Katrina’s POV

Madame Levigne’s eyes bore into me as I wiped down the counter. Her curiosity was relentless, but I kept my head down, hoping she’d lose interest.

“You’re so mysterious, Mae. What was your job in your previous pack?” she asked, her tone too casual to be genuine.

“Nothing, Madame,” I said quickly. “Please, I have so many orders to take.”

Her silence didn’t feel like agreement, but I seized the opportunity to escape and headed to a table to take their order. That’s when the doorbell chimed, and I froze mid-step.

Standing at the entrance was Rosie, holding hands with a man who made my stomach churn. Archer.

“What are you doing?!” I demanded, hurrying over.

Archer’s expression was infuriatingly calm as he tilted his head at me. “Uhm, who are you?”

My jaw dropped. “What?! You know who I am!”

Archer’s POVWhen Alpha Drake found me at my lowest, broken and barely clinging to life, I never imagined he would become my salvation. He didn’t just save me—he gave me a purpose, a way to rise from the ashes of the life I’d left behind. It was with his guidance that I built the Ironclad Pack, a small, inconspicuous group on the outskirts of society.Perfectly positioned to avoid the scrutiny of the Chancellor or any other meddling eyes.On the surface, it was a legitimate operation, a paper manufacturing company. But beneath that, it served as the perfect front.Paper isn’t just paper, not when sulfuric acid is part of the process. That same acid doesn’t just break down pulp—it eliminates problems.Permanently.I didn’t come to this lightly. My hands were already stained with blood, and I’d learned long ago that survival wasn’t for the faint of heart.I never thought about what

I never imagined my life would spiral down to this—a waitress in a quiet, forgotten countryside diner, far removed from the future Luna I was destined to be.The rhythm of my days here was relentless. No breaks, no rest, and the paycheck barely enough to scrape by. Once upon a time, I could have earned my monthly salary here in a single day as a lawyer, back when my life still had a sense of purpose, of direction. Each day, I whispered the same lie to myself: I’m fine. I’m doing good. I’m moving on. But no matter how many times I said it, the words felt hollow. Then, this morning, everything shifted. My heart stumbled when my eyes landed on someone—someone so familiar it felt like the past had reached out and grabbed me by the throat.I couldn’t stop shaking as I stepped back inside the pizzeria. The chime above the door seemed louder than usual, but maybe it was just my fraying nerves. I caught a glimpse of him—Archer. I

Katrina’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, the sterile smell of antiseptic filled my senses, and the soft beeping of machines echoed around me.The white hue of the hospital room made my head swim, but it wasn’t the pain in my chest that tore at me—it was the emptiness.“Mom?” I croaked, my voice weak.My mother’s face appeared, her eyes red-rimmed but full of relief. “Oh, my baby,” she whispered, smoothing my hair back as tears streaked her cheeks. “You’re awake.”Beside her, my father stood stiffly, his arms crossed over his chest as he tried to mask his emotions. But the tight set of his jaw betrayed him.“Where is he?” I asked, my voice hoarse. “Where’s Archer?”My father looked away, his gaze hardening as if he couldn’t bear to answer. It was my mother who finally spoke.“He’s gone, Katrina.”“No.” The word le

24 Hours Earlier…The stale scent of tobacco hung in the air as I stepped into Alpha Drake’s office. The room was dimly lit, the only illumination coming from the flickering fireplace and a single desk lamp.Alpha Drake leaned back in his chair, a predator sizing up his prey. His sharp blue eyes locked on me the moment I entered, the weight of his presence filling the room.Drake was not a man to be trifled with; his reputation preceded him, and I could see why. His eyes were calculating, cold, and predatory—the eyes of a man who’d seen too much and survived it all.“I wasn’t sure if you’d come,” he said, his voice low and measured, yet tinged with curiosity.“I didn’t have a choice,” I replied, keeping my tone steady. “You’re the only one who can help me.”Drake’s lips curved into a slow smile. “And why would the soon-to-be beta of the Smith pack need

Archer’s POVThe hospital reeked of antiseptic and bad memories. I hated every second I spent inside those walls, but I had to be here because Alpha Steven told me to.Damien had woken up.Not that I was relieved. No, far from it. I was angry—angrier than I’d ever been in my life. Angry at him, at the mess he’d created, and at the responsibility he’d dumped in my lap.I shoved the door to his room open harder than necessary, the sound making him flinch. Good. He deserved to feel on edge.He deserved to feel worse than that, but for now, I’d settle for making sure he knew exactly where we stood.Damien looked up at me from the hospital bed, his face pale and drawn. The smugness he usually wore was gone, replaced with something close to shame. I wasn’t buying it.“Archer,” he croaked, his voice weak.I stepped inside and closed the door behind me, the quiet click ringing like a gunshot in the
