Ariana's pov

Deep down, I think I always knew. I was hated and unloved, the mistake they had to live with. But even after years of cold glares and insults, I never imagined their cruelty could go this far.

I didn't think humans especially my own parents could be this heartless.

I stood in the center of the room, my head hanging low. I felt small, like a piece of trash someone was waiting to throw away. My parents and my sister, Caroline, stared at me, and all I saw in their eyes was a deep, chilling disgust.

"You should be grateful to us," my father’s voice boomed, shaking the air. "We are giving you a generous opportunity here."

Grateful? I thought. A single, hot tear slid down my cheek. Even the devil wouldn't call this a gift.

My heart felt like it was being squeezed as I muttered "Why? Why do you hate me so much? What did I ever do to you?"

Caroline stepped forward, a wicked, mocking grin stretching across her face.

"Oh, can you really blame us, Ariana? Look at you. You’re a disgrace. You’re over eighteen and you still haven't shifted into your wolf. Your hair is that freaky, ghostly white... the whole town thinks you’re a cursed witch. Do you have any idea how much you’ve dragged our prestigious family name through the dirt?"

I looked at my mother, hoping for a spark of pity but Instead, she just laughed.

"You’re sending me out to die," I whispered, my voice breaking into a sob. "He’s a monster. You’re sending me to a monster."

"Don't be so dramatic," my mother snapped, looking at me like I was a buzzing fly she wanted to swat. "Think of it as your redemption. You’ve brought us nothing but shame. We’ve become the laughingstock of the pack because of you. We are finally doing what is best for this family."

"And what about me?" I cried out, the pain finally boiling over. "Am I not part of this family? Don't I deserve a life too?"

The words were barely out of my mouth when a violent slap sent me spinning to the floor. My vision blurred and my cheek burned like fire. I looked up, trembling, to see my father looming over me, his face twisted in pure rage.

"Shut up, Ariana! You ungrateful wench!" he roared. The very walls of our home seemed to tremble. "Do you have any idea how many times I thought about just killing you myself? You should be on your knees thanking me for keeping you alive this long! You have no right to question me."

"I am your daughter!" I screamed back, the grief making me brave for a split second. "Your own flesh and blood!"

In response, he buried his heavy boot into my ribs. The air left my lungs in a sharp gasp and for a few seconds I couldn't breathe.

"How dare you raise your voice at me," he hissed, leaning down so I could smell the anger on him. "I have only one daughter, and her name is Caroline."

I turned my head slightly and saw Caroline. She wasn't horrified. She wasn't trying to stop him. She was smirking, her hazel eyes sparkling as she watched me suffer on the floor.

I wondered what I had done in a past life to deserve a sister who enjoyed my suffering.

"Papa, Papa," Caroline said in that sweet, fake voice she used to trick the world. "Don't waste your breath on that thing. It isn't worth it."

A thing. She had reduced me to an object.

My father took her hand, his expression softening instantly. To him, Caroline was perfect. She was beautiful, she was talented, and she had a powerful wolf. She was the prize he could show off to the world.

"If only you were a little bit like your sister," he sighed, looking back at me with nothing but loathing. "I’ve made the arrangements. You’re going to the King’s palace tonight with the other omegas. That is my final word. You can go, or you can end your own miserable life right here. I don't care which."

Caroline leaned down, whispering so only I could hear. "You should be proud, Ariana. You get to die in a King's bed. I hear he’s a beast in every way, in the battlefield and in bed. No woman survives a night with him. But honestly? He’ll probably just kill a filthy dog like you the moment he sees you."

I clenched my teeth so hard I thought they might break and slowly pushed myself up. "You’re all going to regret this," I hissed, blood trickling from my lip. "I promise you."

"Oh, please!" Caroline mocked. "What are you going to do? Haunt us from the grave?"

I looked at them one last time. I finally realized that no matter how much I begged or how hard I worked, I would never be enough. To my Alpha father, my existence was a curse.

I was a shiftless wolf. An Omega with hair the color of winter, a sign of bad luck in our myths.

All my life, I had heard the names

"Ugly wench."

"Pathetic loser."

"Cursed wolf."

I had almost started to believe them.

"I will not die," I blurted out and the room went silent. "I will survive tonight and I will survive the night after that."

Caroline chuckled. "Are you deaf? No one leaves his room alive."

"I will. Then I will make you pay," I said, my voice low and cold. I balled my fists so tight my nails drew blood from my own palms. "Every single one of you."

Slap!

My mother’s hand caught my other cheek. "Shut up! Now, go pack your garbage and get out. You have a King to meet."

As I turned to leave, Caroline’s voice followed me like a poison.

"You’re going to die tonight Ariana and I can't wait to hear the news."

  • His Royal Breeder   Chapter 144

Eight years laterThe training grounds of the Castle hadn't changed much in eighteen years, but I certainly had. I wasn't the naive little girl playing with glitter anymore. I stood tall, wearing leather training gear that matched my father’s, my long dark hair tied back in a practical braid."Focus, Ariana," my mother, Lysandra, said. She was sitting on a stone bench, looking exactly the same as she did the day I was born, the perks of being a Dark Witch and a Vampire Queen. "Your magic is reacting to your heartbeat. Slow it down.""It’s hard to slow my heart down when Dad is trying to take my freaking head off!" I shouted, ducking just in time as a heavy practice sword whistled over my head.My father, Ezekiel, stood across from me and he wasn't even breaking a sweat. He looked at me with those piercing periwinkle eyes, a playful smirk on his face. "If you can't handle a simple sparring session, how are you going to handle the Council of Elders when it's your turn to rule? They

Ten years later Ariana's povThe sun was shining brightly over the castle training grounds, but I wasn't looking at the view. I was staring at a small wooden practice dummy that was supposed to be a bad guy."Okay, Ariana. Just like we practiced," my Mom said. She was leaning against a stone pillar, looking beautiful in her training gear. "Don't think about the fire. Don't think about the shadows. Just feel the energy in your tummy and let it out slowly.""But Mom," I complained, crossing my arms. "The energy in my tummy feels like a bunch of angry bees. If I let them out slowly, they’re just going to sting me!"My Dad, Ezekiel, laughed. He was sitting on a bench nearby, cleaning his big silver sword. Even though he’s the First vampire and super scary to everyone else, he always had a soft smile for me."The bees won't sting you, little wolf," Dad said, his periwinkle eyes glowing with a bit of mischief. "They just want to play. You have to be the boss of the bees. Tell them where t

Ezekiel's povThe weight of the old parchment felt like lead in my hands. It was a letter from a life I had tried to bury, written by the woman who had once been my entire world.I sat by the window of our bedroom, the moonlight spilling over the cursive handwriting that I knew so well and every word felt like a heartbeat from the past.Dear Ezekiel,If you are reading this letter, it means I am already long dead. My breath has left me, and I have finally found the rest I was looking for. I have missed you every single hour of every single day since that terrible night. I still see it when I close my eyes, the night we fought against the demon Dracula. We sent him back to hell, and we lost our friend Zayn in the process.I know how you think, Ezekiel. I know you blame yourself for every drop of blood spilled that night. I know you hate yourself because you feel you failed to protect me and our child. But most of all, I know you despise what you have become. You vowed to kill the mons

Calhoun's pov At the council chambers in the kingdom of the Blackfyres. I walked through the massive double doors, my boots clicking loudly on the marble floor. I was tired. My muscles ached from the tension of the night, and my mind was still playing back the image of Lysandra standing in that dark street, surrounded by my fallen guards."She's even more powerful than I imagined." I said to myself. The twelve Council members were already seated at the long, stone table. These were the elders of the Blackfyre clans, they consisted of men and women who had lived through a hundred years of war. They looked at me with sharp, hungry eyes, waiting for me to tell them that the Dark Witch was dead or that she had turned into a monster."Well?" Elder Silas asked, his voice like dry gravel. He leaned forward, his gnarled hands gripping the table. "Is the threat gone? Did she show her true face?"I took my seat at the head of the table and leaned back, crossing my arms. I let the silence s

Lysandra’s POV The restaurant had been like a dream, but the walk afterward felt even more magical. The air in Tarsus was cool, and the streets were mostly empty, bathed in the soft, amber glow of the old fashioned lamps. I tucked my arm through Ezekiel’s, leaning my head against his shoulder. My stomach was full, not just of blood, but of the rich flavors of a dinner I thought I’d never enjoy again. "You were right," I whispered, our footsteps clicking in unison on the pavement. "The chocolate in that dessert was fucking awesome... I could taste every single bean. It was like music in my mouth." Ezekiel chuckled, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. "I told you. Being a vampire doesn't mean the world loses its color, Lysandra. It means the colors get brighter. I want you to have it all. The magic, the strength, and the simple joy of a quiet walk at night." We turned a corner into a narrower street lined with tall, sleeping buildings and then I felt a sudden shift in the air

  • His Royal Breeder   Chapter 139

One week later Ezekiel's pov I stood there on the sidewalk, looking at the glowing sign of the restaurant, and I honestly couldn't believe it. Three years. It had been three whole years since Lysandra chose this life. Today was the anniversary of the day she became a vampire hybrid, the day she left everything behind to start a new, strange life in Tarsus with me.I felt her hand in mine. Her skin was cool, just like mine, but the way she squeezed my fingers felt so warm and full of life. I turned to look at her, and my heart did that familiar little flip. Her brown eyes were wide and beautiful, shining under the streetlights. Every time she looked at me like that, all my worries just melted away."Did you really have to do this, Ezekiel?" she asked. She was smiling, but I could hear a little bit of nervousness in her voice. She turned her head to watch the people walking past us. There were families laughing as they walked out the door, and couples holding hands as they went in

The sun peeked through the curtains the next morning, but I wasn't greeted by a sense of peace. Instead, I woke up with a dull, throbbing ache in my jaw. It was a reminder of everything that had happened the night before. I laid there in bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to believe what I had

The darkness was the first thing I felt. It wasn't the soft darkness of sleep, but a heavy, wet darkness that smelled like old coins and rot.
