Travis just couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched. Could it be the cheerleaders always offering to take care of his ‘needs’? It could be, but this felt different somehow. It was like someone evil was watching him but he had no idea why that would happen? Everytime Travis looked around or really entertained the idea he was being watched, he didn’t see anyone there. He began to think he was just paranoid and let the idea go. Travis went to class, played football, and studied. That was the extent of his activities ach week; he didn’t party, he didn’t work, and he didn’t date. To get into medical school, he had to keep his GPA up. Medical school was too important to allow anything to distract him. Sure, he went back to the pack most weekends and let his wolf out, but it was less than an hour away. Allowing his wolf to run on weekends gave him better control to live as a human and control his animal side during the week. Regardless how he felt about living in the pack dormitory, he missed the closeness to others of his kind. Travis also missed the feeling of being an important part of a whole. That’s what a wolf pack was, a whole with parts that functioned to make the whole pack stronger and healthier. Travis’s job in that pack was to become a doctor. It was also a possibility Travis may eventually be called upon to accept the Alpha position, but he sincerely hoped that was a long way off.
Travis couldn’t help but think of all the things he hoped to accomplish in his future before he would give up his life as an Alpha for his pack. That’s what Travis had witnessed his parents do after they took over. The former Alpha had been killed in a terrible accident, and Travis’s father being the stand up, responsible wolf/man he was, took over the pack as a young wolf of only thirty winters old. Travis was about ten at the time and remembered most of it well. Travis hopes to have a mate one day that he adored and loved as much as his father did his mother. As of now, he would keep Susan on his short list, because she was one fierce she wolf. In fact, Travis could not remember responding like he does to her for anyone else. Susan did not seem all that interested in getting to know him, but then Travis didn’t have time for dating anyway. He would of course do his job and spend time with her on Saturday. Heck, he may even enjoy it, but he had too many obligations for anything to come of it right now.
As Travis went to enter the main door of the college fraternity he and his teammates belonged to, his senses flared again with the feeling he was being watched. Looking back, there was a man across the street that appeared to be looking at his phone. Travis thought he saw that man in the library earlier too, when he gave Susan her invite. What the heck, was he being followed? Although he couldn’t see the man’s face, his appearance was similar, maybe identical to the man from the library. Travis decided he would start paying closer attention here on campus even though he was only aware of two wolves, Susan and himself in the whole college. Maybe it wasn’t wise, but Travis simply didn’t see humans as a threat due to their inferior strength, speed, and senses. If Travis could scent the man once, he would know if he ever crossed his path again. Unfortunately the man was over across the street and down wind. Travis went in the door, up the steps to his room, and remained within the fraternity just like every other night after practice. Since the fraternity was full of athletes, their house was right next to the gym which was adjacent to the athletic fields. It made life much easier, not having to worry about driving and parking everytime he left the house. Honestly, if it weren’t so convenient and made such financial sense, Travis wouldn’t live on campus at all.
Travis began to study and before he knew it, it was time for bed. 8AM classes came whether he liked it or not.
7AM, Travis’s alarm went off and he readied himself for the day. Once his supplies were ready, he placed his back pack on his back, headed out the door, and jogged to the cafeteria for breakfast. Being an athlete and a werewolf Travis consumed huge amounts of food, especially protein, to help support muscle growth and function and keep him at his ideal weight for competition. This was the last season Travis would play college ball. He knew he would be too busy in medical school and would never pass the screenings for the NFL, because of being a werewolf. Ironically, college didn’t test for wolf DNA, but the NFL did. Travis enjoyed playing competitively but kn
Susan was in her room studying Wednesday night after work when there was a knock on her door. “Come in.”The door opened and in strode Tia. Susan looked up at her and smiled, but got a very serious look in return. “Luna, w
Susan’s dream started out like any other, but soon warped into something not quite so normal and not so enjoyable. It was a gorgeous fall afternoon. There were brightly colored leaves blowing around in the mild wind and it was still light, but getting darker by the second. Susan was walking in this field alone until she saw Travis jogging toward her in jeans and a sweatshirt; his brown, curly hair bounced across his forehead with every step. His smile was so big, the white of his smile was evident even from a distance. Susan couldn’t help but return his smile and move in his direction with open arms. As Travis reaches Susan, he wraps his arms around her, one
Allison was back to her old self and was now smiling and talking occasionally once again. Susan loved spending time with her when she was feeling well. “After supper, we will do a quick bath, and then should we go for a walk?” Susan asked Allison with an uplilit to her voice. Allison of course responded excitedly, moving her arms and legs and nodding her head. Susan couldn’t help but smile at the smiley young lady. The night flew by, and at 9PM, Susan left a sleeping Allison in the care of her mother. “It was a much better night. Hopefully she will sleep well for you. I did my best to wear her out with fun and fresh air.” Susan reporte
Susan slung her backpack over one shoulder and jogged up to her room, slamming the door. Susan began to pace back and forth, talking out loud to no one in particular, “Mates? Could Travis really be my mate? If so, would he want me?”
Susan didn’t set her alarm Saturday because for a change she didn’t need to. When she made that decision, she had no intention of sleeping until 10AM. Hopefully the extra sleep will help build her immune system as she heads into flu season. Werewolves rarely got sick, but when they did, it was often serious because not all human medicines worked on werewolves. So depending on the illness, options for treatment were limited. Pain was very difficult to treat in her kind because a wolf metabolizes medications so quickly that the relief is very short lived. Susan may be studying human medicine, but had several books she had procured throughout the years regarding
Travis led Susan around the log pack house which consisted of a huge dining area filled with tables as you entered the door, and extended to the left. Behind the dining area was a large kitchen full of Omegas buzzing around cooking and putting final preparations in place for the BBQ. The kitchen had all Stainless steel countertops, two double ovens, four sinks in a row against the back wall, and an industrial sized dishwasher to help speed clean up. Smoke could be seen through the back windows and Travis noticed Susan looking. “There is a huge attached deck full of picnic tables out back. I’ll show you when we’re done in here.” Travis smiled and h
Being a werewolf, Susan had never been afraid to eat. Wolves have a higher metabolism than humans and the change which she would be undergoing for the run tonight, took a lot of energy and thus calories. Susan loaded up her plate with food and went back over to help Alpha Gannon and Luna Caitriona with the pups. The last several days the pregnancy had been catching up with Cat, so Susan wanted to do all she could to help out. When Susan arrived back at the table, Cat was sitting with Theo, and Gannon had the other three up at the food line. Amazingly, the twins were holding their own plates and walking along like big kids for Dad. Susan offered to hold Theo so Cat could
