Jane MacPherson’s point of view:
If only mother could shut up, I think to myself. “and then I need Jane to have little bits of flowers on her face” mom tells my stylist. Preparing for a photoshoot as a MacPherson’s model is exhausting, coming closer to my dreams everyday is what keeps me going, I am really into photography, and I need to be away from my mom as much as possible.
“yes, darling do you have any other thing to add to what I’m saying?” asks mom.“none mom, I have nothing more to add” my mom stares at me her eyes looking me up and down.“you need to stop taking that yoghurt of yours, it’s making you fat”she says as she picks up her very expensive customized mirror, and begins straightening her hair.
“we wouldn’t want our model to look fat on any billboard, I don’t want an ounce of fat on you. Its bad enough that you have really wide hips.”The stylist even raises a brow at mom and then gives me a look of sympathy, I return the look with a look of, “I’m used to it”.“who the hell is that?” asks my mom, as she takes in the scene in front of her.“a black boy, ma’am, its not the first time we’ve seen him around here”Looking out the window I expect to see an actual dark boy, but what I see is a guy covered in piles of dirt, even his skin looks ragged, and don’t get me started on the way his clothes are looking.“they should escort him out already, and stop creating a scene” mother says, her perfectly shaped brows going up in the process. That one’s thing about mom, you, could tell what she feels by the way her brows move, her brows really move a lot.“Jonah” mom, calls as she presses the button to alert the driver. Pulling down the small demarcation between us and him “yes ma’am” he calls.“I need you to take us out the back, in front of the building, we could already see the paparazzi, everywhere the noise the calls the fans, with their phones already set.Jonah looks everywhere, I believe trying to scout the area, my stylist was already on the phone, ordering for more bodyguards.“we need to be on our best behaviors ma’am because there’s no way I can maneuver through this crowd” yeah Jonah is lucky, he’s always been in the family, if not, mom wouldn’t let him be.“you heard Jonah jane, be in your best behavior” I nod at her making sure to drop my phone in the process.I take in deep breaths forcing myself to appear calm, which I definitely I’m not, I’m not calm right now.I look down at my red satin dress, so much for being a prim and proper lady.Immediately Jonah pulls up at the front of the building I take a pause, and wait for the security to come open the door.Immediately the huge security guy clears a part toward our car door, he opens it, I put one step out and my right hand on his, he pulls me out gently letting the hot air remind me of how human I am. The flash from people’s phones and their camera’s catch me off guard. But one thing we are taught as models, is to always strike the perfect pose, don’t let even your unknown times look unknown, let them all look as natural as possible. With that in mind I make sure to raise my head and place my eyes at all the right angle. My mom is escorted out of the car next, as the attention seeker that she is she walks stops a little and says somethings, I know that because I hear her literally speaking behind my ears. The noise at the other side of the building catches my attention, and apparently every other person’s attention, because even the photographers take their blinding lights away from my vision and faces it at the other end of the building.“you should really not push me like that” yells the scrawny looking guy.The security in response puts their hands over their nose, I’m guessing to block the stench from getting so into their nostrils they can’t breathe. The security men sensing the attention they were getting begins taking bold steps forward, one even leans forward to whisper something to the black boy’s ears. The black boy, decides to take a look at everyone, and then with calculated steps he scurried off, leaving a paper bag behind.Steven’s point of view:I wait for the security man that told me to wait behind the trash, but looking at how dark the weather is getting I know for sure, that it was a ploy to get me away foe the mean time.I begin scratching my hair in an effort to remove the nonsense that seems to be living in it.“I have to take a shower” I say out loud. I bring my hands closer to my eyes to see just how much dirt has accumulated in there.“you really do need to have a bath young man” a very stern voice speaks from behind me. I turn around only for me to come face to face with the absolute owner of “MacPherson’s cosmetics”.“what can I do to help you” she looks at me from toe to head, totally sizing the whole of me.This is my only shot; I need to ask for a job.“I just need help ma” I respond, even my legs quake at the angry stare she gives me.She takes determined steps toward me, Mr. White
Jane’s point of view:It was the first time I had seen mom like that, jittery and not confident in herself, and it is also the first time since last two years we find ourselves coming out of the office this late, but even as late as it is, people are still outside waiting.“lets just follow outback, I don’t think I can handle anymore heat” says mom, even her face looks so dejected.“yeah something happened” I mouth to myself, as I put my hands into my favorite brand of jeans. So, let’s get this straight, I’m a model for the clothes section in the MacPherson’s brand store, there are also some of the others who are only for the cosmetics, well I am too, but who cares.“I need a bottle of water Shirley” I tell mom’s personal assistant. She smiles at me and goes back to wherever.“is signed the black boy up jane” says mom looking out the window, I’m about to take a seat when I he
Steven’s point of view:My parents were anything but lovely to me, I had always been the outcast of the home, my brother had businesses worth millions of Dollars, and my sister like Jane, was a model. Then me, I had always been a fan of uniqueness, you know having something unique about you and then falling in love with it.I always had a different sense of fashion, and to a family who was an icon of fashion I was too much of an embarrassment. Leaving home for New York was one of the hardest things I had ever done. But I know I really have to calm down concerning things like that, my money was stolen, same as my identification, I had nothing.“so, where is your passport or anything, like a means of identification, do you have any?” asks the lady about to take care of me, so yes, I had already been given a place to have my bath, brush my teeth. And I have already had my change of clothes.
Jane’s point of view:It was late at night I saw it, the nasty comments and replies people gave on social media concerning mom, and the whole of Macpherson’s. yes, I know that mom can be overbearing and all but I also know how much work it took her to get somewhere without dads help.“she’s always been one to judge, such a racist” I read out loud, and I had no doubt it will also be talked about on news today. If there was one thing, I would really want mom to change about herself then It’s the fact that she always would never take a black man for anything, she believes that all black people will ever amount to anything.“mom” I call out, letting all my hate sink in.“why the hell did Steve hunter have to come into the picture” I begin dragging my hair from my skull.Looking around me, I see nothing I have to destroy so as to soothe myself, I decide to go and have a rest.**
Steven’s point of view:Okay so I am officially confused now, I hold my belly that hit the table she pushed me onto. I know I am nothing but an outcast here, so far all I’ve gotten from these people in the building is the so-called king style haircut, asides that no one even spares me a glance.“what sup Jane?” I know she is angry, but that don’t mean you have to treat me like a tool, just because you are currently angry.“are you happy now?” she asks me, I have to turn towards my back to see if someone else is there.“quit turning Steve I am speaking to you. Are you happy now!” her voice is cracked from raw emotions, its just like she’s painting her emotions for me to see?.“what do you mean am I happy now, I don’t get you?”She walks up to me, her bony finger in the air, her eyes tells me how extremely angry she is.“you know what, just know how ever this marriage goes, you will never live in peace, I wil
Jane’s point of view:“we called this meeting because, we know, what we want, and we want peace on social media” my mom, only if she knew how much I would give right now, to squeeze her neck.“and I and Shirley, we’ve reached a score, and It will be between the two parties” I sat opposite Steve, and my mom sat opposite Shirley. My mom takes a gulp of water then drops her glass, then looks up at Steve with disdain. She continues.“so, about the marriage” she looks at me nervously.“we need to know how the relationship arrangement will be, between Steve and jane, and uh, Shirley has a contract, she will need the both of you to sign, that is after going through it Jane” looking at steven she gives him a blank look.“Steve, you will have to go through the contract too, its not like you have anything to lose”Says mom to Steve.
Stevens point of view:Running my eyes through a lot of things, my schedule and I am so grateful for Shirley, she’s been my shield, my friend and a very great manager, I am really happy with all she keeps on doing.“so, there’s no time for break then, its work throughout the week” I definitely am not complaining I mean it’s an upgrade from what I used to believe, there’s a lot of earnings, and there’s been a massive publicity so far, and for that alone I am joyous my mind keeps going back and forth from before and now, from an extremely rich person, that comes from a very prestigious home, to someone who doesn’t even have a home, someone who doesn’t even know where the next meal will be coming from, then to a model who is trending all over social model, both trolls and fans all of which promote me.As I seat on top a chair in the dressing room waiting for my photographer my mind wanders towards Jane, which have been happening a
THREE MONTHS LATER: Jane’s point of view:After the whole charade, it paid off, first we have Steven travelling around the world and making a name for the company, and we have us getting married two weeks ago, it wasn’t a nice experience if I have to be completely honest, and it’s even worse because I and Steve have to play lovey dovely again, since we have aunt Martha coming over for dinner soon enough. As usual I and Steve are in the same room but it looks like we aren’t, he’s scrolling through his phone, and I am just here staring at the ceiling, praying so hard that mom or Shirley comes. Finally we hear the clicks of heels, oh I know who it is already before she even shows her face, mom walks down the stairs trying so hard to make the best impressions she’s all smiles and immediately the silly plans we both made to strip Steven bare of any fortune he has, has me feeling so guilty, I even use my hand
