Epilogue I pulled up my hair in a neat bun and glanced at my reflection one last time before I began to hurry around determinedly in search of son Nelson. I needed to get ready so I tricked him into hiding so I could search for him and so far, he is still in hiding and now I have to pretend to search him out even though I already know where he was. I waited a moment, listening for his breathing from around the room. “Found you!” I cried out laughing when as I revealed his small form hiding under the table, the skirt doing a really poor job in hiding him completely. Instead of trying to run, I pulled the child into my grasps in an affectionate hug and began to tickle him, causing him to laugh and giggle. “Let play again” Nelson requested sweetly, lifting his chin up to look at me pleadingly, his eyes, one grey and one crimson. His vampire side was far more suppressed so that he didn’t hold fangs and can walk under the sun without a protective ring like I did. Nelson was thankfull
Iris POV. Long ago, The earth was vast and enriched with the finest of things and mostly dominated by three tribes. The werewolves who were the strongest and also known as shape shifters. The Vampires who are the fastest and also referred to as the night crawler or blood suckers because of their need to feed on it to survive and lastly, the third tribe who are the humans who are seen as the gods abomination because of their lack of strength or anything supernatural like their two counterparts. The two stronger tribes lived in the upper part of the earth while the humans lived in Iko, the only human village. Somewhere in the village lived two elderly couples, Edmund Monet and his wife Grace Monet. One night while they were eating their last supper, they were stunned when a female vampire came knocking at their door. Her hair was wild and untamed and her eyes were like the deep blue sea. She was heavily pregnant and hurt. The meat of her neck tore into with blood gushing out of it.
My hands immediately went up to my neck to feel my necklace around there too before a little sigh slipped out of my own mouth in realization. “I must have left it in the bathroom, it’s not a big deal mother” I said and moved to retrieved it from the single room that was connected to my bedroom. And just like I had imagined, i found it lying against the bath tub and took hold of it before reaching to place it around my neck once again. My mother worried expression relaxed a bit before she came and stood before me, her hands going to grab both my hands. “Iris my child, Remember what your father and I told you the day we had that necklace made for you?” “You said never to take it off?” “Yes and I can see that you have deliberately taken it off today” “I’m sorry moth_” i began but my mother voice simply caught me off. “ _Iris, I need you to swear to me that you will never ever take that necklace off your neck ever again. Now promise me” My lip parted slightly but no word made it out.
I swallowed hard not sure what to say to reply the Prince. I was beyond petrified at this point, preferring to look at the white walls behind his head than at his face that was contoured with naked rage. I’m doomed, that much i knew. There was no way the prince was going to let me go whether am able to offer up a suggestion or not. He had already taken an interest in me, that much I can also tell from the way he was staring at me. It was only a matter of time before i knew my fate. He grabbed me roughly by the chin, forcing my face to stare back at him. A deep frown cresting his rather handsome face still. "We don’t have all night, human, speak up and stop wasting both our time." He growled with irritation. My eyes narrowed to stare at his grey ones before it darted away once again, totally not sure of what to say. My teeth came down hard and met with my lower lip. I almost tasted blood at the impact. It was my only way of not snapping at him. It might get me and my parent killed i
“I’m sorry about your parent but you have to stop crying now” one of the girls in the cell said quietly and I was forced to sniff back more tears before turning to face her completely. She has red ginger hair and beautiful green orbs for eyes as she continued to stare at me.“I’m sorry too but didn’t you lose your family as well? Why are you not sad even“ I asked with confusion and the girl shook her head slightly at me. “Your parent and mine are not the same. Mine gave me up willingly and yours tried to save you at least”I was quiet for a moment, not sure of what to say to reply her. My mind now occupied with the type of parent the girl might have had as compared to mine.“I’m not upset with what they did though. They always made me realized that a day like this would come so I had no choice but to prepare myself for it”I couldn’t help but admire the new girl's bravery. I wished i was that strong from the beginning because the best way to overcome fear is to face it and she was ind
I was left sitting by the corner in the room for another minute or two before i heard a knock against the door startling me slightly. Another knock was heard once again before the door was pushed open when i made no move on my part to get it. I inhaled sharply thinking it was the Prince but was relieved when i realized I was staring at a younger girl and even more, she doesn’t look like one of the lycan. The young girl was average and structured like a normal human girl. She had a tray of food in hand as she came forward and placed it before me. “His Highness, the Prince asked that you be fed and if it’s not enough, I can bring more” I looked away from her face and back at the plate of food placed before me in shock, even more surprised to be staring at mashed potato and some fruits, which is exactly what i had like two days ago. Fresh tears stink my eyes as the thought of my parent crossed my mind once again but I quickly sniffed them away. “thank you” I told the girl, not sure how
Otis POV. It’s being three days since I returned from the human village and I’m yet to see my father. Right now, I’m feeling a bit anxious as I continued to walk down the long corridor leading to the throne room, right where I knew he would be. The throne room happens to be my least favorite part of the palace. I have nothing but only memories of my father reprimanding or barking his damn orders at me to be carried out. I can still remember a particular event where he made me whipped a human maid for spilling wine at him even though it was a silly mistake. The damage I was forced to cause to her bare back that day still hunted me and because I couldn’t get more than a few lashes as compared to what he ordered, my father think me to be a weakling hence his need for sending me to the human village to prove myself. I can already imagine his reaction when I tell him that which he thought he had completely wiped out is still existing and even more living under his roof now. I wonder wha
Iris POV. It's been three days now since I was taken from my village, from my home and away from my parent and brought here. To say I'm sad and dejected would be an understatement because I’m completely broken to my core. Time and time again, the prince had tried to test me with his blood without any success. Like this morning, when my breakfast was brought, I realized the food served was the exact opposite of what I have been eating. Roasted steak and fried potato with garlic sauce. I can tell he is pretty determine to prove that I am what he believe me to be and each time I don’t bend to his will, I see him coming up with new ideas like the change in menu this morning. He seem very tense when he left this morning all dressed in his princely attire while I acted like a ghost all together. The garlic sauce had a weird taste at first but after a few more try, I realized how delicious it was. The steak had a whole different taste in itself and I found myself chewing it down just fine
