MasukEmma's POV
Three weeks later…
The sizzle of the stake filled the kitchen, indicating to me that it was cooked to perfection. I turned off the stove and wiped my hand on my apron. The dinner was ready and now I waited for Draven to come back home.
Draven left for a business trip the same night while I was still asleep and I did not bother him as he is usually very busy during those trips. Yesterday I found out that he came back to the pack three days ago and today he called me to tell me that he was coming home tonight.
I was elated. Today was our wedding anniversary and I was so happy that he remembered.
I finished arranging the dishes on the table and lit up the fragrant candles. It was the first time we were going to face each other after that night, I wanted it to be special.
Maybe his feelings for me have changed.
Maybe he was going to say that he loves me.
Maybe I will get pregnant with his child and we can finally start our life together.
My train of thought was stopped by the sound of Draven’s car entering through the gates. I shot up from my seat, my heart was racing and I was extremely nervous. Alpha Draven walked inside the house and threw a nonchalant glance at me.
I could feel my face burn red, I lowered my eyes and said, “You are back…”
The man kept silent; he walked in and stopped right in front of me. I could feel his bone-piercing gaze on me and for some reason, the temperature of the room seemed to drop drastically.
After a moment of silence, he said abruptly, “I need you to leave!”
“What?” My mind went blank.
I felt as if the land underneath me pulled away. Unable to believe my ears, I asked him, "What did you just say?"
Draven stared at me with no emotion in his eyes and explained himself, "Stella has woken up from the coma. We don't need you anymore."
I clenched my fist, was that it? Since she was here, was he going to toss me out like a used tissue paper?
"What if I don't agree to leave?" I asked, making him raise an eyebrow. This was the first time I ever dared to disagree with him and so far, it did not look like he liked it.
"What makes you think you get to call the shots here? Do you see yourself as the Luna of this pack?" His disgusted eyes scanned me from top to bottom and said, "Did you forget your place just because I married you? You are nothing but a shameless orphan Gamma Austin of our pack adopted out of goodwill. You should be grateful that we even let you stay in our pack. You are not even worthy of living here, let alone dreaming of becoming the Luna."
Something seemed to have clutched my heart and was ripping it mercilessly. I could feel the tears pooling in the corner of my eyes. I muttered, "But… But that night…"
"What about that?" He cut me off coldly before I could even finish my sentence, "Don't tell me you are foolish enough to believe it meant anything to me. Remember this, Emma, you schemed your way into this marriage. You can sleep with me a thousand times but you will never have my heart."
My mouth opened and closed as if I was about to say something but nothing came out of my mouth. Draven loosened his tie and walked past me, saying, "I want to see you out of this house within a week."
I grabbed his arm and pulled him back, "No, I am not going anywhere."
The poker expression on his face shifted to shock, he pulled his arm out of my clutch and said, "Emma, don't test my patience."
His eyes were darkening and his Alpha aura was choking the room but I did not care. I said, “I am your wife, Draven! Not your dog to leave when you ask me to. We are not even divorced yet, you can’t make me leave.”
"Divorce? Do I need a divorce to kick you out of my house after knowing what you did three years ago?"
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Stop pretending, Emma. Stella has told me the truth. It was you who stabbed her with a silver knife that night!"
"What?" I was shocked. What was he saying?
My mind was in a mess after hearing his words. Why would Stella lie and accuse me of something like this? I didn't even meet her the day the accident happened.
I looked at his face, it was evident that he had believed her.
I asked bitterly, "Would you believe me if I said I didn't do it?"
"You are accusing her of lying?"
"I don’t know what is wrong with her but yes, Stella is lying.”
Alpha Draven grabbed my neck and raised me to his face level. His clutch was so tight that I felt the corner of my eyes darken due to suffocation. With no time, I was clawing his hand, fighting to free myself from him.
"You don’t deserve to even mention her name." He threw me to the ground when I was just about to pass out. While I was still coughing and trying to catch my breath, I heard him say, “You were jealous of Stella that I chose her and not you, so you used her as a pawn to make me marry you. You threatened her life just to get your way. Emma, you are a despicable woman.”
You are a despicable woman- his words rang inside my head.
Alpha Draven did not wait for me to say anything and intoned, “If you still have some decency left within you, get out of my house.”
Emma's POVThe sterile, crisp scent of antiseptic was the first thing that drifted into my consciousness, replacing the suffocating smell of smoke and burning metal. Slowly, painfully, I forced my heavy eyelids open. The harsh glare of fluorescent lights made my vision blur, but as the room came into focus, the first thing I saw was a pair of dark, familiar eyes watching me with raw intensity.Draven was sitting in a chair right beside my hospital bed. He looked exhausted, with dark circles bruising the skin under his eyes and faint, healing scars tracing his jawline. The moment he realized I was awake, a look of profound, overwhelming relief washed over his face."Emma," he breathed, his voice rough and cracked with emotion. He instantly grabbed my hand, squeezing it gently."D-Draven..." I croaked, my throat feeling like sandpaper. "What... what happened? Where...""Shh, don't force yourself," he murmured softly, brushing a stray lock of hair away from my forehead. His touch was gen
Emma's POVThe silver surface of a shattered metal container lay on the floor right in front of me, reflecting the roaring flames. I looked down, and my breath caught in my newly formed throat. Staring back at me weren't my human eyes. They were a brilliant, glowing silver. Thick, snow-white fur coated my powerful new form, radiating an ethereal, ancient light that seemed to push the dark smoke away actively. The white wolf. The same magnificent creature that had haunted my dreams for years, the one I thought was just a figment of my imagination or a guardian spirit, was looking right back at me. It wasn't a stranger. It wasn't a dream. It was me. I had a wolf. I had always had a wolf.Xavier stumbled backward, his ash-gray wolf form tensing as his paws scrambled against the debris. A low, disbelieving whine escaped his throat before his bones cracked, and he hastily shifted back into his human form. He stood there naked amidst the fire, his eyes wide, staring at me as if he were l
Emma's POVThe deafening roar of a gunshot sliced through the air, but before the bullet could even leave the chamber, the world erupted into a blur of raw, primal fury.Draven didn’t just break his chains but rather shattered them. The sheer volume of his alpha power exploded outward as his body expanded, skin tearing away to reveal coarse, midnight-black fur. In a fraction of a second, a massive, terrifying wolf burst from the constraints of the metal chair, the steel links snapping like brittle twigs. With a ferocious snarl that shook the dust from the rafters, Draven launched himself across the space, tackling Xavier to the ground just as the gun went off, forcing the bullet to stray wildly into the ceiling.Xavier didn’t hesitate either. As he hit the concrete, his own bones cracked and shifted, his body morphing into a large, ash-gray wolf. He snarled, snapping his jaws shut around Draven’s shoulder, and the two apex predators crashed into a stack of metal containers, initiating
Emma's POVXavier's smile only widened, completely unbothered by my horror. "Surprise."Something deep inside me snapped at the sheer casualness of his betrayal. All the fear and helplessness I had felt over the last hour morphed into a boiling, uncontrollable rage. "You psychopath!" I screamed, my voice echoing off the high walls. The entire warehouse went dead silent. "I thought you were my friend! I trusted you!"Xavier actually looked offended by my outburst, his eyebrows knitting together in a hurt expression. "Psychopath?" he repeated, taking a step toward me. "Emma, everything I have done, I did it for you.""For me?" I laughed hysterically, the sound bordering on unhinged as tears pricked the corners of my eyes. "You kidnapped children, Xavier! You took my babies!""I kidnapped obstacles," he corrected smoothly. The cold, logical way he dismissed my children's lives made my stomach turn violently.Across the room, Draven visibly strained against his heavy chains, the metal lin
Emma's POVBefore anyone could respond to Draven's final, devastating words through the link, another voice suddenly cut through the psychic connection, shattering the fragile silence."Alpha, I must say, I am touched."The entire forest seemed to go still around me, the rustling of the leaves dying down into an eerie, suffocating quiet. This voice was entirely different from before; it was no longer distorted by anger or filtered through a distance. It was confident, deeply amused, and terrifyingly close."You care so much about your family that you are willing to die for them," the man chuckled, the sound vibrating directly against the walls of my skull. "Unfortunately for you, I care about Emma just as much. And I will prove to her I am not a coward.”I heard the phone being hung up. I could not believe that Draven had succeeded in luring the man here. I hid behind the tree, slipping into the long wait of his arrival.Fifteen minutes later…Three black cars pulled up in front of th
Emma's POVBranches scratched against my arms as I ran deeper into the forest, trying my best to follow the direction Trace and the Alpha had disappeared into earlier. My breathing had already become uneven from running for so long, but every time I thought about stopping, the image of Draven leaving with that tense expression on his face forced me to keep moving again.Even though he tried his best to stay calm, I could tell something was wrong.I pushed another branch away and slowed down eventually, realizing the forest around me had gone strangely quiet. That was when I saw it, a massive factory hidden between the trees. I immediately stopped moving and slowed down on my feet. Is this the old factory that Ashel mentioned? The place looked abandoned from afar, with rusted metal walls, broken windows, and old gates covered in dirt, but the armed guards patrolling around outside made it obvious that the building was very much active. My heartbeat quickened instantly. What the hell wa
Emma's POVThe hum of the airport was a blur in my ears as my focus remained on Desiree’s face.“Desiree?” I involuntarily called out her name, causing her to look up. The usual haughty confidence that had been always there in Desiree’s eyes were replaced by flickers of shock when she us.She came
Draven's POVThe voice on the phone, which was still till now, flickered with a hint of surprise, “Is that so?”The man looked at me with pleasantness beaming from his eyes, “What do you want us to do now, boss? Should we force him to sign the stepping-down agreement?”“No need for that. The whole
Alex's POVDesiree froze on her spot and looked at me and Robin simultaneously, “What? Was I not supposed to say that out loud?”I narrowed my eyes as I gestured toward the tattoo on the grainy surveillance photo, “Do you even know what this means?”Desiree scoffed, a smirk playing at the corners o
The air was thick with tension as I watched Traces disappear into the hallway, his silhouette fading into the distance of the Pack house. My heart twisted with unease. The children. Where were they? Were they safe? Every second that passed felt like an eternity, the weight of uncertainty pressing d
