LOGINI veered Ice off the road into the forest. I was going to take another path since the previous one had been blocked.
I rode wildly and rough—branches lashed my face and tore at my clothes. "Hang on, girl... just a little more," I whispered to my bike. Then, a loud howl filled the night. It was from the head guard Maxwell, and it was damn filled with bloodlust. My body trembled at the sound. "That's the howl of war," I muttered bitterly. "They want me dead now." It seems they were done playing and having fun. Now that I was getting away, they were making the last chase to end my life. These weren't just guards following orders. I recognized the three of them in their wolf forms. Marcus—he'd taught me to ride Ice. Daniel—he used to sneak me extra dessert when I was a kid. Peter—he'd called me "little alpha" and ruffled my hair just last week. And now they were hunting me like an animal. How long had they hated me? Had any of it been real? I pressed harder, leaning into Ice, becoming one with the machine. "Father may think I'm weak... but I'll prove them wrong!" Death will not have me tonight!!!!! Tears blurred my sight. A wolf lunged from the side, missed, and smashed headfirst into a tree. The crack of impact echoed through the forest. "Serves you right!" I shouted back, a wild edge to my voice. But then I saw it. The other side of the cliff I was looking for. My heart dropped into my stomach. "No, no, no... it's too far. I can't make it." Ice skidded on the rocky path. Pebbles scattered over the edge, and I heard them fall... and fall... and fall... before splashing into water far, far below. The wolves were closing in. I could hear their panting, smell their bloodlust mixing with my own blood. Twenty feet to the edge. Fifteen. Ten. I had hesitated the last time, and it had cost me terribly. I looked at the cliff, at the dark water below, and then back at the wolves behind me—their jaws snapping, their eyes hungry as they closed in on me. "Ice," I whispered, "if this is the end... thank you for the ride." I smiled—actually smiled—for the first time since the altar. "Fuck it." The grin on my face was half-mad, half-defiant. "Let's see if you bastards will follow me on my suicide attempt." I twisted the throttle all the way and flew. For one perfect, terrible second, I was airborne. The wind screamed in my ears. The wolves' howls faded behind me. Ice's engine roared beneath me like a heartbeat. I felt... free. Then I hit the hard surface of the water that rushed up to meet me. I barely had time to suck in a breath before impact. The water hit like concrete. Every bone in my body rattled. The cold was instant and absolute, stealing what little air I had left. It felt like being punched by a giant fist made of ice. Ice—my bike—was torn from my grip by the current. I watched her headlight spiral down into the darkness, my only companion disappearing into the deep. "No!" I tried to scream, but water filled my mouth. The current seized me and dragged me under. My lungs burned. My vision went dark at the edges. Swim. I had to swim. But which way was up? My hand hit something solid—a rock. I used it to push and kicked with legs that barely responded. My jacket was pulling me down, but I couldn't get it off. My fingers were too numb, too clumsy. I'm going to die here, I thought distantly. After everything, I'm going to drown. No. The thought came sharp and fierce, cutting through the panic like a blade. NO. It wasn't my voice. It was... something else. Something inside me that refused to quit. Something that felt like... teeth and claws and fury. Just what the hell was this feeling? Inside me, I was bursting with rage, and that rage gave me the strength I was desperately searching for. But I just knew this wasn't coming from me. It wasn't me. So just what the hell was it... wait, unless it's what I'm thinking of. Bloody hell!!! It can't be.His hands didn’t stay idle. While we kissed, they slid from my waist up my sides. His thumbs brushed the top of my cleavage, and a sharp wave of pleasure shot through me, vibrating through my entire body.He unhooked my bra with practiced ease — one smooth swipe and my breasts were free. The cool air touched my skin for only a second before his warm hands replaced it. He cupped them firmly, squeezing softly while his thumbs circled my nipples, then pinched them lightly until they hardened under his touch.Ahhhhh..A soft sound escaped my lips.“Ohh…I think I just found your weak spot,” he murmured against my skin.I wasn’t about to let him torture me alone. I slid my hands down his chest, feeling every hard ridge of muscle. His skin was smooth for an Alpha who had fought for ages — no scars, not even from the dagger that had been in him. The only marks were the tattoos that stretched across his chest and arms, making him look even more dangerous and manly. As he continued cupping and
APRIL’S POVAiden sat me down beside the bed, but he didn’t let me go. His hands remained firmly on my waist, squeezing gently as his eyes stayed fixed on mine. I could see the heat and desire burning in them, and it took everything in me not to look away and blush. So the mighty Alpha was a lover boy? Who would have thought.I reached for the hem of my top, preparing to pull it over my head, but Aiden clearly had no intention of waiting. With a small movement of his fingers his claws came out and he used it to rip my clothes apart, the fabric tearing down the middle until it was ruined.I stared at him before slowly raising my eyes to his face.“Someone’s impatient,” I teased, biting my lip.His gaze dropped to my exposed skin, and I could have sworn I saw his jaw tighten. It was as if his eyes were trying to shoot lasers at me but this time it was glowing as he locked eyes on my huge boobs being held by my bra.“Wow…so beautiful” He whispered in a way that I almost laughed. What was
APRIL’S POV“Let me explain.”Aiden’s voice was steady, but his eyes stayed locked on mine.“The Bone Dagger won’t kill me the way you think. It doesn’t work like the silver dagger I used on Raiden. Instead of ending me, it forces me into a deep slumber… one that is excruciatingly painful. Every second feels like the dagger is still tearing through me. Only a powerful witch who performs a huge sacrifice is strong enough to pull it out safely.”I stared at him.“Moreover, April… I’m a Hybrid. I cannot be killed.”“What? Are you for real?”“No.” He shook his head slightly. “I can be killed, but only with very few weapons. I happen to possess the one that can kill an Original Vampire. And I plan on using it to kill Raiden when we meet.”My chest tightened again.“So because you are hard to kill now, that gives you the right to be careless with your life?”My words made him speechless for a moment. He looked down, then back up at me with a faint, almost childish frown.“What… you saw ever
“You always fucking act as though you have to carry everything yourself. You make decisions, hide things from me, and then expect me to accept them because you believe you’re protecting me.”I shook my head.“Look, I’m not a little girl anymore. I need everyone to stop making decisions for me under the excuse of protecting me. I’m your mate, Aiden, and I deserve to know what’s happening just as much as everyone else who cares about you.”I gestured impatiently.“You have Finn, Hale, Ryan, and even the crazy-ass Felicity, along with Nathan and Zyla, to help you. Mirabel is also there, Melissa is there, and you have the whole fucking pack standing by your side. So why do you keep acting like you’re the only person capable of handling everything?”I stared at him, waiting for an answer.“Why are you like this?”Aiden remained silent.I could see the tension in his jaw as he watched me, and for a moment, I wondered whether I had said too much. Then he reached for my hand. His fingers were
APRIL’S POV“Aiden, do not start.”“Start what?”“What exactly is going through your mind? I know that look and what you are trying to say. It’s like you’re expecting me to thank you for introducing me to your crazy family, who almost got me killed, after one of them pretty much beat the shit out of me, only for me to find out it was a plot twist all along.”I fired at him, and he didn’t reply immediately.Instead, he walked over to where Hale had left the glass cup, picked it up, poured himself a drink, and took a sip.“On the contrary, I really wouldn’t mind a thank you.”“Ha! You must be insane. After everything you’ve put me through? Dinner, Aiden. Dinner! That was what you fucking told me!”His face remained annoyingly calm.I pointed at him.“I didn’t even get the chance to eat the so-called dinner you told me about. Don’t let me even start, Aiden.”“No, no, go on.” He took another sip of his drink. “It sounds like you have a lot on your chest that you need to let out.”“You kno
“We are aware that a war has been brewing and Howard Quinn’s daughter happened to end up in our hands doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me. I can only assume that someone planned it.” He paused, glancing at Aiden. “And also Raiden was able to get into our pack and compel one of our members to stab you proves that he’s already toying with us. He knows where we are, and he knows how to get to us.” Aiden’s expression hardened. “Then there’s the situation with Joshua. I’ve been wondering how the Black Shadow Pack managed to get a vampire powerful enough to compel him. Now, everything is starting to make sense.” He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. “Raiden must be behind it. He’s the one pulling the strings, and we’ve been wasting time trying to figure out who’s responsible.” A heavy silence settled over the room. “So, what do we do now?” someone asked. “We prepare,” Aiden answered firmly. “That’s why I called everyone here. We need to figure out how we’re going t
