Chapter Forty Three

ALEXIA

I don’t know how long I’d been running. I think two nights passed before I got to the border of our pack. The joy that filled my soul was unexplainable.

But my legs gave out from fatigue. My body ached from running non-stop. The guards at the border quickly ran to me. My vision blurred, “ Gamma! One of the pack warriors just arrived at the border”someone shouted. Someone grabbed my hand, “ Hey what happened? Where are the others?” His voice was desperate.

I held his hand, “ Help…East…Luna…Trouble” I gasped out before it went completely dark.

PHOENIX

I was in my office doing some paperwork when my door flew open and one of the warriors barged in, “ What the hell?-“ “ One of the park members has returned, alpha!” He announced.

From the tone of his voice, something was off. My heart began to race as I rushed to the pack hospital.

Goddess, what happened to Clover? Please let her be okay. Please.

On getting to the hospital, I rushed to the ward. Landon was already there, sitting beside the unconscious girl’s bed with his head in his hands.

“ Landon…” I called. He lifted his head and stared off into space, “ What happened?” I asked. He shook his head, “ She fainted before she could tell me.” He told me. I grabbed another seat and sat down, “ Then why do you have that look on your face?” His eyes were glassy, as if he was about to cry.

Landon looked at me, “….I’m scared” he said. My heart squeezed. I wanted to tell that I was also scared, but if I did that, it would only make him fear more. It’s like a situation, were the stronger one in a group is also afraid and doesn’t know what to do. It’ll make the other members very scared.

I sighed, “ I’m sure they’re all fine. Remember that we still have a link with them, no matter how far they are….we’ll know when something bad happens to them. Especially our mates.” I said in attempt to console him….actually, the both of us.

Landon sighed and nodded, “ Yeah, you’re right. They’re fine”. Just then a doctor walked in and greeted us, “ What’s the situation? Is she alright?” I asked, “ She is. She just fainted from fatigue. It seems like she’d been on the move without rest.” He told us.

I looked back at the girl on the bed, “What about the scratches and bruises?” “ Those were likely caused by thorns and branches. She doesn’t seem to have been attacked” he said again. I sighed in relief.

“ When will she wake up?” Landon asked impatiently, “ For now she’s sleeping, so I’ll say in about six hours” he said. Landon scoffed, his aura grew cold, “ Isn’t that too long?” “ Landon…chill” I told him.

He sighed, “ I’m sorry.” “ It’s alright, gamma. I’ll be leaving now” the doctor bowed and left the room. I threw a glare at Landon, “ I apologized” he said calmly.

MILLICENT

It’s been two days since Alexia escaped. If my calculations are right, she should have reached the pack by now. I sighed and looked up at the sky from the well they put is in.

That day we tried to escape and got captured. They didn’t hit us or bully us. The guards just lowered us into the pit. I was surprised, but these people were not as violent as I thought.

In fact they are so care free that immediately they closed the pit, the five guards went to drink. I was both amazed and glad.

I silently prayed for Clover’s safety.

*******

CLOVER

My head was throbbing as is if someone was beating a drum in it. I winced and turned on my side, my eyes slowly opened.

The place I was in was dark, cold, and smelled moldy. I had de jà vu as the setting felt familiar. I sat up and leaned against the wall. The shackles around my wrists and ankles felt heavy and cold.

The clanking of chains somewhere on my right caught my attention. Danny was sitting beside me, his head was bowed as he played with the chains, “ You’re awake” he mumbled.

I blinked blankly, “ How long have I been out?” I asked “ Two days…I think” he answered and we fell into a deafening silence. I scoffed “ We’ll that was a bust”.

Danny glared at me, “ How can you laugh in a situation like this? We just found out that she’s dead!” He snapped. I lowered my eyes and smiled sadly, “ What’s the difference? We already thought so for the past six years?” I asked him.

He gritted his teeth and looked away, “….I never believed it” he said in a strained tone. I was surprised, “ You didn’t?” “ No…I always thought she was alive but…. I didn’t say it because I thought everyone would think I’m mad from depression” he said quietly.

I sat there quietly and looked at him. He must have been so lonely. A tear fell down my face, “…I’m sorry” I found myself saying. He scoffed, “ It’s too late for that” he said but I heard his voice break.

“ I know…. But It’s my fault. I’ll try to get us out of here, okay?” “ Whatever…” he mumbled and laid on the floor.

I sighed and stared at his back. ‘I will make it up to him no matter what’ I thought.

What are we going to do? My wolf asked.

I don’t know….I feel so tired….I responded.

I wish Phoenix would come here….she said and whimpered.

That’s right, the Titan pack isn’t really far from here. At least it’ll take us a day and half to reach there….only if we can escape from here….

Hey can’t you reach his wolf or something?!, I asked my wolf.

I don’t know….I can try but I don’t think it’ll work..

Just try…please….I begged her.

Alright! She said.

I started examining the chains, “ these will be so hard to escape from” I mumbled to myself. But I’ll still try.
