The same black car. Just a longer version parked in front of my home.
It was already gaining attention.
I was very irritated at this point, cause I had finally managed to forget that incident with the weird lady.
Every fancy black car seemed suspicious to me ever since that day .
“ Bye mom, bye Stan” I said as I rushed out for my 8am shift
I ignored the car and walked quickly on my way to the bus stop.
The car drove quietly and slowly at my side.
I pretended to not notice but it was irritating.
With a huff and annoyance I waited for the bus while the car parked close to the bus stop.
Stepping into the bus , I greeted the driver and paid quickly to grab a seat at the back but all were occupied so I sat closer to the door and put on my headset.
The black car drove at the side of the bus, close enough for me to notice it.
Whosoever the driver was , he or she was a creep. I thought to myself.
I ignored the car once again and closed my eyes , focusing on the music.
The honk of the car startled me as I looked at the car from the window with annoyance.
The window slowly went down, surprisingly it was not the window at the driver’s seat. It was the one behind .
His eyes were the first thing I noticed.
How could I forget those eyes, that always seemed to read through me.
I gasped in recognition while a blush crept onto my face as he looked at me with a glint in his eyes.
I quickly turned ,looking for anything in my front to focus on.
His stare was still felt by me even through the glass.
I refused to look at the car again as my heart raced.
I didn’t even understand why my body reacted that way in his presence .
The bus ride all of a sudden seemed slow.
Finally arriving at my destination. I hurriedly alighted and rushed into the shop.
It was a matter of time , before the familiar figure stood at my front.
We stared for a while before his lips moved.
“Black” I heard
“Huh?” I questioned in confusion
“ I’ll need my coffee, black” he stated
“Oh” I responded , surprised at his statement as he quirked a brow at my response
“Um… would you like anything else?” I asked professionally as I realized we were in a bakery shop.
Of course , ordering a coffee was perfectly normal.
“ A vanilla cake will be okay “ he replied as he went to take a seat at the edge of the shop.
The seat was a perfect watch stand for him to continue staring at me.
His gaze made me self conscious, I transferred his order to a colleague.
I was simply trying to avoid any dialogue with him.
I continued my work normally, taking glances at him eating.
He was reading a magazine which was earlier brought in by a middle aged man in suit.
He looked very handsome as he read and subtly munched on his cake.
I blushed at the flash back of his mouth on mine as a smile crept onto my face.
I noticed he had stopped eating and continued his staring.
“ You took the man’s order?” Pete, my colleague asked me
“ Yh, why?” I asked
“ He wants to receive the bill from you” he stated as he walked into the bakery.
I took the bill from the cashier and walked to him as calmly as I could.
I handed it to him on reaching there , he received it ,without glancing at it ,retrieved a hundred dollar bill and placed it on the table.
I looked at him with a frown.
He took the bill and the note and stretched it towards me.
“ Your bill is thirty dollars” I stated in confusion
“ Here. Keep the change “ he said as he picked his magazine and stood.
“ The difference is much . I can’t accept this” I stated . I could accept it but coming from him, Something was definitely off.
“ Yes you can but if you insist, you can take ten dollars as your tip and assume the rest as yours for that night” he stated coldly
“ That night “ I whispered.
In realization, I frowned in annoyance.
“Excuse me?”
“ You’re excused, you can thank the baker, the cake was delicious “ he responded as he walked out
while i stared in disbelief and annoyance. I felt insulted .
I angrily walked back to my post and tried to calm myself down.
If all he wanted to do was to insult me , he definitely did not have to follow me from my home to the shop for such pettiness. I thought to myself as I took orders from customers.
My mood was sour till my shift ended in the evening.
All I wanted to do was sleep and not think about anything especially a man.
I had other priorities.
Packed my bags and some leftover pastries that was given to me and headed home.
“ Get in” a voice said as I turned to meet his eyes. Leonard. I ignored him and continued walking
“ Get in Sophia, or should I say Queen?” He asked as I froze in my steps
“ How did you find out?” I asked
“ Same way I found your home and your work place “ he stated
“ How is that?” I questioned
“ It’s me. I can find anything I search for” he arrogantly said
“Shiva Global” I stated
“So you did meet Natasha.” He stated
“My PA”he continued as I gave no reply
“ Just get in”he said with a sigh
“ After what you pulled at the shop. No thank you“ I stated as I continued walking .
“ If you don’t, I’ll do worse tomorrow “ he stated as I looked at him in shock.
Deep down I knew he was dead serious and I could do nothing about it.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked Brian.“I told you. I want you back in my life” he answered.“I am pregnant for heaven’s sakes!” I exclaimed in frustration.“I don’t care. You can get rid of his child” he stated indifferently as I fumed with anger.“It’s not his…and you cheated on me” I reminded him.“I apologized” he said holding my hands.“And I told you, I didn’t give a damn and I still don’t” I told him as I snatched my hand away from his grip."How could you, Brian?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady.Brian looked at me with a mixture of guilt and defiance. "I did it for us, Sophia. I wanted us to be together again."I laughed, a bitter taste in my mouth. "You think betraying Leo and putting me in danger would make me want to be with you again?"Brian's face fell, and for a moment, I saw the man I used to love. "I was desperate, Sophia. I didn't know what else to do."I shook my head, feeling a pang of sadness. "You should have just talked to me, Brian. We could have w
“No…this can’t be possible” Stan said as he ran his hand through his hair.“But it is, Stan” I assured.“No!” He exclaimed in disbelief.“Stan…”“She’s not like that, sis” he continued.“It’s real.”I said to him.“This is Emily we are talking about." He stated as I frowned at his behavior.“She’s not coming back” I plainly stated as his eyes widened in surprise.“No, don't say that" He muttered.“Stan!” Angela snapped.“You don’t know her like I do…none of you do” Stan said as his eyes pooled with tears.“Maybe just reason, it seems true” Angela persuaded as he shook his head in disagreement.“If it wasn’t, why wouldn’t she pick your calls?” I asked him.“She’s probably in danger or something.” He responded“She’s not” Angela states.“Then something must have happened to her phone."He answered persistently.“We both know you don’t believe that” I said as my smile turned upside down.“I love her” He blurted out.“I know, Stan” I said as I held his hands.“There are other girls in the w
"Leo, I'm sorry," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I just...I need some space, okay?"“So you’re not going to help me out?” He asked as I sighed heavily.“I can’t “ I replied.Leo nodded, his eyes still filled with hurt. "Okay, Sophia. I'll give you space then. But please, don't shut me out completely. I need to know what's going on with you."“It’s bigger than both of us.” I told him as he shook his head in disagreement.“It doesn’t matter, I need to know”“Leonard…”“Tell me, I can handle it” he demanded.“I am sorry, I can’t” I said as I packed my lunch and stood.“Sophia~”“Just let me go, I’ll be fine”I cut him off before leaving the restaurant opposite the company’s parking lot.As I walked away from Leo, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. I had bought myself some time, some space to figure out what to do next. But as I looked down at my stomach, I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. I was pregnant, and I had no idea what to do.I thought abou
She seems familiar, I thought to myself as Stan and Emily laughed and ate together.I just couldn’t remember where I saw her.I focused on my study as I sat in the living room, with my laptop.I found myself growing more and more uneasy around Emily. She seemed nice enough, but there was something about her that didn't add up.And then, one day, I stumbled upon a shocking discovery.I was browsing through her social media profiles when I came across a post that made my blood run cold.It was a post from Emily's 20th birthday, the occasion looked fancy and glamorous. But what really caught my attention was the fact that Maria stood in the group picture with Tiffany at her side.I felt a wave of fear wash over me. What had Stan gotten himself into? This could only mean, Maria was planning something behind the scene.I knew I had to confront Stan, to warn him about Emily’s true nature. But as I approached him, I realized that he was too far gone. He looked so in love with her."Stan, can
Stay away from me!” I snapped at Natasha as I hurried down the vegetable aisle in the grocery store.“It’s important. He needs to see you” she said stubbornly, as she followed me once more, around the store.“Well, send my message across” I said“You look different”she observed as she scrutinized my form.“Are you done here?”I asked with annoyance written all over my face.“Hey!, watch out” Natasha exclaimed as the young boy crashed into my trolley. I unconsciously held my stomach in fright and that brought Natasha’s focus downward.I swiftly removed my hand and place it back on the aisle.“I’m so sorry” the mother of the boy said to me as I chuckled.“It’s okay”“So sorry” she said again.“It’s fine” I assured once more as she nodded.“Apologize, Stefan” she spoke calmly to her son as he feigned ignorance.“I just wanted to pet the dog” he said as his mother rolled her eyes.“Just apologize” she stated in exasperation.“But she said it’s fine”“Now!” She ordered him angrily as he fro
As the days passed, I struggled with the decision. I felt like I was being torn in two, like my heart and my head were at war.But as I thought about it more, I realized that I knew what I had to do. I couldn't keep the baby, not now. I was too young, too inexperienced.Jayden had told me he would be there for me, regardless of any choice I make.I made the difficult decision to hide the news from Leo, at least for now. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I felt like it was the best decision for me.As I finalized my decision, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I felt like I had made the right choice.I threw myself into my schoolwork, using it as a distraction from the turmoil that was still brewing inside me. I focused on my classes, on my studies, and slowly but surely, I began to feel like myself again.I distanced myself from Leo, using the excuse that I needed to focus on my schoolwork. He seemed to understand, but I could tell he was getting susp
“I’m going for my lectures” Stan said as he peeked into my room.“Alright, stay safe” I said as I snuggled into my blanket. He walked into the room and sat at the edge of the bed, with a heavy sigh he said to me, “I know, it’s been almost a month since mom died~"“Stan, I don’t wanna talk about it” I interrupted.“You have to. You have to Sophia” he stated stubbornly.“Stan~"“No. Even if it’s not to me, talk to Jayden or Paris or even Angela”“Why are you doing this now?” I asked him, annoyed at his behavior at such time of the morning.“I care about you, and I don’t want to lose you too”“Oh, Stan” I gently said as I felt a sense of guilt.“I’m scared okay, you have been sick for a week now”“I’ll be fine” I assured as I sat up.“Yeah, you will be” he said, “When you actually go for check up or something”“What are you scared of, for gods sake!” I exclaimed as he stood abruptly.“Cancer!” He angrily answered.“What if you have what mom had?” He asked me“I don’t”“You don’t know tha
I sat in the funeral home, surrounded by the somber faces of the funeral directors and the sterile smell of flowers. Stan sat beside me, his eyes red-rimmed from lack of sleep. We were planning our mother's funeral. It felt surreal, like I was living in a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from. Just a few days ago, I was sitting in the hospital, holding my mother's hand and praying for a miracle. Now, I was planning her funeral.Stan and I, both decided not to waste time to put her to rest.Angela recommended the services of these people. She invited us to stay at her home till whenever. The funeral director, a kind-faced woman with a gentle smile, handed me a catalog of caskets. "We have a variety of options to choose from," she said."Which one do you think your mother would have liked?"I felt a lump form in my throat as I flipped through the pages. My mother had always been a simple woman, with simple tastes. She wouldn't have wanted anything fancy or extravagant.“Maybe the expen
The ceremony was beautiful, but I couldn't help feeling a pang of sadness as I watched Leo and Allicent walk down the aisle.I recognized Tiffany, Maria, Jared and Natasha, but Anthony was nowhere to be found. It was hard to believe that the man I had loved for so long was now promising to love and cherish another woman. The vows exchanged moved the audience but it felt like an insult to me.I was supposed to be the one there. Not she.I preferred it to have been anyone else, but she.Leonard deserved better. He deserved me.We deserved each other.Regardless of whatever anyone else thought.I felt Jayden squeeze my hand gently and that’s when I noticed my fists were clenched.I was hurt and angry.I shouldn’t have come.As the minister asked if anyone objected to the union, I felt a surge of emotion. I wanted to stand up and shout, to tell everyone that Leo was making a mistake. But I didn't.Instead, I sat quietly, trying to hold back tears. But as Leo and Allicent prepared to seal
