Betrayal

Waking up early this morning, I checked the fresh bruises in the mirror before dressing. It seems even if Belle had helped Mason find a release, even that couldn’t put him in a good mood. He came banging on my door late last night. He was drunk and mumbling something about bank statements and threats. He said it was my fault, of course. He had to find someone to blame that wasn’t himself. He tired himself out after a few hits, face planting on my floor. I called Beta Rue to come collect him. He was way too heavy for me to carry back to his own room.

Being in a drunken state, he was careless. There was a bruise on my cheek that not enough makeup in the world could hide. I shook my head and headed downstairs for breakfast. To my surprise, Dominic was waiting outside my door. He took one look at my cheek and shook his head, looking guilty.

“You’ve seen worse, Dom. Enough of the pity party, what do you want?” I asked, walking past him.

so far the book is keeping my attention and that's a good thing because if not I would have left the site this is a good book so I will continue reading
