*Trisha's POV*

“Trisha, table four!”

“Roger that!” I collected the tray of drinks from Maureen and pushed through the crowd of half naked ladies and bare chested men and arrived at the table in no time. “Here and enjoy,” I smiled brightly before making my way back to the bar.

Well, this is how my life has been. After my university education, I thought I'd finally go to medical school and get my medical certificate then become a doctor like everyone else but then, father died and we had to use the money, sell some of our stuff to give him a burial befitting a wolf of his demeanor. Father was the beta to the Alpha but after his death, the royal family forgot all about us and mother died suffering from depression, and I was left to survive my cruel fate, and here I am.

Mother left me to my nanny to take care of, and she had no good job, so I was left to look for a good job that'll sustain the both of us, and so I begun working as a bartender in this club. The salary was okay since it could pay the bills and feed us, so I'm not complaining. A medical student turned bartender. Hard luck, huh?

But it's fine. At least, I can survive on this, and I have a mate who loves me so much and supports me. I'm happy.

“Evelyn!” Maureen called and I chuckled. “You're spacing out again. You don't want the boss lady eating you up.” She teased and I laughed.

“Sure, sure. My shift is going to be over anyway.” I smiled and attended to the customers.

When my shift finally ended, I washed up in the staff bathroom and changed into the clothes I brought to the bar before putting my shoes on.

“Slow down, babe. You don't wanna break a leg.” Maureen chuckled.

“Today is my birthday, Maureen. I saw Preston's call a few minutes ago. I think he has a surprise for me.” I smiled as I added finishing touches to my lips.

“Wow, that's lovely. You know, I envy you guys' relationship. Jason is an example of a spectacular mate. I wish I could have someone like him.” Maureen sighed.

I stood up and patted her shoulder. “Don't worry, babe. You'll find your mate soon.” I hugged her and started rushing out.

“If there's cake, reserve some for me.” She shouted to my hearing and I chuckled.

“Sure!”

When I got out, I boarded a cab to Preston's apartment. I couldn't wait to see what he had planned for my birthday today. Jason's father was the new beta and they were well to do. We've been together for 4 years and he has supported me in diverse ways. He was the best and I couldn't ask for more.

After the cab dropped me off, I paid and took one last look at my mini mirror, arranged my hair and exhaled, waiting to be blown away by this year's birthday surprise.

As I walked to the door, I couldn't understand why but a feeling of anxiety rushed through my system. I had a hunch that something wasn't right and when I got to the door and heard groans and moans, it only justified the feeling I was having.

What was going on?

I reached for the door and turned the doorknob, pushing open the door slowly. The room was dimly lit and I held my chest, thinking he was just trying to scare me before the real surprise came.

When I stepped in and shut the door, my ears picked up a sound from the bedroom. Being a wolf, I was the type who saw during the dark and so I didn't bother to turn the lights on and followed the sound up the stairs to Jason's bedroom.

I pushed open the door and my heart dropped to my stomach. The room was dark but I could see two people on the bed.

I cleaned my ears because I recognized that voice. It was Ella's voice.
