Tristan

Flashback

"Here you are, Tristan. Your sister’s looking all over the place for you. She might be coming up here soon."

I turned my head slightly, still holding the guy’s collar in my fist as I glared at him like I was ready to break something, maybe his face, maybe my own self-control.

Hudson had just arrived at the rooftop.

I let the guy go, finally, shoving him back so hard he stumbled and landed on the dirty floor.

“Shit,” I muttered under my breath, more to myself than anything.

But before the idiot could crawl away, I leaned in one last time and growled low, “Don’t ever show your face in front of my sister again. You breathe so much next to her and I’ll make sure you forget your own damn name.”

He didn’t wait for a second warning. He got up clumsily and started half-running, half-tripping his way across the rooftop and down the stairs like he’d just seen the devil.

Which, maybe he had.

Hudson just stood there, arms crossed, watching the whole thing unfold like it was so

LioraI stayed in that same position until my back started to ache. My body was too stiff, like it forgot how to rest. So I shifted slightly, sinking slowly into the mattress and turning on my side. Then onto my back. Then I stared at the ceiling. But no, here I was. Alive. Trapped in a room that wasn’t mine, that I don't want to be. I tried to breathe slowly. Pretend like the world didn’t feel so heavy. But my eyelids wouldn’t stay closed. Sleep refused to come.So I just laid there, quiet and still, my body humming with exhaustion I couldn’t seem to cash in on. However, My phone buzzed somewhere on the bed. I didn’t move at first. Just let it ring once… twice… five times before it stopped ringing, maybe the person finally got the message that I don't feel like talking to anyone right now.But a few seconds later, it started buzzing again, insistent, like whoever it was didn’t plan to stop.People are just too stubborn. With a small sigh, I finally reached over and picked it up. Not when I said the truth out loud that Caleb now hated me too.He just stood there, frozen. That same solemn look on his face. Like a statue made of guilt.Wasn’t this what he wanted? It’s kind of... funny, in the worst possible way.How he suddenly wanted to act like some savior after everything. After ruining everything. After turning Caleb’s eyes cold and unfamiliar.Florence’s hate was expected. Her anger, normal. But Caleb?That... That was too much.Even in the car with him, I didn’t cry. Not a single tear. It was like something had shut down inside me, like my soul had quietly slipped out while I wasn’t paying attention. I couldn’t name what was wrong. I just... d

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    The only reason

Tristan “Liora.”My voice came out quieter than I meant, almost lost in the sound of the water. She didn’t move.Didn’t even flinch. It was like she couldn’t hear me.I stepped in fully, not caring that my shoes were getting soaked, that water had pooled over the tiles. I reached for her carefully, like approaching a wounded animal.“Hey---hey,” I said, trying again, more firmly. “Liora.”Her eyes moved slowly to mine, unfocused at first. It took a second before recognition flickered across her face. And even then… it was faint. She blinked.Just once. Then looked down at her own hand. As if seeing the glass for the first time.I reached for her wrist. “Give it to me.”She didn't respond to me. “Liora,” I said again, gentler this time, stepping closer until I was under the spray with her. “Let go.”Still nothing. So I pried her fingers open myself, blood slick against my palm as I pulled the shard of glass free. I tossed it behind me and cupped her face. Her skin was cold.Colder th

Please prioritize your mental well-being and skip this chapter if you need to. You are not alone. 🖤Tistan POV Liora didn’t say a single word when she got into the car.No crying. No yelling. No fight left in her.Just quiet. That heavy, hollow kind. She wiped whatever was left on her face before stepping in, like she'd made a decision, maybe not to feel anymore, maybe just to hold everything in. I wasn’t sure. But her eyes…God.They were blank. Not in that careless, distracted way, but in that way people look when they’re doing everything they can not to fall apart.I turned my gaze away, jaw clenched. I couldn't look anymore. I shouldn't have looked in the first place. If I’d known it would end like this, I wouldn’t have followed her. Would’ve stayed out of it. Let her handle it her own way.But when I saw those animals grabbing her, dragging

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Something deeper

LioraMy heart wouldn’t stop pounding. I kept pacing back and forth like that would somehow make the doctors come out faster or magically make Florence okay, or not okay because to be honest, I didn’t even know which one I wanted anymore.I ran a hand through my hair again, tugging at the roots before glancing over at the hallway Caleb had disappeared into when we were told to step outside. I hadn’t seen him since. He hadn't said much either after she collapsed, even while rushing her in here unconscious.I clenched my jaw.It wasn't like I cared. But it wasn’t like I didn’t, either. Oh God I did. My heart was beating too hard for me not to care, in fact I'm afraid, so much afraid right now.And then there was Tristan.Sitting a few seats away, legs crossed, elbows on the armrests like he was lounging in a lounge instead of a hospital. His eyes were on the floor, or maybe nowhere at all. Silent. Unreadable.Of course he’d followed me here. Of course he’d brought the whole damn army w
