I had lived through twenty-one years of a terrible life already and If I could survive that hell, I could survive meeting the devil himself. I took a deep breath, trying to stop my heart from racing.
Outside our house, a rusty old van was waiting. It was there to take me to the King’s palace.
My parents didn't even say goodbye Instead, they acted like they couldn't wait to get rid of me. They hurried me out the door as if I were trash. They didn't care that this might be the last time they ever saw their daughter. To them, I was something disposable.
The van smelled horrible, like something had died inside it and was rotting away. There were five other girls with me. Some were crying, and others looked like they were about to faint from fear. I sat in the corner and stayed silent. I didn't want anyone to see how scared I really was, so I kept my face like stone.
I recognized some of them. They were Omegas from other packs nearby. Just like me, they had been thrown away by their own people and we were all being sent as a gift to the most powerful and scary Alpha of all, Zayn Blackthorn.
As we drove, I watched the trees go by through the dirty window. The further we went, the darker the sky became. It felt like the night was eating the sun. People said Alpha Zayn’s palace was a place where light never touched and I was beginning to think it was true.
It was hidden deep in the Dark Mountains. The stories said no one ever laughed there, and the building itself was cursed, just like the King.
The stories about his cruelty were enough to make your blood turn cold. I heard that once, he impaled every man in a village just because they didn't bring him the virgins he demanded.
I didn't know what was waiting for me behind those walls, but I made myself a promise, I was not going to die. I would find a way to stay alive.
When we finally arrived, the moon was high and bright. It casted a long creepy shadow over the tall, black stone towers of the castle. I stepped out of the van, and the cold air hit my face.
My breath caught in my throat. The rumors didn't even come close to the truth. This wasn't just a scary house, it looked like a fortress built by death itself.
Guards dressed in all black stood at the entrance. They looked at us like we were objects, not people. One guard walked up to me. His eyes were mean and cold.
"What is your name?" he barked.
"Ariana," I answered.
"Who is your father?"
"Derrick Whitestone. He is the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack," I said. My voice shook a little, but I stood tall and the guard looked shocked for a second.
"Usually, packs send us slaves or low-ranking Omega girls," he laughed, shaking his head.
"We’ve never had an Alpha’s daughter sent as a sacrifice before. Are you really a princess?"
"Not anymore," I said, my heart aching. My father had traded me away like I was nothing.
"Move!" the guard shouted, pushing us toward the gate. We were herded inside like a flock of sheep about to be slaughtered.
Inside, the palace was so quiet it felt heavy. You could hear a pin drop on the floor. The stone walls were freezing, and the hallways were long and thin. The air had a sharp, metallic smell. It smelled like blood. It smelled like death.
"We are all going to die!" one girl whispered, her whole body shaking. "I heard Alpha Zayn is a monster in the bedroom with a cock so big it Impales you when he thrusts it in, I heard it rips women apart. We won't survive the night."
"Don't listen to the stories, they are nothing but baseless rumours," another girl said, though her face was pale white.
"Quiet, you losers!" a loud voice boomed. A woman in a tight black dress stepped into the hall. She had a tag on her dress, Lady Jade.
"You are nothing but sacrifices for our great King," she said, walking back and forth in front of us. "You will stay silent. You will not speak unless he tells you to. And most importantly, you will never, ever look him in the eye."
She stopped and looked right at me. "When your name is called, you will go to his room. You will do whatever he wants without complaining. You should feel lucky. It is an honor to serve King Zayn."
An honor? I thought. How is it an honor to be ripped apart from your insides by a monster?
"No matter how much you scream, no one will help you," she said coldly. "You will let him satisfy his hunger until your body stops moving."
The girls around me started to cry quietly. I felt my own courage start to break.
The girl next to me sobbed, and the woman turned on her. "Don't bother begging for mercy. Alpha Zayn doesn't know what that word means."
She looked at all of us again. "The guards will take you to your rooms now. But one of you is going to see the King tonight."
Everyone held their breath. The only sound was the fast thumping of hearts. We were all terrified of being the first one picked for the feast.
The woman circled us like a wolf. Then, her eyes locked into mine.
I didn't look away. I didn't blink. If I was going to face a monster, I would do it with my head held high.
A mean smile grew on her face. She pointed her finger directly at me.
"Take this one first," she commanded. "She will be Alpha Zayn’s meal for tonight."
The darkness was the first thing I felt. It wasn't the soft darkness of sleep, but a heavy, wet darkness that smelled like old coins and rot. I tried to move, but my limbs felt like they were made of stone. When I finally opened my eyes, I couldn't see anything. I reached out my hand and felt cold, slimy rock. I wasn't on the soft bed anymore. I wasn't wearing the silk gown or Ezekiel’s warm fur coat. I was lying on a floor made of dirt and jagged stones. I was completely naked. The air was so cold that my breath came out in small white clouds, but I didn't have anything to cover myself with. I curled into a tiny ball, trying to use my own skin to keep me warm, but it was no use. The dungeon was a freezer. As I lay there shivering, I remembered what happened. I remembered the way Zayn had pinned me down. I remembered the cruelty in his eyes and the way he treated me like a toy. And then, I remembered the light. What was that? I wondered. I had never shifted. My father ha
Zayn’s grip on my arm was like an iron shackle. He didn't walk, he marched dragging me through the cold stone hallways of the palace. Every step I took felt like I was walking toward my own execution. He didn't speak a word of comfort. He didn't ask if my ribs were still hurting from my father's boot, or if I still felt the sting of his hands squeezing the breath out of me. To him, I was just a vessel, a gold or silver cup he was ready to fill. "Please," I whispered, my voice trembling as we reached the heavy oak doors of his bedroom. "I am tired. I am hurt. Can we just... wait?" Zayn stopped and looked down at me. His face was like a mask carved from ice. "Wait for what? The moon to change? The world to end? I have waited years for the curse to break, Snow White. I am a King without a prince and that ends tonight." He said kicking the doors open. The room was massive, but it felt like a cage. A fire crackled in the hearth, throwing long, dancing shadows against the walls
The air in the room didn't just feel cold anymore, it felt like it was made of lead. I wrapped Ezekiel’s fur coat around me, trading the metallic stench of Zayn’s rage for the scent of sandalwood and rose. My family was at the gate. They weren’t here because they missed me as I hoped, they weren’t here because they had spent a sleepless night crying over the daughter they threw to the wolves. They were here to get paid. What did I do to deserve this level of hate and suffering? Zayn turned his head slowly toward Roman. His eyes, narrowed. "A reward?" he repeated, the word sounding like a curse. "They threw her into my bed expecting a corpse, and now that she’s breathing, they want a prize?" "They claim that since Ariana is the chosen one who survived and that the pack deserves a tribute," Roman explained, his eyes fixed on the floor. "The Alpha, her father is insisting on an audience. He says he also has valuable information about her white hair and why she hasn't shifted."
"Mate."That single word was the last thing I heard before I fell into a deep, dark sleep. When I finally started to wake up, the first thing I felt was the biting cold. My skin felt wet and slippery, and the air was thick with the scent of expensive soap and old stone.Slowly, my eyelashes fluttered open. Three women were standing over me. I recognized them immediately, they were the Omegas who had been sent along with me as sacrifices for Alpha Zayn last night."Oh, look! She’s finally awake!" one of them chirped. She was wearing a thin, white silk gown that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. The others wore the same, but unlike me, each of them had a heavy black collar locked around their neck.As my vision cleared, the horror set in. I was naked, sitting in a massive marble bathtub, being scrubbed like a piece of furniture by these women."What... what happened?" I tried to speak, but my voice was a raspy whisper. A sharp, stinging pain throbbed in the crook of my neck,
Ariana's povUp close, he didn’t look like the monster everyone whispered about. They called him a devil, but looking at him was like staring at a beautiful, fallen angel. I couldn’t help but notice how his hair, dark and shiny like polished obsidian tumbled over his shoulders. But when those piercing red eyes locked into mine, reality rushed back. I quickly looked down, my heart hammering against my ribs."What is your name?" his voice rumbled.I stayed silent, frozen."What? Are you unable to speak?" he asked, his tone sharpening. I kept my eyes glued to the floor, remembering Lady Jade’s terrifying warning to Never look him in the eye."Forgive me, Alpha," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I am Ariana."Suddenly, I felt something cold touch my face. It was his hand, grazing my cheek. I jerked back in shock, the coldness of his skin sending a shiver down my spine."You will address me as King," he corrected me, his voice like velvet over ice. "Do you understand?""Yes... my King,"
Zayn's povEvery woman who stepped through those heavy oak doors knew she was walking toward her grave, Yet, they never stopped coming. Some were dragged here as sacrifices, while others came willingly, foolishly hoping to win the favor of a monster. This was my life. This was my curse. It had earned me a name that whispered fear into the hearts of men: The Cursed prince of Darkness.I didn’t choose this darkness, I inherited it. Before I was even born, my father, the Alpha before me, had turned our world into a slaughterhouse. He brutally killed thousands, enslaved children, and treated women like whores. He was a man of pure evil, and the Moon Goddess finally had enough. She cursed him, but I was the one who became the vessel for his punishment. Her curse was precise and cruel. I was born with unmatched power, but I was destined to be eternally alone. She hollowed out my soul so I could never feel love. She draped me in a darkness so thick that the sun seemed to dim wherever I am.
