Heira’s pov.
In the moving plane, I sat with my friend Nadine who was flipping the pages of a magazine. Oh I can’t wait to get home, I can’t wait to see mum again. It’s been more than eight months now since I left home. I closed my eyes and listened to the music “perfect” by Ed Sheeran, my head phone connected to my ears, I loved it as the plane soared in the sky. “Oh! take a look Heira, Daman got ranked as the youngest billionaire in the world” Nadine said with a tone that was almost a scream. “Daman? Who’s that? is he a musician?” Heira asked, taking a bite of the burger in her hand. “Seriously? Who doesn’t know Daman?” “This is his picture” she showed me the magazine. “Wow, he is handsome,” I said, staring at the guy.’s image. “Come on bae, you don’t just say it like that, the guy is damn so hot, I heard from those who have seen him, that you can’t stare at him without drooling.” “Okay?” I said reluctantly, taking another bite of my burger. “He is very powerful and possesses great supernatural abilities, he can control things with his mind, he can make a person turn into ice, yeah he is that powerful , also he is immortal” Nadine said. “I think this is crap, how can a person control things with his mind?” I protested “And he’s immortal, so if I stab a knife through that guy's chest, he’s not gonna die?” I said I was still lost in my shock. “It’s so real, Alpha Daman cannot be killed. Do you know how many times his enemies have attacked him?, poisoned him? Stabbed him. Daman cannot be killed. Nadine explained while I scoffed. “And yeah, following the research I made about him. I heard that he is very ruthless and has great anger issues. He kills a person at any slight mistake. And whenever he kills an enemy. He leaves a sign behind like a D symbol signifying his name” “Why” “I don’t know—- probably to show that he is not scared and doesn’t deny killing them.” “Wow that guy is surely some sort of god, he kills people and not even the government can stand him” I gave up and picked up the phone. I placed another call across to mum but she wasn’t picking up. Could it be that she forgot her phone somewhere? Dad’s line was also switched off. I couldn’t wait to get home to see my parents, it has been up to ten months since I left home for school. A few minutes later our arrival was announced and some tingles rushed down my system. I unplugged my headset, picked my bags alongside Nadine and waited for my turn before alighting the plane. Stepping my feet outside I paused to inhale some fresh air.— the freshness of American I had dearly missed. Oh how good it felt to be home after so many days. I headed to get a cab alongside Nadine. Nadine is my very good friend in school who wished to spend the holidays with me. When the cab pulled up in front of my fathers house. We both got out and dragged out our belongings and proceeded to the gate. I was angry, the gateman didn’t walk out to help with my bags. I was cursing and swearing to make sure that he loses his job. I knocked once on the gate and getting no reply, I decided to push it open and was surprised the gate was actually opened. Why would the gate to my father's mansion be carelessly opened??? Without the security on the gate?? What the heck was going on? I paused and looked around, noting the mansion was looking more beautiful than the last time I had seen it. It looked very beautiful, but... there was something wrong. I couldn't exactly point it out, but I could feel it. There was something missing. My friend and I dragged the luggage all by ourselves to the house. I wondered why none of the maids had rushed out to welcome or assist me already. I opened the door and the first sight I saw right from where I stood threw me off the edge My heart stopped functioning, my hands shook and fell from the doorknob Nooo!!!! I rushed in, my heart summersaulting in my chest as I felt my eye sight was failing me. But, getting close enough, I held her chest and screamed at the sight in front of me. “What… what on earth happened to them!” Mum and dad lay there lifeless. I crashed on dad’s cold body and shook it in tears” “Dad… please… It's me! Please let this be a prank… dad please” I sobbed with a broken heart. My friend tried to console me, I was almost losing my mind. “Who could have killed my parents, Nadine? Why??” I said between tears. The knife cut on my father’s neck was enough proof they were killed by an enemy. “Look.. look what I found Heira” Nadine said in a tone drenched in shock. I stared at the symbol in my friend’s hand. “This… this is the sign Daman leaves behind whenever he kills an enemy” Nadine’s tone was low and shaky. “Daman?” I asked in a tone that was both shock and disbelief. Wasn’t that the same guy she spoke about on the plane? “What did my parents possibly do to him?” “I don’t know, but this symbol belongs to him” My mind was boiling, those words annoyed every nerve in me. I walked to the window, slamming my hand on my head. I can’t just calm the anger waging inside me like fire. What the hell gave him the guts to walk into my house and take my parents' life. He had the guts to leave this behind. “Who the hell does he think he is” “Where can I find him, Nadine?” I asked and Nadine stared at me with wide eyes. Her eyes almost popped out. She was shocked. “Do you even have an idea who that guy is? He is not an ordinary guy to defeat so easily, nobody can stand in his way.” “I know you are hurt but confronting Daman is the most risky thing to do” Nadine tried so hard to stop me. Right now I just don’t give a fuck who the hell he is. I must make him feel this pain. This pain of watching your world crumble like it never existed. The same pain I feel, right now. Tears strolled down my cheeks as I sucked my teeth. “I know he is a deadly guy already. Where does he live” I asked her. She could see I wasn’t in any mood to be advised. “First is that Daman is immortal, he can’t be killed, he can’t be easily accessed also, okay I think I will have to explain it this way, Daman rules a very strong kingdom. his kingdom is the strongest and most powerful I can speak of. Even the Presidents and rulers don’t toy with him. Strangers cannot enter it. The security is so tough that someone cannot even sneak in without being caught. So sneaking in is the worst possible idea. I lowered my head in deep thought , “Is there no other way to enter his kingdom?” “I heard his school is currently running a sword tournament. The winner gets a scholarship to attend his school and be one of his students but one thing is that it is strictly for male only.” Nadine explained while I stayed calm. I walked upstairs to my room. My room was cool just the way I had left it. A king-sized bed stood at the center, dressed in silky white sheets and a thick cream duvet, with pillows of different sizes piled high like clouds. A velvet throw in deep gold lay across the foot of the bed. A big red teddy on the bed. I sat on a chair in front of my mirror and glanced at my reflection. I picked the scissors on the table and pushed into my hair. Those fresh memories of the days mum packed my hair in a ponytail just before I left for school were vivid in my mind. Tears strolled from my cheeks and rolled down my face. I cut my hair. It fell down in strands. I arranged it to fit a guy’s hair. I wore a loosely fitted white shirt and trousers. I looked like a boy, a young high school boy. Nadine walked in and gasped in huge shock. “What…what are you doing, dressed like this” Nadine’s eyes were too wide as they pierced at me in shock. “I am participating in the contest, I will enter his kingdom and kill him myself” I said. Nadine laughed, a dry mocking laughter. “That guy is immortal, Nobody can kill him, you are only going to risk your dear life, Daman is very ruthless, he doesn’t spare anyone” Nadine said. But I never gave a damn. The blood flowing in my vein was pain and revenge. I walked out. My girlie self, the girl with soft eyes and long hair vanished. I walked off as a guy, Leo Houston. The morning sun hit on my face causing me to groan and shield my face. I opened my eyelids slowly and turned off the alarm that had been beeping for a long while. Today is not school day, it’s Saturday and I can’t help but feel so good, my lips stretching in a smile. I picked up my phone lying beside my bed pillow. And turned it on. A lot of messages flowed in causing my phone to beep. I glanced at the phone, those messages were from the school chat. I didn’t open it. I turned on the music “ Dancing with your ghost” by Sasha Sloan. And plucked on my headphones. I walked to the shower room and brushed my teeth. I walked out and stared at the room.A king-sized bed stood at the center, dressed in silky white sheets and a thick cream duvet, with pillows of different sizes piled high like clouds. A velvet throw in deep gold lay across the foot of the bed, adding a rich, elegant touch.Against one wall sat a sleek marble-topped desk, with a gold lamp, a few leather-bound notebooks, and
I was there, in the deep end of the water, my body limp, my hands barely showing on the surface before disappearing underwater. My eyes were closed, I fainted but somehow I could hear their voices. Am I dead??? Why can I still hear their voices? But I can’t move or even open my eyelids. No matter how I tried . It seemed I was faraway watching this.Noo!!! He screamed again in a tone filled with panic.Without thinking, he dove in, the shock of the cold water forgotten. His arms sliced through the water with desperate speed until he reached me. My eyes were shut, my hair fanned around my face like dark silk. For a terrifying moment, I felt too still, too weightless in his arms.“ please—please don’t do this,” he muttered, dragging me towards the edge with every ounce of strength in him.Pulling me out, he collapsed to his knees beside me, his hands trembling as he tilted my head back. People shouted around him, but their voices were static.“Breathe,” he choked, pressing on my chest.
I walked into the gate dressed in my uniform, a blazer, navy blue and embroidered school crest on the chest pocket. Crisp white long sleeve button down shirt, neatly pressed trousers and striped ties. I walked into the compound, my eyes staring around in admiration. This guy must be freaky wealthy and classy to own such a school. The school compound is breathtaking, like a scene from a magazine. Towering glass-and-marble buildings gleam in the sunlight, their reflections dancing on the spotless tiled walkways. Manicured gardens burst with colorful flowers, and tall, graceful trees provide cool shade along the paths. Fountains sparkle at every corner, their gentle splash filling the air with calm. Luxury cars hum quietly as they pass through the grand, wrought-iron gates, while uniformed guards stand alert but polite. Every detail — from the polished benches to the golden school emblem shining at the entrance — whispers of prestige and quiet, effortless wealth. I walked into the adm
The contest was way bigger than anything I imagined, the guys who showed up were huge and masculine. I was almost invisible in their midst. A blonde haired lady in a suit walked up to address the contestants who were possibly half a million individuals. Really everyone longed for the prize, his school. I noticed the shock in the lady's face when she spotted me among the men.“Hey what’s your name, small boy?” while the other guys laughed.“I’m Leo,” I answered. “Okay I believe you are fit for what we are here to do” she said and turned to the rest of the crowd.“The contest will kick off in an hour's time, get yourselves lady, anyone defeated goes home straight”. Just in time, the contest resumed. I could swear I saw him.Yes, it's him. Alpha Daman. So many guards walked with him, two were in his front. He walked in their midst with slow graceful steps. He wore a black cloak with a bold D on its chest.I was freaked by his look. He is really young, and terribly handsome, and hi

I walked through the balcony to deliver a scroll to Daman’s throne room, I heard his voice cold and unnerving as ever speaking with the guards. I hid by the door. “We found the culprit my lord, her name is Kayla Anderson, one of the students”. Ethan replied facing downwards. Alpha Daman stared up at Ethan, a painful glint in his eyes.“Where is she?”“She escaped, before we could find out. I apologize, my Lord”. “And her household?” He cut Ethan off coldly. “She’s the daughter of king Anderson, the ruler of a large kingdom. She has only one sibling called Heira” Ethan said. “Get my white horse ready.” He ordered and took up his sword lying on the table. Instantly my feet froze where I stood, I stopped breathing, my whole blood stopped flowing instantly . I turned and stared around. He was walking out. I knew from the sound of his steps. Oh! no I trembled. I looked for a place to hide but there was no place. If I turn and run away he would definitely know someone was there. He mi
