MasukOtis's POV
"Well, if you're that curious to know, I guess it's time we let you know how you became our miracle baby” dad teased, tickling me as I let out a little chuckle. “The morning I gave birth to you”… mom began, “you were so beautiful, having glistening brown eyes that seemed to hold the strongest emotions anytime I looked into them, your dark hair was as shiny as olive and I couldn't get my eyes off you.” “I laid you down for a nap so I could also have a little rest of my own. But when I realized you've slept for too long, I decided to wake you up as I carried you up wanting to see those beautiful eyes of yours again”. Mom smiled and curtsied for me to come to her. “So I had dark hair, I muttered to myself while Dad placed me on the floor to go meet mom”. “My eyes aren't brown!” I said, casting a questioning gaze to my mom. “Calm yourself down, we will soon get to the part where everything changed” mom curtsied with her hands for me to come closer as she picked me up, continuing her story. “I carried you up but I could no longer feel your pulse as I pressed my ears close to your chest, with urgency in my voice I called out to the doctors requesting their presence, my voice sounded across the hospital as the doctor came in immediately wasting no time, your dad also followed behind” She paused. “He examined you and told us you were already dead and there was nothing we could do to revive you”. “Wait… I DIED??? But I'm still here” with shock evident in my voice, I looked up at my mom as she patted my back. “Yes you did but you were soon revived after your dad and I took you to the Lumar. He placed you inside and we waited outside praying endlessly to the moon goddess”. “What's a Lumar?” I asked cutting mom's story. “It's a sacred place Goddess Artemis blessed, and it's also rumored that she always appears there when the moon is at the center of the sky, now no more interruptions!” she warned while she turned my head to look at her face. “Yes mom!” I said, nodding my head. “Before dawn, we could hear your cries as your dad rushed inside to bring you but I was shocked when I saw your transformation. If I hadn't recognized those looks in your eyes, the one you had when I first looked at you, I would have mistaken you for someone else's child. Looking into your emerald eyes, I could see vibrant life in them, I could feel nature and the warm feeling of spring, that's why we call you our Otis.” I recalled all these as a teardrop escaped my eyes and rolled down my cheeks, how I missed my parents so much, now all I have to live for is revenge, and revenge I must have. I hurried out to join the rest of the trainers on the training field, and as I stepped in, I could hear their whispers thanks to my super hearing and sharp senses, almost nothing get passed me unnoticed. “Here comes little miss perfect” I heard one of the girls say. I don't get how uniqueness is interpreted as weird by these little dumb heads. Well I'm not here for them I mutter to myself approaching the sandbag, today's a good day and I won't let them spoil it for me. We, the females are only given one day in a week to train, as a ladies job is not only to look after the house. Commander Ryan educated us about the importance of training as ladies to be able to defend ourselves if there's an attack and chose a day each week for females to train. I've been looking forward to this day all week and nothing would spoil it for me, I focused on the sandbag in front of me as I punched it with all my might, but the little I could do was to get it to wiggle. I only started training with the sandbags about 2 weeks ago, But my strength couldn't even get it to move. I've been working on my dodging and defense before Commander Ryan could even think of the idea of getting women to train, and that was my specialty. I figured if I couldn't have the strength to fight back, it's better I work on my defense as it could go a long way. I'm good at dodging because of my sharp senses and I'm currently building up my defense. Everyone went about their training in groups of twos, three's and even five’s but I have no one to associate with, this sandbag’s my new companion. I kept on punching it while I made it my gist partner telling it of how quickly I wanted to get stronger to avenge my pack. After revenge, what next? This thought quickly crossed my mind, making me stop to reminisce. After revenge… what next? I asked myself. Well, I haven't even gotten close to having my revenge to even think of life after that, maybe I'll find my mate and we'll live happily ever after. I thought this in my mind as I smiled sheepishly to myself. The sun's burning bright up and my body's already soaked with sweat, just then did the gong sounded, this signals the end of the training session and also lunch hour. We all rushed out of the training ground to the cafeteria to receive our lunch. When I got there, a long queue had already lined up, and I quickly joined the line to avoid being chanced by another person. I waited patiently in line and when it got to my turn, I collected my food and left to look for a quiet place to sit. I found the perfect spot at the extreme end of the hall facing the wall, and I set out to go sit there. “Great, now to avoid any form of eye contact,” I said to myself. “Hey, white hair!” someone called out my supposed nickname. turning back, I saw Ryn and Mila approaching me. I just can't go a day without these little demons looking for ways to oppress me. Ryn is Commander Ryan’s pup, a very arrogant and self obsessed b*tch, Mia's her cohort. They like the stars and moon, hardly ever to be seen without each other. “What do you want?” I said when they got within a range to hear me. “We just wanna play or are you so perfect to the point that you can't associate with us?” Ryn smirked, turning to Mila.Otis' POV: “I propose a duel… A swordfight to determine the winner, the loser has to forfeit the throne and the winner gets to become Alpha.” Damien suggested to the crowd and to Roshan, a loud uproar came from the crowd showing their approval of the suggestion. The plan was about to kick in, just one touch of the poisoned sword and the rest would be history. The two men put on their armor and they were led to the ring by the battle officiator, Damien immediately cut in front of Roshan as he rushed to the sword rack to pick the sword in the left rack… the plan instantly set into motion. Roshan looked at me from the ring, though I couldn't hear what he said but his facial expression says it all. “Just hang in there a little, this will all be over very soon.” I felt I heard him say. “For the realm, for justice… draw steel!” The battle officiator's voice shut through the crowd and the fight began. They both unsheathed their swords as it glistened when touched by the sword,
Roshan's POV: Everyone's eyes were widened in anticipation awaiting the opening of the chest to reveal the crescent jewel but I knew it wouldn't work. I stared closely at Nafia from time to time, seeing the expression on her face I could tell she wasn't the least interested in what was happening before her, instead her eyes wandered in the crowd, I knew I was the one she was searching for. The blood began to drop on the lock of the chest and at this point, I also anticipated what would happen next. Time seemed to pass by slowly at the moment and I was already running out of patience. Everyone's gaze was now on the chest, expecting it to open but to their surprise, it didn't. This was the perfect time for me to reveal myself to my Pack and redeem my people from the hold of Luna Morgana and her son. I immediately left where I was standing to go stand in the middle of the field. I could hear murmurs erupting from the crowd and I knew I was the reason for such uproar. I could
Otis' POV: I couldn't sleep because of the pain in my arm. Now I understood where the pains went. I laid on the ground facing the other side pretending to be asleep so he wouldn't know that I was hurting. It took a while for the pain to die down. When the pain was completely gone, I took a deep breath, finally relaxing. Now I tried to sleep, but the ground was cold and I felt like I was breathing in dust, but it didn't seem as terrible as the first time I was here, at least I have Adrian with me. Turning around I found Adrian sleeping with no problem, I was glad my powers did help him as I couldn't live with the fact that I was the reason he got injured. My mind immediately drifted to Roshan, what would he be doing at this moment? Would he be laying in the forest unaware of the situation on ground now? Did he know I had been put in the dungeon?... I don't know why but I wasn't worried about being in here as I had the hope that Roshan would surely come to my rescue. With that
Otis' POV: This man's name was Boaz. The crowd cheered his name as the fight started, but once he missed a strike, the chanting lessened and when he missed three strikes; it became quiet. It looked like he never missed before, but I was smaller and quicker than him. I easily stepped away from each strike with little effort thanks to my enhanced dodging skills. Boaz frowned, his face hardened. He tightened his grip on the sword and made himself ready to attack, this time showing no mercy. But he still could not even hit me once. Adrian knew I was provoking him on purpose. Warming him up while entertaining the crowd. I felt like I could easily finish him, but there was no fun in that. I looked up to see where Damien sat. He tried to remain calm, but I could see the worry in his eyes, he should not have bargained with a fight. When Boaz became a little tired, I began my attack. My sword hit his shield with such force that he stumbled a few steps back. Gasps came from the cro
Otis' POV: I slowly snuck out of the villa’s premises, trying to recollect the route to Roshan's house, the moon was already out in the sky and I was leaving the villa, more people were trooping in for the feast, the training ground building stood before me and I stood still trying to figure out what route to follow. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings as many unfamiliar faces surrounded me, all rushing off to the feast. Suddenly, two giant hands grabbed my arms on both sides. What is happening? I looked around confused only to find Alpha Damien's guards had already surrounded me. “Let go of me! Why are you taking me?” I got no reply as they dragged me with little effort back to the villa. Why is this happening now? I needed to get across to Roshan… What games does Damien want to play now? Instead of taking me to the villa, they brought me directly to where the feast was being held. When we arrived at the field, I was surprised at the amount of people who turned up
Otis' POV: It was the eve of the coronation night and Alpha Damien had declared a feast for all the pack members to be held in the same spot where the coronation would be held. It had been a long tiring day as I felt like I had been given the most strenuous tasks. Madam Kalliope had been too busy in the kitchen so she couldn't come to my rescue. I was single handedly left to clean the west wing of the villa alone, I had been upset that I wasn't given the same duties as Ylva and Lydia as they were walking out on the field preparing for the feast. “The coronation is tomorrow mom, we're running out of time!” I heard a sudden raised voice from one of the rooms. The voice was so familiar that I knew at a shot that it was Damien, but what could he be doing here? I walked in closer to the room where I heard his voice from. It wasn't my intention to eavesdrop but my curiosity was like a siren's call pulling me towards the room. “Why don't we just send the guards to capture him
