Wise Old Man

Angelic and William found no record from the dirty storage room, so they decided to return the key back to Mr. Soleman's house.

They were about to leave when the old man called them.

"Wait," he said.

"Is this the record you are looking for?"

William and Angelic wondered why he had kept the record of Marie Anderson.

"How did you know that, that was the record we've been looking for?" asked William.

The old man invited them inside his house again to discuss things he knew about the record.

"I was cleaning room 106 that time when Marie Anderson died. It was the fifth day of September, they were about to leave the hospital since Marie was already fine. However, they were not allowed to go home unless they settle their account. Her father went out to find some money and when he returned after paying the remaining balance he barrowed from his friend, there was a knife stabbed on his daughter's neck. Marie has the chance to survive if the doctor attended her earlier. But since they were poor, the doctor ignored the dying patient and sent her father away. Marie died that day because of the hospital's neglegience to fulfill their duty."

Mr. Soleman's throat ached for a moment so he went inside his kitchen to get a glass of water, but he was still holding the record.

He returned back to the dini g area where William and Angelic were patiently waiting.

"I kept this record with me for so long for I knew that one day, someone will be looking for this. And I wasn't wrong, here you came aski g this from me," Mr. Soleman showed the old document to them and continue speaking.

"Marie's death was mysterious, I was there for almost five hours, but I did not see the person who stabbed her on her neck, even CCTV footage has no record of a stranger entering her room to kill her," Mr. Soleman explained.

William asked if they could take a photo of the old document for they really need it badly for their investigation. But the old man did not agree, instead, he gave them one condition. He would only lend the record to them if they paid him mone,.

"How much do you need?" Angelic asked the old man direct to the point.

"A hundred and fifty dollars," the old man answered while folding the document.

Angelic took her wallet out and gave Me. Soleman the amount he required as payment in exchange taking a photo on the document.

William put out his camera and made sure that he captured all the important details clearly. He captured the document repeatedly to have more copies of it. After taking many shots, they returmed the documents back to the old man and thanked him for keeping the document safe.

William and Angelic left the old man alone in his house and they get back to the car to review the record. However, she noticed that the details including the name of Marie's father and his address was tampered. William remembered the name of Marie's father who was Makar Anderson and it was not the same name written on the record, they thought that the old man had fooled them off. They go back to Mr. Soleman house and confronted him about the tampered document.

Mr. Soleman laughed very hard and took out another document from his coat. This time, that was the real record that they are looking for, Mr. Soleman asked for money again in exchange of the real file. But this time, he asked double the money that he had a while ago.

William paid him this time but Angelic insisted that she must be the one to pay. William said that it was alright and Mr. Soleman gave them the real copy that they need.

Mr. Soleman counted the amount he had on his palm and smiled as William and Angelic left.
