CHAPTER EIGHT

Jace's POV

As soon as we pulled up to the brunch spot, we found the Andersons waiting for us. They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries with the Millers.

I noticed the weird look that passed between The Congressman's son Sam and Chantelle. It made me remember how friendly they were at church too. I ignored it, as it was none of my business — I had to scan the area anyway.

The place was a Ritz restaurant and many wealthy socialites frequently came here.

I walked in alongside Louis Hale and scanned the room, assessing the restaurant for any potential threats.

At brunch, bodyguards have to sit down due to the policy of the restaurant. We weren't allowed to just stand around ‘doing nothing’, as the manager, a weird-looking Italian man, had put it. The manager seemed to know the Millers and the Andersons but didn't care.
