Footsteps approached, the sharp click of heels echoing down the hallway. The door swung open. Standing in the doorway of Vale's office was a lady in a long sparkling red gown with a thigh-high slit, her blonde hair tumbling past her shoulders, looking straight at Smith.

"Hi, Smith," she said.

"Chloe!" Smith said, surprised, not expecting to see her after such a long time. "Oh my goodness, what are you doing here? You never told me you were coming back from London," he said.

"Is this how you treat your guest, hmm?"

"I'm here to see you," she said. "Smith Vale, the only billionaire in the whole of New York City that is feared. And when he wants something, he gets it by force, with his power and his own way," she said seductively.

Smith gave a warm smile and said, "So what do you want?" He asked.

"Does your dad know you're here?" He asked again.

"Oh, please..." she said. "I am not a child anymore who has to tell my dad everywhere I go. Besides, I'm a grown woman now," she said.

"I'm here because I miss you," she said.

She moved closer to Smith's desk, grabbed his tie, and pulled herself closer to him. Her hand rested on his chest as she leaned in, whispering slowly into his ear, "I want you." Her breath was warm against his skin, and the words hung in the air between them like a dare.

Immediately, he pulled her close, his hand sliding beneath her thigh as he lifted her onto the table. His lips found hers — slow at first, then deeper, like a hunger that had been held back too long.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry, Sir," Esther said.

"I was knocking and you didn't answer, so I came in to check if you were fine. I'm so sorry, Sir," she said, her face facing the floor, not looking at them.

"What the heck! Who is she?" Chloe asked.

"Get out. Now!" Smith said angrily.

"Smith, I repeat, who is she? She looks like a lost sheep wandering somewhere she doesn't belong."

"Stop it!" Smith said angrily, hitting his fist on the desk.

"Are you okay?" Chloe asked.

"Do not ever talk about her like that again. And remember, she is my staff, so treat her with some respect," he said, pointing at her. Then he straightened his tie and sat down to continue his work on his laptop.

Chloe gave a side smile and asked, "Since when did you start caring for your staff members? The Smith I know couldn't care less, let alone for a pauper," she said.

She angrily left, disbelief written all over her face. The door banged shut behind her. Everyone watched as she came out of the elevator and walked to the exit, heading straight to her car without stopping, her mind replaying what Smith had said to her. Chloe got into her car and screamed with disbelief, then sped off.

"She's going to pay!" Chloe muttered. "I am Chloe Wolf. No one dares the Wolfs and lives to tell the story," she said furiously, a dangerous smile formed slowly on her face.

Inside the room, the only sound was the quiet rhythm of Smith's breathing. Esther lay with her head resting completely against his bare chest. The heavy wool blanket was tangled somewhere around their waists, her mind entirely quiet for the first time in years. Smith's hand rested in her hair."You're quiet," Smith said. She tilted her head up, resting her chin on his chest so she could look at him."I'm just thinking about my mom," Esther said, looking into his eyes."About that — my men found your mother's phone outside the house. They also went inside to check if anyone was there but found no one. So," he said, exhaling, "they found this — your mom's phone, which was used to track your location." "If my mom isn't at home, then where is she?" She said, sounding disturbed."Smith, she took my mom too," Esther said, crying, pulling the blanket around herself as she got up from the bed."Calm down," Smith said."Who is she?" He asked."It…"Esther was trying to say the name when Smit

In his living room, Smith Vale couldn't get Esther out of his mind throughout the day and night. He was drinking heavily, sobbing, and hoping that one day she would come back to him — that he would hug her so tight and never let go, and finally pour out his feelings to her."Tell me, where are you, Esther?" He said to himself. "Come back. I promise to make it right this time and tell you how I've felt all this time, choosing to pretend I didn't care…I miss you, Esther." He said, crying.A knock at the door. He rushed to open it. It was Esther. He hugged her so tightly, never wanting to let her go for even a second."Please don't leave me again, Esther," he said."Smith! I'm not Esther!" The voice sounded like Chloe's.Immediately, he realised it was his imagination and pulled away from her."Chloe. What are you doing here?" he asked."I'm here because I was told you haven't been to the office for days, so I decided to come see you." "Why are you killing yourself with drinks? Stop it
