ログインThe call came just after lunch.Mira was reviewing Sephora’s schedule for the rest of the week when a notification flashed across her screen. One of the executive secretaries was requesting immediate clearance. That alone wasn’t unusual. What was unusual was the expression on the her face when Mira stepped into her office a few moments later. The young woman looked almost dazed.“Mira,” she said, lowering her voice. “You’re not going to believe this.”Mira raised an eyebrow.“What happened?”“It was President Dominic Ainsworth.”Mira frowned slightly.“What about him?”“He called.”“…And?”“He called himself.”That made Mira pause.“Personally?”The secretary nodded.Mira stared for a moment.People like Dominic Ainsworth didn’t make their own calls.People like him had entire departments dedicated to making calls for them.“Did he say what he wanted?”She swallowed.“He requested a meeting with Mrs. Cole.”Mira’s expression immediately became thoughtful.Of course. After everything
Dominic didn’t speak during the entire ride to the hotel. The car door had barely shut before the chaos of the airport, shouting reporters and camera flashes faded into silence. But one question refused to leave him. “Is it true that Mrs. Sephora Cole… is your ex-wife?” He leaned back against the cool leather, jaw tight, watching City A blur past the tinted windows in streaks of glass and steel. It wasn’t the words themselves that dug under his skin. It was the calm certainty in the reporter’s voice. No fishing, no gossip. Just fact, delivered like she already knew the answer. Who the hell was she? His assistant, sat across from him, eyes fixed on his tablet. Even Chelsea, who was pressed close beside Dominic, had gone quiet for once. She’d been going about the flight and the crowds earlier, but even she sensed the shift in his mood. Her usual attempts at conversation had died out. Dominic exhaled slowly. City A. Lucian Cole. Sephora. Everything felt too neatly connected, too
If Dominic was ever aloof, after his visit to City A, he became a shadow of himself. Chelsea was tired to trying to get a reaction out of him. He was barely ever at home and spent all his time at the office. She had complained to even his mother but this time no one could get through him. There was only one thing on his mind and that was moving to city A. Dominic had told his assistant to make the necessary preparations for the move and inform the board members about his intentions of expanding Ainsworth into city A. To his surprise, most of the board members were actually happy about his resolve knowing that there was a possibility that he could pose as a competition to Lucian’s company and this could boost the image of their company. Dominic was more than elated to hear that board members agreed with him. It would make the move much more easier. He decided to celebrate this by going home earlier than usual to relax and prepare for the move that was to happen in three day

The kitchen still smelled faintly of spices and fresh bread when Stephanie walked in like she owned the space.“Sephora! I’ve been looking for you everywhere!”Her voice was loud and her eyes were too bright.Sephora turned fully this time, one hand resting lightly on the counter. Chloe stood beside her, nibbling on a small piece of bread.Stephanie’s gaze dropped immediately.“Oh my goodness,” she said, her tone softening as she stepped closer. “You must be Chloe.”Before Sephora could respond, Stephanie was already crouching down, bringing herself to the child’s level.“You’re even prettier than I heard,” she added gently.Chloe blinked at her, then smiled, a little shy but clearly pleased with the attention.“Thank you auntie,” she said.Stephanie laughed softly. “So polite too. I like you already.”Sephora watched quietly.Stephanie reached out like she wanted to touch Chloe’s cheek, then paused just enough to seem respectful. Chloe didn’t pull away.“Mummy made this for me,” Chlo
Lily’s hands were shaking. “I don’t think I can marry Ethan.” The words hung in the air, for a second, Sephora just stared at her, trying to process what she had just heard. “Lily…” Sephora said softly, stepping closer. Lily began pacing the room, her movements restless and uneven. She pressed her fingers to her temples like she was trying to quiet her own thoughts. “I thought I could do this,” she said, her voice trembling. “I really did. But now that it’s here… I feel like I’m about to make the biggest mistake of my life.” Sephora didn’t interrupt. She just watched her. Lily let out a shaky breath. “You don’t understand. This isn’t just nerves.” “Then help me understand,” Sephora said gently. Lily stopped pacing. For a moment, she just stood there, staring at the floor. “My parents…” she began, her voice quieter now. “They were horrible together. Always fighting. Always shouting. My dad would say the worst things, and my mom… she would throw it right back at him.” “And on
