Prologue: A Memory From The Past

last update Last Updated: 2021-07-11 16:12:47

It was a cold night at the mansion. There stood a man who was strongly yearning for something from the distant past. He looked over the horizon, gazing at the night sky that enveloped the world with glimmering stars. It was a truly fascinating sight for him. He never got bored of it, no matter what happened.

While gazing upon the night sky, he is deeply reminded of a promise made in the distant past. This promise is significant to him, especially it is somehow related to him, but the reason is unclear as he never said it to anyone. He took a ring out in his pocket and said, "wait for me, I'll definitely fulfill it for you. No matter how long it takes or how hard it is. Your wish is something that should come true."

His eyes are filled with so much passion and determination to keep the said promise to that person. From thinking too much, he fell asleep and dreamed how everything began.

Flashback

It was an afternoon in the garden of one of the most powerful households at that time. A girl was beneath the huge tree while reading a book, humming her favorite song and enjoying the cooling breeze that makes the tree leaves dance. The girl possesses a beauty that others want to have. Hair shiny as the sun, light blue eyes the same as the sky, and skin as smooth as the clouds. Overall, this girl was a perfect woman as she is humble and kind to people despite the status differences.

She was lost in her own world of thoughts which was why she didn't realize a person was coming close to her. She was still humming when she heard someone spoke, "Here you are, I've been looking for you all day." said the person who stood in front of her. She looked up to see who it was, but the sun was bright so she had to cover it with a hand then realized who it was.

"Hey, it's been a while since we saw each other, "Ciel." Where have you been?" said the girl with a smile to the person who came to visit her.

"Nothing really. I had to take care of something, which is why I had to leave for a few weeks. Sorry I didn't tell you," The person said to her as that person sat beside her underneath the tree and leaned on the trunk.

"Hmm, It's okay, although do tell me next time. So at least I'm aware of your location. Don't make me worry like that again, okay?" She said as she squinted her eyes towards that person to make sure that person wouldn't do something like that again.

"All right, all right, will do the next time if I have to go away again. I'll be careful," the person said with a mischievous grin and patted her head to reassure her that everything was okay.

"Hmph, you better do, or else you'll suffer the consequences," she said while playfully puffing her chest to show annoyance.

"All right, I will." the person said while chuckling lightly, then silence fell unto them.

It wasn't awkward or anything, but rather, it was a calming silence between them.

"You remember our promise, right?" The girl asked the person as the breeze continued to hit their faces gently

The person smiled, then looked at her and spoke, "Of course I remember. I won't forget something so important. What about it?"

The girl smiles back at the person, "Nothing really, just wanted to make sure you haven't forgotten it."

The person held her face and said, "I will never forget, okay? I promise"

The girl took the person's hand and said, "That's good, don't ever forget it." She closed her book and stood up while brushing the dust off her clothes. She gazed upon the afternoon sky while she leaned her back up against the huge tree.

The person looked at her curiously, wondering what was the matter with her. "You okay? Is there something bothering you?" Asked the person to her who still sat down underneath the huge tree.

The girl did not answer yet, and the blowing cool breeze's sound was all that the two could hear. There was a long pause before she finally spoke as thoughts filled her mind with many things about the circumstances.

"What do you think will happen to all of us from now on? As much as possible, I would want to avoid conflict with others and especially that person. There's no reason to fight, yet everyone is seeking blood and chaos as if it's normal to them and it won't affect them in any way." She said to "Ciel," eyes were filled with worried and although she tried to sound calm deep inside, she knew if nothing was to be done, the world could be in danger and fall into an abyss, and darkness would dwell for a long period of time. She doesn't want this to happen. All she ever wanted for the world and the ones she loves is to live in a world where everyone is united and no chaos. But the paradise she longs for seemed like a dream and impossible. Like light and darkness, after all, are just 2 sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. All they can do is try to maintain the balance between the two and prevent chaos from spreading.

"Ciel" gazed upon the sky as well, then took a deep breath first before speaking out their thoughts. "Honestly, I have no idea what is about to come from now on. As they said, we write our future; hence, it can change at any given moment and circumstance. You can never truly understand and trust a person. After all, no matter how much you spend with them, betrayal comes from friends and allies. We don't want conflict, but as long as there are people who strive to cause chaos, peace is something we can never have no matter what we do."

The girl smiled and walked a bit ahead of "Ciel" then said, "You're right. This is why we need to try hard not only for ourselves but also for other people. Not everyone has the courage to do so, after all. We need to."

"That's right, no matter what happens, we'll protect them," "Ciel," said while smiling proud of the girl in front of them.

The girl looked back towards him, "Ciel, you know-"

Leo's POVIt's been two hours since the incident, and we finally were able to settle everything. The police started walking back to their respective cars then the detective approached me. He looked at me and handed me a calling card, "Sir Leo, don't hesitate to contact us if you ever need us. I'll send a few men to stay here for a couple of days to ensure everything is good. We'll contact you if ever we find out anything about the person who did this."I nodded, "Thank you, detective, I appreciate it. Be careful on your way back". He smiled and bowed, then walked towards his car and drove off. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. This was one of a roller coaster ride today. Too many problems and investigations left and right. As I started walking back to the building, I noticed that the employees were still in chaos because of what had happened. I clapped my hand loudly to call their attention, "All right, everyone, I know what happened was really frightening. So I'll be cancel

Leo's POV It's been 2 hours since the whole punching thing happened. I was in the living room browsing through some documents, waiting for Kai to wake up. A few minutes passed then I noticed he started stirring up. Luca then walked toward the room to check whether he was awake. He sat up, groaning in pain while holding his cheek. I went towards the room as well. His eyes widened upon seeing us AGAIN. He looks terrified and pissed at the same time. "What the hell happened?" Luca had a deadpan look on his face and pointed his finger at me. "He happened. Leo punched you remember?" It took a few minutes of silence, then that's when he remembered what happened earlier. He looked at me with disbelief. "You punched me? You are literally crazy." Luca rolled his eyes at the remark. "That's because you were saying something utterly bullshit. I mean, who says that to his own brother anyways?" He looked dumbfounded, "What do you mean I said?" "You said that your brother deserved what happen

Leo's POVLuca and I walked inside, and Kai looked surprised and nervous. "W-what are you doing here?" I took a step closer to him and threw a cold smile. "We need to talk right now." He stood up and shouted, "No! There's nothing to talk about. Do you realize you're trespassing right now? Get Lost. Both of you!". Luca then walked towards him and gripped his shoulder very hard, and soon he was squealing because of the pain. Luca forced him to sit down on the couch and talk to us.I sat on the opposite side and cleared my throat. "Are you ready to listen now?". He glares, and Luca squeezes his shoulder again to shut him up. "That fucking hurts!". Luca glared at him, "It'll hurt even more if you keep avoiding us.". He then sat next to me. "Well then, allow me to introduce myself properly. I'm Luca Alistair, a detective. This person next to me is Leo Asra your brother, Tai's boss". His eyes widened a bit when he heard his brother's name. He then looked at me and sneered. "What does Tai's

Leo's POVWe've been driving for an hour and a half, and we finally got to the hospital where Dr. Nes Sharar works. We parked our car and went into the hospital. We were greeted by nurses who were at the front desk. The nurse asked what she could help us with; Luca then asked where Dr. Nes Sharar was."May I know who you are, sir?" She asked politely. Luca took his ID and Badge, "I'm Luca Alistair, a detective. I have a few questions for Dr. Nes Sharar. Is he here today?" The nurse looked surprised a bit, "Oh, Mr. Alistair. Dr. Sharar expected you here, but unfortunately, there is an emergency overseas, so he's currently out of the country. But he did leave you a letter and instructed us to give it when you come by."She took an envelope out from the table and handed it to Luca. We opened it and found a letter with a key inside. "Hello, Mr. Alistair. I'm Dr. Nes Sharar. A friend of

Leo's POVIt's been a few hours since Leo has arrived at his office and started doing his paperwork for the day. So far, Luca hasn't called him, so it's quite a good sign. He was typing on his computer when someone knocked on his office door. "Sir Leo, it's me, Andrea. I've brought the new contracts that need to be reviewed and signed". He cleared his throat, "Come in."The door opens, revealing Andrea holding several documents. She walked towards Leo, stopped right in the middle of his table, and handed over the documents. Leo didn't look up since he was busy typing. "Umm, Sir Leo, Is there anything you would like to eat? It's almost lunchtime. Do you need me to get you anything?"Leo stopped typing and glanced at the clock. It was already 12:30 pm. Just another hour and a half, he'll go back to the hospital and talk to Luca about

  • Irreversible Fate   Chapter 10: The Interrogation Part 1: Mrs. Hudson

Leo's POVIt's been an hour already, and we finished our breakfast. Andrea already went home a few minutes earlier because I told her to. We still have work later on, so she'll be heading to the office ahead of me. Luca and I are still in the private room; we are on the bed and talking about who we would question first. "It would be okay for me to question Celia since she knows me anyway. Then you can probably question the hikers. Let's hope that we'll end up finding out more about what happened."Luca shooked his head, "I understand that, Leo, but I think it would be better if I would do the formal interrogation. She might find it weird for you to interrogate her, especially you're not a detective. Just ask the personal questions later. If you're needed to your office today, then you should go. I can handle it here." He said as he stood up and dusting his clothes.I sighed. Well, in a way, he's right
