When Liam and I walked back into the house after the proposal, he was still giddy like a teenager. He hadn’t let go of my hand once during the drive home, lifting it every so often to press a kiss against my knuckles, grinning so wide it was impossible not to smile back.

The moment we stepped into the living room, Sophia was waiting.

“She said yes!” Liam announced, practically bursting.

Sophia arched a brow, unimpressed. “What were you expecting? That she’d say no? You’ve got living proof of your love drooling in the nursery.”

I laughed, dropping onto the couch beside her and flashing my ring like a lovesick fool. “Still, it feels surreal.”

Her eyes softened as she leaned in to study the ring.

“It’s beautiful. I’m glad you love it.”

Meanwhile, Liam had already disappeared down the hall. Big Sophia still had the baby monitor resting on the couch beside her, and through it came the soft murmur of his voice from the nursery.

“Guess what, sweetheart,” he whispered, boyish excitement threa

When Sophia and I returned to the suite, the girls were still buzzing from music and wine. Lisa was already there, settled in as if she’d been present the entire time. The moment she caught sight of us, her lips curved slyly. “And where exactly are you two coming from?”The way she asked it, you’d think she’d been sitting there the whole time, not sneaking back in like us. Sophia and I exchanged a glance and broke into laughter.Lisa narrowed her eyes. “What’s so funny?”“Nothing,” I said, grinning. “Just that we actually went looking for you when we noticed you were gone.” I tilted my head. “So, where were you, Lisa?”A flush crept into her cheeks. “I stepped out to take a call. And then… well, I ended up admiring the hotel. It’s gorgeous.”Sophia smirked, her voice playful. “Yes, it is. My father did a thing here. But Lisa, why do I feel like you’re hiding something?”“What? No! I told you the truth,” she blurted, her defenses snapping up.I leaned in, my tone teasing. “Are you sure

I woke up to the sense of someone standing over me at the edge of the bed.“Liam?” I mumbled, my eyes still shut. “Why are you hovering like a creep?”A familiar laugh answered. My eyes flew open.“Lisa?”I blinked, shut them again, then peeked, convinced I was dreaming. She was still there. By the third time, I gave up and screamed, throwing myself at her.She yelped as I hugged her tight. “You’re not dreaming, Emily.”I pulled back, still breathless. “How? You weren’t supposed to be back from camp for weeks!”“Please,” she said, flicking her hair. “Like I’d miss my best friend’s wedding. I told them I had a very important excuse. And I do.”“Thank goodness.” I grinned. “You’re coming with me for fittings today.”Lisa laughed, eyeing me dramatically. “I hope you picked a color that makes me pop.”“You’ve been gone too long to vote. You’ll wear what we chose.”She groaned, and I smacked her arm. Before she could fire back, a soft whimper floated from the baby monitor. We glanced at ea

Liam had begun a new ritual. Time set aside just for us. No matter how hectic the week grew, how many hours he stole away to stare at Sophia’s sleeping face, he always made sure I knew our relationship came first too.“Parenthood doesn’t erase us, Em,” he told me one evening, brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. “I never want you to feel I’ve given all of myself away.”So whenever it was our time, my mom, Laura, or Big Sophia would take over baby duty, practically fighting for turns. Liam, meanwhile, kept his weekends sacred. No calls. No meetings. No interruptions. On one of our nights reserved just for us, I dragged him into the theater room and queued up a cheesy rom-com, waiting for the inevitable groan. Liam loved to mock them, and I loved watching him try not to laugh at the clichés.Halfway through, his phone vibrated. He muttered something, excused himself, and went out.At first, I waited. But when ten minutes became fifteen, I left the dim theater and walked into the

Kelvin didn’t come. Not that day, not the next. And deep down, I knew why. I might have forgiven him, but Liam hadn’t. Kelvin wasn’t foolish enough to walk into a house where forgiveness hadn’t yet been extended both ways. That night, before Liam could sneak into Sophia’s room the way he had done every evening since she was born, I brought it up.“Liam,” I said quietly, sitting up in bed. “What are you planning to do about Kelvin?”He went still, then turned, his gaze dark and impossible to read in the dim light. “You’ll see when I’m done with him.”I sighed and shifted, mirroring his posture as I reached for his hand. “Can you forgive him?”His jaw tensed. “It won’t be easy.”“I’m not asking you to force it,” I said softly. “Only to consider it. I’ve already forgiven him, Liam. I even invited him over.”His head snapped toward me, shock flickering in his eyes. Silence lingered before he finally asked, “How can you forgive him that easily after what he did?”I smiled faintly. “Because

After two nights in the hospital, we were cleared to go home. Liam had arranged everything so our departure would remain private. He was determined that the world would meet our daughter on our terms, not theirs. The drive was quiet, filled with the soft sound of Sophia breathing in her carrier. My fingers brushed the edge of the blanket covering her, as if I needed to keep reminding myself she was real and not some dream I might wake from.At the estate gates, I caught sight of a massive banner stretched across the entrance: Welcome Home, Baby Sophia. My eyes flicked to Liam, who was already smiling.“You did this?” I whispered. His lips curved, pride unmistakable in his eyes. “Of course.”A smile surfaced on my face, born of pure instinct. Inside, the house had been transformed. Balloons floated overhead, ribbons curved along the staircase, and fresh flowers filled every corner with color. The house felt alive with celebration, every detail speaking of Liam’s hand in it.“How?” I as
