Chapter 5

Logan POV

It was time for Dylan to start shifting. Alpha David had called everyone to gather around. Logan got up and walked over, he checked his phone again. Emma was supposed to text him when she got in the car. He prayed to the moon goddess that nothing went wrong. There was still no text from her. He put his phone back in his pocket.

He watched as Dylan started his shift. As soon as he started to shift, he could feel pain. It was coming from Emma. He pulled out his phone and text her and asked her if she was ok. No reply. He was getting worried. The more Dylan started to shift, the more intense the pain became. He was a little over half way into his shift when they all heard a blood curling scream come from the side of the house and the pain he was feeling from Emma stopped.

Logan immediately took off towards the side of the house, he knew that was Emma. The thought of something happening to her terrified him. Dylan stopped his shift, and everyone was running behind Logan. He got to her first, she was unconscious, laying on the ground.

“Get a doctor here now!!” Logan screamed.

Alpha David and Dylan was there. Alpha David had his phone out calling their pack doctor. Logan could hear the other Alphas whispering wondering who this girl was.

Logan checked her pulse, her heart was beating way too fast, and she was burning up. He picked her up and carried her around the back and into the house. Dylan disappeared for a minute before reappearing at his side.

“What’s wrong with her?” Dylan asked.

“I don’t know. Where is that doctor?” Logan demanded.

“He is on his way, bring her in here.” Alpha David said as he led the way to his office.

Logan gently put her down on the sofa. He sat beside her and held her hand.

“Alpha Logan, will you please move aside.” Alpha David said.

Logan just looked at him and growled. Alpha David put up his hands and stepped backwards. Dylan came up and grabbed his father.

“Get everyone out of here and go wait for the doctor.” Dylan said.

Alpha David turned and left the office, pushing the other Alpha’s out.

“I put her bag in the backseat of your car.” Dylan told Logan.

“Thank you. What happened?” Logan asked.

“I don’t know. She made it to my room but the guard on the third floor was going up to her floor so I ran to my room and told her to go now and I ran back out. I came down just in time for Dad to say it was time for my shift.” Dylan explained.

“I felt her pain, it stopped after she screamed.” Logan said worriedly.

It felt like forever before the pack doctor finally got there. He examined her but he couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

Logan was pacing the floor, growling. Dylan trying to keep him calm, David wondering why Logan was acting this way and why he refused to leave and almost bit his head off when he suggested to Logan that it was time for him to leave.

This doctor was completely incompetent. He pulled out his phone and called his own pack doctor. He explained what he knew happened. The doctor told Logan to bring her to him immediately, and to bring Dylan.

Logan went to pick her up when David moved in between them.

“What do you think you are doing?” He asked Logan.

“I am taking her and Dylan to my pack doctor.” Logan said.

“I’m sorry Alpha Logan, but I cannot let you take my daughter anywhere. She will remain here.”

Logan let out a growl that shook the whole room and everyone in the room was cowering.

“I will take my mate, and you will not stop me, and if you try, there will be hell to pay. I can promise you that Alpha David!” Logan roared at him.

“Your mate?” David asked.

“I don’t have time for your questions. Dylan, get in my car, we are leaving now.”

Logan picked Emma up and left without another word. Dylan was waiting at the car when Logan got there, he opened the door and slid in the backseat. Logan handed him Emma as gently as he could. He shut the door and got in the driver’s seat and started the car. He sped down the mile long driveway and got to the gate, it was already opened and waiting for them to leave. At least Alpha David was being smart enough to not try and stop him.

He put his foot on the gas and floored it, his car speeding towards his pack. On a good day it takes almost two hours to get from his pack’s territory to David’s. He hoped he could cut that time in half and prayed to the moon goddess that Emma could hold on that long. He didn’t know what was wrong with her, but when he told his pack doctor what happened, the fear in his doctor’s voice scared the shit out of Logan. He has not once heard fear in his doctor’s voice, or seen it in his face or eyes. To hear it now, Logan knew this had to be really bad, like losing his mate bad. That was one thing he refused to let happen.
