LOGINKIKI POV
Taylor and I didn’t have as much in common as I had thought. I mean who went to parties on a Monday night? Taylor. And when she asked me to join her at Grove club I didn’t think about it twice, I needed the club to clear my head. I took a shot, the taste of wine burning on my tongue and closing my eyes didn’t make it any sweeter. “You will grow into it, trust me” Taylor laughed at my facial expression Trust a girl I just met days ago? Well jokes on me I trusted a man enough to sleep with him that night. “I hope so,” I replied, dropping the tiny shot glass. Talk about bad influence? That was Taylor except that I was an adult and I had my decisions to make. “Kiki, loosen the fuck up!” Taylor pushed my shoulder a little to tease me. “It’s just…I don’t really party,” “Seriously?” she looked at me in surprise “But you came the last time,” “That was because I had just caught Jordan cheating and needed a distraction,” “I am really sorry if you are not the party type I totally understand and shouldn’t invite you out next time,” “It’s fine, I like parties but don’t usually do them often” I replied smiling at her apology “Well now we are friends and I am always the life of the party that makes you one too.” Taylor smiled taking another shot “Let’s drink, to celebrate your new job,” “I hate my job already, Mr Montgomery is demanding and hard to please,” “Then quit, cook up a believable story for your brother,” Taylor shrugged “Come work with me at the boutique,” Fashion wasn’t really my thing. I have always wanted a career in IT besides that Jordan lawsuit needed serious money to handle. “Thank you Taylor,” I smiled. “I am just on probation, if I work hard enough I will get promoted.” “Well you would work hard tomorrow, tonight we party!” Taylor raised her glasses into the air and the next thing we were dancing carefree on the dance floor. Shot after shot, the adrenaline in my blood was pumping but I couldn’t care less. I swayed my waist to the rhythm of the music, my hair bouncing, literally having fun, that was the most free I had ever been. At that moment I didn’t care about my size, I just allowed my body to move. “Hey, nice moves you have got there,” a masculine voice interrupted me before I could turn, his body was already on mine. I enjoyed dancing solo, the last time I had danced with a stranger it resulted into something else. I pulled myself away from the stranger. “Thank you, I am fine dancing alone,” I responded, immediately returning to my dance moves. “Come on I don’t bite,” he said calmly and we both burst out laughing. Okay, I could actually calm the fuck down he seemed like a nice guy. “I brought you water, I know you will be thirsty after all those moves,” “Very nice of you,” I smiled at him while still dancing to the music. “So here, quench your thirst a little,” he shoved one of the glasses to me while holding the other. I took the glass from him, and raised it to my mouth but before I could even take a gulp a firm hand pulled my shoulder, slapping the glass away from my hand. “What the actual fuck?” I shouted before I turned around to see my boss, standing there with anger in his eyes. Next thing the stranger who had offered me water scurried away, disappearing into the pool of dancing people. Mr Montgomery didn’t say a word to me, he just gripped my hand leading me away from the dance club. I was light headed but when I finally got my balance I planted my feet to a spot. “What are you doing?“ I blurted trying to yank my hand away from his grip “Taking you home,” Mr Montgomery replied, not sparing me as much as a glance, he continued walking, causing me to walk too. At the car park, the night breeze made shivers run down my spine. Mr Montgomery used his remote control and his car headlight beamed in the night “Were you following me?” I asked before getting into the car. “Don’t flatter yourself, your brother asked me to take you home,” he replied sternly, walking to the driver side of the car. How did Harry know where I was? My ears were ringing and my head was spinning. I shut the car door. Oh true, I posted my location and some dancing videos I did on my snap story. He should have come himself rather than telling Mr Montgomery to take me home like I was still a teenager who had curfew. “Was pushing the glass away even necessary?” I breathed out, fumbling with the seat belt as Mr Montgomery drove. Shit, yes. I was angry he had to make me look like I was a fool. “You should never take a drink from anyone in a club, not even your friend,” Oh please, that sounded like a lecture. What does he know about Gen Z parties? I shouldn't drink even from Taylor. His life was obviously circling around partying with people his age. I looked in his direction, his jaw was clenched and he focused on the road ahead. “What do you know about parties, huh?” I blurted before I could stop myself, god damn it, whenever I get drunk or even a little tipsy I start saying things I shouldn’t “Enough that you don’t know,” he replied, stopping the car at the red traffic light. “Crazy, I bet the time we met was the first time you went to a party,” I spoke again, before I could control myself. For the first time, Mr Montgomery turned to me. Those bold eyes fixed on mine, unblinking. He took off his seat belt, leaning towards me from his seat, What was he doing? His face was just an inch from mine. He was going to kiss me. God I wanted this man again. I wanted him to kiss me. My breath caught, I remembered that night, the way his lips nibbled on my skin and suddenly the car felt small. That night, the way he had looked at me, touched me… He was going to do it again, right there, in the car, in the middle of the road while the traffic light was counting down to green. Green, that was his favourite color. I closed my eyes, I couldn’t wait for his lips to meet mine again. “Get out,” Mr Montgomery breathed out moving his hand to unlock the door of the car.KIKI POV “Who did that to you?”I swallowed a lump down my throat. Everyone was waiting for me to say something. My eyes were fixed on Mr. Montgomery but my eyes somehow trailed to Miss Burgundry who was standing behind his seat. She was his secretary. She was the reason I fell and tore my gown in the hallway.Stacy—that was the name Corey had called her back in the office.I would get back at her, but not like that. I was bullied in high school and the last thing I did was allow someone else to fight my bullies for me.“I…uh lost my step in the hallway,” I said Immediately Miss Burgundry’s face eased a little, she may think I let it slide just this time. But I don’t want to look like the new employee who ran to the CEO because someone tore her dress. “And?” Mr. Montgomery didn’t let the topic drop.“I didn’t expect the cabinet to…to,”“Enough!” Mr. Montgomery lashed out, Oh dear Lord, what if he knew I was lying, I could lose my damn job and that Stacy girl wouldn’t even be bot
KIKI POV I swear I may still be drunk. What the hell was I thinking when I decided to kiss Mr. Montgomery? How dare he even kiss me back? Why didn’t he shove me away, yell at me and throw me out of his office? Why didn’t he fire me? I like the way he kissed me…. “Stop dreaming, Kiki,” I muttered under my breath. He was way out of my league, had a side hustle as a womanizer and to top it, my brother’s friend. Even if I found him attractive and was turned on by his presence that was the last thing I would ever let him know. Right, my brother. We didn’t have the closest relationship so we rarely talked but I made a mental note to call him after work. I had just arrived back at my office, taking in a deep breath as I scanned through the spread sheet I was supposed to turn in tomorrow. The door of my office flew open and Miss Burgundy stepped inside “I underestimated you,” she purred. “You have been promoted so you have a new office, and this is your new employment clause,”
NATHAN POV Last night when I dropped off Kiki and drove away, by the time I realized I was speeding, it was already too late. A police car was trailing closely behind me with the blaring siren, flashing blue and red lights so I could pull over. Even though I had just dumped my best friend's sister kilometers away yet I could still hear her voice, how she had spoken to me. Throwing her out of my car didn’t even relieve how insulted and disrespected I felt, no one, I mean no one, had the right to do that to me. If I let it slide the first time, then it would repeat again and again. My rule of life was not to tolerate any bullshit the first time. I pulled over, looking at the rearview mirror as the police officer approached my car “Running late for dinner?” The police officer asked me, stopping to look at me through my open window. “I didn’t realize I was speeding.” I didn’t smile. I had never been a people pleaser. “Can I see your ID?” I removed the seat belt, le

KIKI “Get out,” Wait, what? We were in the middle of the road, late at night and…Nathan pushed the car door wide then leaned back in his seat. This wasn’t a joke.“Sir, with all due respect…”Fuck it, he didn’t deserve even an ounce of my respect.“…you should have just left me in the club instead of driving all the way here to kick me out of your car”Mr Montgomery didn’t say a word, he just looked straight ahead, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel and his jaw twitching. I sighed, pulling myself and my bag together so I could leave his damn car. I didn’t realize the red traffic light had turned green, Mr. Montgomery hit the accelerator, moving the car with my side of the door still open.“Jesus!” I exclaimed, then he stopped. “I don’t have time to waste,” he turned to“What if I had fallen out of the moving car? I shouted. “Are you trying to get me killed?”What other answer was I looking for? Clearly he was. Cars behind began to honk impatiently for him to move. Mr. M
