which made him lift his head. At that moment, I turned and our eyes met. I waved my hand, inviting him to come closer. “Come, sit,” I said softly, sipping my tea. The warmth of the drink going down my throat couldn’t compare to the sorrow in my heart. Mogan stood up and walked over to me, sitting across from where I sat. I picked up the small kettle and poured tea into both of our cups. “Zedex…” he hesitated, studying my face as I looked at him calmly. He expected me to be upset for him using my name, but my steady gaze encouraged him to continue. “I know Grandpa took it out on you,” he said quietly, understanding my pain. I would say Mogan is the only one who truly gets me. He sees right through my attempts to hide my feelings. He has witnessed me at my

Alpha Zedex. The intense pain on my bare chin made me look at him, feeling as if I had been punched in the stomach. The hurt glimmered in my eyes, making them shiny with tears. The shock and pain from Grandpa’s slap crashed over me like a wave, and my mouth fell open because I couldn’t understand why he was defending Max, even though he had planned to hurt me. “Grandpa!” I shouted, my voice trembling. The anger and frustration I held back spilled out like a dam breaking. Tears welled in my eyes, and I felt my face flush with rage. I balled my hands into fists to keep my emotions in check. “Enough, Zedex!” he responded, his eyes filled with disappointment and sadness as he looked into mine. “Why did you hurt your brother?” His expression suddenly softened, and he began to cry. “Hmph!” I scoffed, unable to stop a hurtful laugh from escaping as I stood up from the floor. I wasn't surprised by what he said; it was always the first question he asked whenever Max and I fought. But what

  • Her Mate, His Redemption   Chapter 64: Hot Slap

Alpha Zedex Lan kept a steady smile on his face, but his clenched fist revealed his inner turmoil. The sadness in his eyes was unmistakable, though he did his best to hide his sorrow. “Just tell me, did you see Max? How is he?” Lan pressed again, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears. No matter what had transpired, as I mentioned earlier, family ties run deep, but betrayal leaves wounds that no relationship can mend. I turned to Grandpa, who stepped closer, his intense gaze fixed on me. I could tell he was anxious—eager for any news about his grandson. There was no escaping this moment; it would come out eventually. Mogan noticed the tension between us and moved forward. The sound of his boots echoed in the quiet hall as he clasped his hands behind his back and began to pace slowly, drawing everyone’s attention. “The Full Mountain Pack deceived us,” he declared loudly. “It was all a lie. There was no human attack. There were no killings. Alpha Troy and Max lured our Alpha there t
