Standing outside of the massive high school in the middle of a city was not something I ever expected I would be doing in my life. I had been living in the woods, in a small log cabin with my mother, who homeschooled me, until recently. When my father showed up and declared that I was coming to live with him, I moved to a big city.
As I looked around at everyone going in and out of the high school, I looked down at myself and knew that I didn’t belong.
All the girls were dressed to the nines, with beautiful clothes, a lot of makeup and high heels. Like they were about to attend a fashion show or something like that. But I looked down at myself wearing sweatpants, sneakers, a baggy shirt and a hoodie over the top of it.
I noticed that everyone was staring at me as I was staring at the building and I decided to bite the bullet and go inside. I knew that I couldn’t put it off for much longer and I knew that they were going to be staring at me, whether I was inside or outside. So I walked up the stairs and into the building.
I had to find my way to the office and all of the kids were standing near their lockers, they were staring and some were whispering and giggling while they were looking at me.
The intense smell of the high school was insane on my senses the second I walked in.
I had lived virtually alone for most of my life and now I was being thrust into a high school that was full of werewolves and all of their scents along with it.
I finally got to the office and the lady behind the desk was a plumish woman in her 40’s and she looked over at me while I was standing there.
“Can I help you?” She asked, coming over to the counter. Almost acting like it was too much of an effort for her to walk four feet to where I was.
“My name is Ava Johnson. I was told to come to the office when I first got here.” I said.
“Oh right. You’re the Alpha’s daughter.” She said, changing her attitude immediately.
“That’s right.” I said. So she pulled up a file that was right in front of her and handed it to me.
“Your class schedule, locker number and combination are in there and there is a list of extracurricular activities in there if you chose to get involved in any of that sort of stuff.” She said.
“Thank you.” I said, taking the folder with me out into the hall.
I looked around until I found my locker and then I used the combination to open it and I started putting all of my books in it.
I could hear snickering behind my back so I looked behind me and there was a group of girls standing there staring at me and making no attempt at all to let me know that they were laughing at me.
They were soon joined by some guys, who joined in with them but I just turned around and tried to ignore them.
I looked at my first class and I needed to look at the map to see where the classroom was. But I made sure that I stayed in my locker while I was looking at it so no one saw me.
But once I figured it out, it was easy for me to find my way.
I started walking towards my first class with my books in hand and I wasn’t really paying attention to many people around me because I was trying to ignore all of the staring and giggling from everyone who looked so much better dressed than me.
There was no secret that I was the odd one out of the entire school, and honestly, I didn’t even know how many students were at this school and if they all belonged to the same wolfpack.
I felt my books fall out of my hands and I turned to see a girl standing in front of me.
“Oops. It slipped.” She said, and she walked away with a couple of girls walking behind her giggling.
“That’s one.” I muttered to myself.
I bent over to pick up my books and just as I was getting to my feet again I felt someone throw their shoulder into me and I fell into the lockers on the side wall.
This time it was a guy and some of his friends that did it.
“That’s two.” I muttered to myself.
When I finally got to class I saw people standing around their desks everywhere and I slowly walked in and found one desk, right at the back of the room that didn’t have anyone near it.
So I walked to that desk slowly and I recognised one of the boys that was standing over the other side of the room. But as soon as he saw me, he rolled his eyes and looked away.
“Leo! Is that your sister?” One of the guys asked, looking at me.
“Oh my god. You’re related to that thing? How the hell did that happen?” A girl asked.
“Does that mean we can start expecting you to look like that soon enough?” The same girl asked.
“Damn Leo. And I thought you were actually worth my time.” Another girl said, while others started laughing.
Leo then smashed his hands on his desk with a growl.
“She’s not my fucking sister.” He roared, shutting everyone in the classroom up.
But I just looked over at him and he was looking pissed. Like he was ready to kill me or something, just for being here.
“Why the hell would I be related to trash like that?” Leo asked.
“Alright man. Calm down. We were kidding. We know that it’s not your fault that you have to live in the same house as that thing.” His friend said, patting him on the back.
The teacher then came into the room and everyone sat down and shut up, for the time being.
When class was over, he asked me to stay back.
He said that he knew I had been homeschooled until now and he needed to make sure that I was able to keep up with the rest of the class. So he gave me extra homework to do. To catch up with what the class had already done this semester.
When I walked out of class I saw a girl standing out there and I recognised her as one of the girls that was giggling along with the one that knocked the books out of my hand earlier.
I tried to walk past her but she stood in my way.
“Hi. I’m Sarah.” She said.
“Okay.” I said.
“I wanted to apologize for the way that I treated you this morning and for what Skylar did to you. She didn’t have a right to do that.” She said.
“Okay.” I said again.
“Hey, why don’t we have lunch together. I can let you know who to hang with and who to steer clear of.”
“Is Skylar one of them that I should steer clear of?” I asked.
“She can be a really nice person, when she wants to be.” Sarah said. “What do you say?” She asked, looking at me with a little hope in her eyes.
“Alright. I guess so.” I said, giving in.
So at lunch time Sarah had found me and she took me to the cafeteria and we sat at a table, just the two of us and I saw Skylar sitting at another table with the rest of her friends.
Sarah said that she was just going to go and get something to eat and asked if I wanted something. But I said no.
So she walked over to where the lunch lady was and I saw her looking back towards Skylar and then at me.
I was keeping my head down, with my hoodie pulled down over my hair and face while I was fiddling with a scratching that had been etched on the table when suddenly I felt something wet fall on my head and down the back of my jumper.
I turned around and saw Skylar standing there laughing with her friends, and Sarah. I guess this was all a set up.
The whole cafeteria erupted into laughter, at my expense.
“And that’s three.” I said as I stood up.
I took my hoodie off to reveal my ass length snow blonde hair and my piercing blue eyes that were now changing color as my wolf was moving forward as we joined as one and Skylar gasped and took a step back.
“Big fucking mistake.” I growled.
I got out of that car, taking the phone with me, and I got back in the car with Noah and Mason sped off down the highway again. "Are you fucking crazy? You scared the hell out of me." Noah yelled. "Well, I'm glad that I did it." I said, showing him the phone. "What about it?" "Leo just called to ask if I was dead. He set these bastards after me." I said. "Did you say anything?" Noah asked. "Only that I was going to fuck him up. I think he took me seriously." I said. "Probably. Since you just killed two men that were meant to kill you." Noah said. "Exactly." I smirked. "Don't fucking do that to me again." Noah said, pulling me closer to him. I knew that he needed me to be sitting near him just so he could calm down. It was the calming effect of the mate bond that he needed right now. I guess I must have really scared him. "I know that you are used to only thinking about yourself. But you can't do that anymore." Noah whispered as he inhaled my scent, right next to
Once we got Noah back to the cabin we had to pack up all of our things as fast as we could. If there were stealth warriors hanging around then there was a good chance that they had already made the call to tell their boss where we were. I'd never seen those men before, so I didn't know if they worked for dad or not. But we just knew that we needed to get out of there. We packed up the car in record time and got out of there as fast as possible. Noah and I were in the backseat while the other two were in the front seat. Noah had picked up the pieces of the necklace and he was examining it in the car. Trying to figure out what it was made of. It had to be something made of dark magic to take my memories the way that it did. "Any ideas?" I asked. "None. I don't have a clue about what this material is." He said. "Alright. Well, keep the pieces. Just in case." I said, holding out a ziplock bag for him to put them in. "Just in case what?" He asked. "Just in case I need to ha
As I was sitting on the ground staring at the ring, I was pulled out of it when Mason yelled at me and attacked the warriors that were approaching me. I tried to get to my feet, but I knew that I was really badly hurt right now. At least a few several broken ribs and a broken ankle. I saw Noah slowly getting to his feet and he had blood all over his face. He wasn't looking too good himself, but that didn't stop him from attacking the warriors that were coming near me. He was going to protect me with everything that he had. As the last warriors realized that he was the only one left standing. The only one left alive, he took one last effort to lunge at me but was grabbed my Noah who had extended his claws and ripped the warriors throat out. Dropping his dead body on the ground. Noah ran over to me and kneeled down in front of me. "Ava." He said, looking me over. Seeing that I was badly hurt. But I was staring at him like he wasn't even there. I looked back down at my hand a
I got up out of bed and I looked out the window at the moon that was shining brightly right into my bedroom and I was more confused than ever. If my mother wasn't actually my mother, then what happened to her. Noah mentioned knowing my mother at one point. Now I need to know exactly everything that he knew about her. I got changed into a grey sweater, tights, socks and sand shoes. I left the house and I started jogging around the lake, trying to clear my head. I was running through the woods, dodging the branches, jumping over the ones that were on the ground, it was almost like an obsticle course. Usually something like this was really enjoyable to me, but today it wasn't. I don't know why. There was something going on with me that I couldn't explain. Something that felt strange and foreign. I hated this feeling and I just kept running until I didn't feel like this anymore. But the problem was, the feeling was going away. And by the time I was passing the house for the fourth ti
Knowing the lengths that my father was going to in order to get me back, made me realize that he was more desperate to get me back than I thought. And Noah was determined that it was because he had an agreement with Elias, or he was in Elias’ debt or something like that. Either way, he only wanted me so he could trade me to an Alpha that was going to use me for whatever the hell he wanted. And Noah was damn sure he wasn’t going to let that happen. I was just upset that we had dragged Jax and Mason into this, but they said that they wouldn’t have it any other way. They were going to be beside Noah’s side, no matter what. Even if they were now labelled as kidnappers. That still didn’t make me feel any better. But I had to try and get my head straight. I had to find out what Wesley and his family wanted with me and I needed to find out who my real mother was. It seemed like Isabella Matthews never even existed. Everything about her was just erased to make it look like she was never th
We had no idea where the hell we were going. We just needed to get the hell out of the city. We didn’t know how many allies my father had so Noah was behind the wheel of the car and he took all the side streets until we finally hit the highway and we kept on going. I was sitting in the front with Noah while the other two were chatting in the backseat. “So, if Elias is your father then does that mean you are next in line to his pack?” I asked. “Not anymore. He disowned me when I said that I wasn’t going to go ahead with his plan to kidnap you.” Noah said. “But you didn’t know that I was your mate back then. Why would you not want to do it?” I asked. “Because I saw what he did to your mother. I wasn’t going to let him do it to another girl.” He said. “So, the sadistic Alpha raised a son with morals. That’s unusual.” I said. “Yeah. We need to find somewhere to hold up where they won’t think to look.” Noah said. “I don’t know my dad that well. So, I don’t know where he will think
