CHAPTER TEN: Forbidden Kiss

His hand tightened around my neck. Nails digging in my flesh. I was like a limp deer in front of a hungry lion, a hawk with broken wings cornered by a cobra, no escape, helpless.

His palm pressed against my throat more. His slender fingers felt like tendrils around my neck. I trashed and buck, tried prying his fingers away, and clawed my fingers on his wrist uselessly but the more I resisted, the faster I ran out of air. Small ragged gasps escaped my throat, desperation to breathe overtook me.

I looked into his eyes. It was burning with void and darkness as my lungs burn in pain. My lips curved a sour smile. What pained me more was the thought that my demise is in the hand of the person who once was my savior, my knight and shining armour. How ironic.
