LOGINShe couldn't hold herself — she broke down crying, feeling bitter as she remembered what happened on prom night. She was tired of life, hoping that one day she would meet her mom in heaven. Esther didn't know that her father was one of the most feared and respected man — the biggest tycoon in the whole of Manhattan in New York City.
"But what she never knew was that there was a mystery behind her birth."
She kept cleaning the counter, fidgeting and crying silently, not knowing that Smith was watching and feeling bad for what he had done.
"Leave," he said, with a calm voice.
She walked away and closed the door behind her.
"Mr. Smith, Mr. Pears Wolf is here."
"Okay. Get the documents prepared," he said softly.
"Yes, Sir," Linda said.
Pears Wolf was a business associate of ValeX Technologies. Pears said calmly, "Good to see you again."
"Welcome. Come, let's go to the office," said Smith. They both smiled and shook hands.
"Please, sit," said Smith.
"Thank you," Pears said calmly.
"So, this is the home of the world's best technology system, Mr. Pears," said Smith. "I'd like to tell you that the drone production would be life-changing for humanity and the future," he said, smiling.
"As one of the…" Pears began, then lost his train of thought completely after catching a glimpse of Esther outside the glass door, cleaning the floor. He tried to repeat what he wanted to say but was still distracted by her face — she reminded him of someone from his past. Someone he had eliminated from his past. He couldn't think straight.
"Are you okay, Mr. Pears?" Smith said, glancing outside the glass door to figure out what had caught his attention. When he noticed Esther outside, he fumed. He grabbed his phone and called Linda.
And said in a low but aggressive voice, "Tell that girl to leave the front of my office. Immediately. Now." He dropped the phone, his fist clenched. Then he smiled again. "Are you okay, Mr. Pears?"
"Yes, I am," Pears said.
When he turned again to look for Esther, she was gone — he caught only a glimpse of her walking away from the door.
"Are you sure, Mr. Pears?" Smith asked with concern.
"Yes, I am."
But before he could speak again, he was struck still. Standing outside the glass door was a face that shook him to his core — a woman who looked exactly like someone he had wronged many years ago.
Could this be Emilia? Or am I losing my mind? Pears said to himself. No…no…this can't be. My past cannot come back to me…no…no… he said silently in his mind.
"Mr. Pears." Smith called.
"Yes! Oh, I apologise for the distraction earlier," Pears said. "This is wonderful news and I am truly proud of you, Smith," Pears said, calmly, though his heart was rattled.
"Thank you, Sir," Mr. Smith said, smiling.
"I have to get going. I have a meeting with my board later," Pears said, rising from his seat.
"Of course," said Smith.
"It was a pleasure having you here” shaking Pears' hand.
As he walked toward the door, he glanced at Esther again. This time, Esther looked back at him as she stepped out of the elevator — and what he saw in her face stopped him cold. He turned quickly, walked straight to the exit where his escort hurried to meet him.
"Alex, open the car," he said, getting in.
"Boss, where are we going?" Alex said.
"Take me home." The car sped off.
They arrived at the Penthouse. Alex opened the door as Pears stepped out. "Are you okay, Sir?" Alex asked. He was Pears' most trusted bodyguard.
"Yes, I am. Thank you, Alex," Pears said.
"Daddy!" A voice rang out from the staircase. A tall, elegant, and beautiful lady called out and came rushing down to hug him.
"Chloe?!" Pears said, shocked to see her. "What are you doing here? What do you want? Why are you in the state? What brought you here?" Pears said, calmly but with a deeply disturbed heart.
"Dad, why all the questions? Aren't you happy to see me? I missed you, Daddy, and that's why I came back to spend time with the most lovely man in the whole world," Chloe said, laughing. "I love you, Dad."
"I love you, dear," Pears said, still disturbed but covering his worry with a faint smile. "I've missed you so much. Now that you're around, everything will go smoothly," he said softly.
Chloe smiled and said, "You're right, Dad. Watch how I handle things around here." They both laughed. "I have to go to my room now, Dad. Bye for now."
As the door closed behind him, Pears turned and said quietly, "Find out who that girl from ValeX Tech is and bring me everything about her."
"Yes, Sir," a voice from behind responded, and the door closed.
Inside the room, the only sound was the quiet rhythm of Smith's breathing. Esther lay with her head resting completely against his bare chest. The heavy wool blanket was tangled somewhere around their waists, her mind entirely quiet for the first time in years. Smith's hand rested in her hair."You're quiet," Smith said. She tilted her head up, resting her chin on his chest so she could look at him."I'm just thinking about my mom," Esther said, looking into his eyes."About that — my men found your mother's phone outside the house. They also went inside to check if anyone was there but found no one. So," he said, exhaling, "they found this — your mom's phone, which was used to track your location." "If my mom isn't at home, then where is she?" She said, sounding disturbed."Smith, she took my mom too," Esther said, crying, pulling the blanket around herself as she got up from the bed."Calm down," Smith said."Who is she?" He asked."It…"Esther was trying to say the name when Smit
In his living room, Smith Vale couldn't get Esther out of his mind throughout the day and night. He was drinking heavily, sobbing, and hoping that one day she would come back to him — that he would hug her so tight and never let go, and finally pour out his feelings to her."Tell me, where are you, Esther?" He said to himself. "Come back. I promise to make it right this time and tell you how I've felt all this time, choosing to pretend I didn't care…I miss you, Esther." He said, crying.A knock at the door. He rushed to open it. It was Esther. He hugged her so tightly, never wanting to let her go for even a second."Please don't leave me again, Esther," he said."Smith! I'm not Esther!" The voice sounded like Chloe's.Immediately, he realised it was his imagination and pulled away from her."Chloe. What are you doing here?" he asked."I'm here because I was told you haven't been to the office for days, so I decided to come see you." "Why are you killing yourself with drinks? Stop it
"Hello, beauty." A voice called out from behind.Esther froze. It was past 9pm. She became scared and started shaking. She turned immediately to see who it was. There were four huge men smiling in a dangerous way. The moment she noticed them, she took a step back, turned on her heels and ran. They followed her until she was caught. She screamed for help but no one could hear her — it was a lonely street."Let go of me!" The leader of the gang immediately pressed a handkerchief to her nose, which made her suffocate and pass out immediately. They finally arrived at an old house where they tied her to a chair and left her there until the mysterious person arrived. The leader of the gang took his phone and dialed a number."We've got her." "Okay," the mysterious person said. The phone hung up.The mastermind of the whole plan arrived, and it was no other person but…Chloe."Boss," they said."Remove the gag and sprinkle some water on her face to wake her up," she instructed. They did as
Esther couldn't stop remembering the office. The raw look of possession in his eyes and the way he looked at her, telling her she looked beautiful. She shook her head hard, forcing the memory away, but couldn't. Instead, she gave a warm smile.A knock at Miss Parker's house. She opened the door and saw the same men in black again. This time, she wanted to run, but she was caught immediately and carried away in a black van. The door was closed and her phone fell on the ground. The black van arrived at the penthouse. They took Miss Parker out, her mouth gagged and her hands tied together. They went straight to Pears Wolf, who was facing the wall in the sitting room, smoking."Boss, we have her here," Alex said.Pears turned to them, the smoke filling the sitting room, and Miss Parker coughed. The moment she raised her face, she was shocked to see him."Take off the gag," He ordered."Sir?" She said."Are you surprised, Elizabeth?" He asked."After 25 years. Long time no see," he said a
The phone rang out. It was mom. Esther immediately wanted to pick up, but her phone went off. "Shit!" "Hope mom is okay."Meanwhile, at home, Miss Parker was still disturbed."Hi, Miss Linda," Esther said."Good morning, Esther. The boss is calling for you," Linda said.In Esther's mind, she wondered why the boss would come in so early and also request to see her. "I'm done for," Esther said, opening the elevator. The elevator opened. She came out, fixed her dark hair properly and straightened her yellow gown. Then she opened the door and entered."Good morning, Sir," she greeted.Smith was standing by the window, looking out at the view below — cars passing on the road, people walking, the traffic light changing. "Good morning," he responded and turned to her and said. "You're late.""Why?" "Hm…Sir, apologies, Sir. It won't happen again.""You're sorry?" He said, moving closer to her. Noticing his move, she stepped back slowly without looking at him.Esther had always admired
Esther was walking home from work when she noticed a black G-Wagon following her. She stopped to see if the car would stop too, but it didn't. Instead, it drove past her. She started moving again, not knowing the car had parked somewhere ahead, waiting for her to pass so they could follow her. She arrived home, not knowing the car had followed her straight to her house. When she noticed them, they drove away. She opened the door."Hi, Mom. How are you doing?""I'm good, and you?" Miss Parker asked, sitting in the chair in the dim, worn-out living room."Good," she said, a bit troubled."Are you okay, Esther?" Miss Parker asked."No, Mom, I'm not. I noticed a black car following me while coming home. It was so suspicious," She said.Miss Parker was terrified when she heard that, her heart pounding. They are here for her…they've found her. She said in her mind, terrified."Mom,” Esther called out when she saw Miss Parker lost in thought. "Are you okay?" She asked."Yes, I am," Miss Par
