The next morning came too soon. I had somehow gotten some sleep, but I was too excited to settle down fully, so now I was paying the price. Despite the lack of sleep, I was still hyper to think about who’s penthouse I was in! I looked at the alarm clock on the bedside desk and saw that it was only seven in the morning. I did a bit of light reading until I was sure that Kain was awake and moving about.

I get so stuck in this book that the light knocking startles me. Kain’s voice echoes through the door as he says, “Mister Smith, I am going to make some breakfast. If you are up, then come and eat with me. Or else I will get some cold water and-”

I don’t let him finish. Calling out, I say, “I’m awake, no need for any cold water!” I fling the blankets off of me and look around for my clothes. Strangely enough, I find them clean and neatly folded. I don’t remember having them washed or dried. I let
