LOGINI walked through the balcony to deliver a scroll to Daman’s throne room, I heard his voice cold and unnerving as ever speaking with the guards. I hid by the door.
“We found the culprit my lord, her name is Kayla Anderson, one of the students”. Ethan replied facing downwards. Alpha Daman stared up at Ethan, a painful glint in his eyes. “Where is she?” “She escaped, before we could find out. I apologize, my Lord”. “And her household?” He cut Ethan off coldly. “She’s the daughter of king Anderson, the ruler of a large kingdom. She has only one sibling called Heira” Ethan said. “Get my white horse ready.” He ordered and took up his sword lying on the table. Instantly my feet froze where I stood, I stopped breathing, my whole blood stopped flowing instantly . I turned and stared around. He was walking out. I knew from the sound of his steps. Oh! no I trembled. I looked for a place to hide but there was no place. If I turn and run away he would definitely know someone was there. He might see my shadow. He was getting closer, each step he took made my heart tremble. The only thing around was a uniform. A purple pinafore dress perhaps one of the maids had left there after the day’s work. I slid into the dress instantly pulling the purple cap close enough to shield my face. I took a deep breath and clutched the tray on the floor tight. I would pretend like I was one of the servants. I could sense his shadow that fell on the floor. He was close enough. The shape of his sword is visible. He walked out. I turned to the opposite direction with the tray. He walked out. He looked more deadly than ever, he walked with anger, his fingers clutching the sword tightly, his guards walking behind him. His mere presence made me halt on my track, my breath quavering, goodness, I have never been so terrified all my life. My fingers were visibly shaking. The tray fell from my hand and bounced on the floor. Shit! Daman stopped walking, the guards turned to stare. I knew instantly that I was gonna die today. My breath seized. My bones froze. Slowly Daman turned towards my direction. I pulled the purple cap more down to my face, I knew if I continued standing there he would suspect that I was an intruder. So many ideas rushed into my mind. Do I pretend to call Jamema and run as though to go get her. That’s terrible. This is the same guy I have moaned on his bed several nights, What if he recognizes my voice. I fell to the floor instantly. Pretending to get a cut I dug my jewelry into my leg, and watched satisfactorily at the blood gushed from it. Then I leapt away. The sparkling white tiles stained with blood. The cap is still over my face. I knew Daman had walked away long ago. I ran into the hostel, the hostel was messed up with clothes. Mia ransacked the whole room. “Oh goodness, Kay you are here” “Guess what? Kay. Hason is finally gonna mark me on my eighteenth birthday” “He wants to show me to his parents” “Kay what dress do you think would be more beautiful to wear and go see his parents” “Kay, come on, what of this dress, okay I think the flare is too much, Kay take a look at this one” Goodness Mia said so much at a time. If only she knew that I was in deep trouble, she would shut the fvck up. I packed my bag, stuffing all my things at once into the big bag. “Where are you going, Kay you didn’t tell me you were traveling and by the way, school hasn’t closed yet” “Come on Kay, can you stop this your odd attitude and talk to me” Mia held my arm causing me to stop and stare at her. Gush I wished this girl could just shut up and let me think straight. If she weren’t my best friend I would have yelled the hell out of her. I tried so much to remain calm. “Mia please if anyone asks you a thing in school tell them nothing about me and my whereabouts, please, Mia” I begged her. She folded her arms in her chest standing in my way. “Well that’s is if only you tell me where you are going,” “I am going nowhere Mia!” I half yelled and walked out. I eloped far away from Daman’s territory.I leaned my back on the wall with my eyes shut expecting the worst, cold tears strolled down my cheeks. “Even if I am ever gonna break apart one day. I just wanted to make that cruel Alpha feel what pain could be…I just.. just” tears choked me. Suddenly I felt the flames, the burning sensation. It was heavy. The tent was on fire. I could feel my skin burning from the heat. I curled to myself. There was nothing I could do to get out of this place. The tent was ablaze and the whole place filled with thick smoke. I coughed and gasped for breath. The fire was getting closer. The burning sensation on my skin was painful and unbearable. I collapsed to the floor. I felt a new energy inside of me, it was strange, at first it felt like I was being electrocuted. My body shook vigorously and then the lightning flashed from my eyes, brightening the whole tent, like a thunderstorm. Instantly, the fire ceased. The smoke stopped. There was almost no trace of fire in the tent. What…! What just
Today is the final day for the project. The students gathered under the thick canopy of a tree, its massive branches stretched like umbrellas filtering the sun into gentle beams. The ground beneath was cool and quiet, while Mr. Draco read the project manual. I sat with my team. Our green shirts were uniquely designed. “After you have successfully collected the leaves. Each specimen will be examined for color, texture, and vein patterns. You will compare them against a field guide to identify the field species.” He stopped and started almost instantly. “After this there would be further analysis in the lab where they would be tested for photosynthetic activity and medicinal properties” “Get yourselves ready, it will kick off in the next few minutes”I took a deep breath, my palms were already sweaty. “ You can do this” I said and parted myself lightly in the back. Kassandra walked up to me panicking and begging, I was a bit startled. I have never seen her so desperate for a thin
The loud sound of the Mar. Draco’s voice woke us from sleep. I stood up. We took turns in taking our baths. And after being dressed. The commander began reading out the manual in his hands. “For today, you will go with your group in search of the listed species of plants” “You must correctly label each found plant, the first group to return with the correctly labeled plant, wins the contest for today”The students listened attentively, and soon the project began. We walked deep into the forest in search of the listed plants. The forest was not so thick. I searched eagerly for the leaves. My mind was focused on the green leaves and suddenly I heard a strange sound beside me that made my heart skip. I turned. It was an animal, a wolf. My feet shook, a cold shiver ran down my spine. I stumbled backwards falling on the leaves. The golden eyes of the animal peered at me. It took steps towards me on the floor where I lay. Then it leaned closer to me on the floor. My heart was slammi
Heira’s povI walked to school the next day with cold feet, I felt scared as I stared down at the trouser I wore. What would it mean, when the school star knows of my true identity? The moments flowed in my mind. The way his blue eyes pierced mine. The spark. His voice. When he said, “You..you are a girl”. The slight stutter, the shock. What would it mean now? Would he say it out to the whole schoolMost of the students pulled up in exclusive cars. Students walked out. Girls, in well pressed uniforms stylishly worn, and short flare school skirts. Guys in well pressed trousers and neat sneakers. Walked round slapping hands, giggling, talking about the latest song or the sports headlines. The public transport pulled up in front of the school gate. I took a deep breath and walked into the school compound. My heart is slamming loudly against my chest. I walked to class. Fortunately the class teacher walked in almost immediately, a tall Chinese lady dressed in a suit, her long blonde h
Alpha Daman. In a slightly dark chamber. The wind was getting heavier. The room got darker. I stood and watched the short bald headed man in front of me. As he mixed substances and stared at the open pages of the book. I grew impatient watching the man. “I am sorry, my Alpha, it’s almost done” he mumbled each time his eyes lids puckered in concentration. I stood there, my eyes pinned on him with a clenched jaw, my hands crossed at the back. The wind got heavier, it rushed in through the open window giving the room a cozy feel. Zeus coughed, a croaky sound to clear his throat. He stared up. It was so apparent that he was being careful enough to avoid getting on my nerves. His eyes stared up towards my direction his head was slightly bowed.“My Alpha.. I…I” he stuttered trying hard to mask the fear he felt. “What did you find, Zeus” I asked, my whole attention fixed on him. He peered at the book again before speaking up. “ The arrow used on you wasn’t just an ordinary weapon”
The nigt was calm. I sat on my bed and wrote on my diary. Dear Diary,I don’t even know why I’m writing this. Maybe because if I don’t, I’ll break apart.Every time I close my eyes, I see them. Mum’s smile, Dad’s laugh… and then—blood. So much blood. I hear their screams, and I can’t do anything. I wasn’t there to save them. I should have been. Maybe if I had been home earlier… maybe if I had been stronger…But no amount of “maybe” will bring them back.I miss Kayla a lot— My sweet Kayla. I still hear her voice, you know? Calling me to braid her hair, begging me to share my snacks, laughing that silly laugh that always made me smile no matter how angry I was. Now there’s only silence. The house is quiet. Too quiet.Sometimes I wake up thinking I hear her footsteps in the hall… but when I run to look, there’s nothing. Just the empty walls and my own shadow. The Alpha took everything from me. My family. My home. My safety. He left me with nothing but this hole in my chest where my hea
