CHAPTER SIXTEEN: A kiss from Mr J

Han pull into Jack's house and i let out a gasp as i look up at the building.

I alighted from my car and so did han.

I watched as Jack carried his sister inside and Laura following him.

" He didn't invite us inside " i heard han says and i smile wanly.

" We have to go in nevertheless " i said and walk towards the house as han followed behind.

He catch up with me and i smile.

I think he is getting more comfortable with me.

We walk inside and into the large living room which scream of wealth and tidiness.

I suddenly feel clumsy as i took in the neatness of the room.

Jack and Laura are not in sight and as i am very tired to stand i sat down tiredly on the couch and han did the same.

I bet he is very tired as well and hungry.

Wait a second !!! We haven't eaten anything today.

I scoff slightly and turn to han who look lost as he stare blankly ahead.

Before i could have the opportunity to say anything i saw jack descending the stairs slowly.

Han and I quickly stood up to meet him.

" She's still sleeping. Laura is with her and I'm sure she's okay " he said wearily.

" That's a relief, can i stay with her ? " Han asked and jack look at me surprised.

" Who's he ? " He asked me and i smile to ease the tensed atmosphere.

" He is my chauffeur for four years now and i trust him. As you can see he has been a great help today. " I told Jack and he nodded at han who race off to Maureen's room where Jack has came out.

" Do you think i can trust him ? I have a trust issue. At a time like this i tend to be very careful. I can't loose anyone i love again " He said to me and i sighed.

" Han is a good man although he has a lot of secret he won't hurt Maureen " i said to jack but held unto the information about han being Mr Mike's employee four years ago.

" If you say so " he said as he stare at my face.

I became uncomfortable under his gaze and i look away.

" Can you cook ? " He asked me and i turn to him surprised.

Cook? Why does this man love asking an obvious question? 

" Yes i can " i replied.

" Good, but since you're my guest i will cook for you " he said and walk away.

" Where are you off to ? " I asked as i followed him.

" To my bedroom " he tease and i stop following him.

He turn to look at me and chuckled.

" To the kitchen i mean " i heard him say before continue walking.

I smile shyly at myself and followed him.

I stepped into the kitchen and i nodded to myself.

" When do you learn how to cook ? " I asked him as he get busy.

" When my father died , i had to since I'm living by myself " he replied.

" But you have Laura, isn't she the nanny ? " I asked confused.

" I sent her off when we loose everything. My sister and I sold our only property and become homeless " 

" Yeah, i read about it in the paper. The only mansion left by mayor " i said sadly.

" Yes, but i rebuild everything from the scratch " 

I look at him confused.

" But how come you became so successful within four years ? " 

" You mean as a  swimmer ? " He asked

" No, a business tycoon. I know you're a good swimmer before the demise of your father " i told him and i saw him smile.

My heart dropped to my stomach as i saw him smiling.

" My father has a lot of business partners. They help me " 

" Oh i see, thanks to you Maureen's child will never starve or go wanting " i said smiling and i saw him flinch.

He stop what he was doing and look at me.

" Stop smiling or else i will do it " 

I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

" Do what? " I asked and before i could realized what is going on.

He pull me to himself and stare at me.

My heart began pounding and i wondered if he can also hear it.

" Jack  i ... " 

He cut me off with a kiss and i shudder in shock.

He caress my cheek  with his hand and i responded to him by opening my mouth further.

I held his shirt in my hands and was on a tip toe to match his height.

He pulled away moment later when i am beginning to lost myself in his arms.

" Your cellphone " He said softly with regret in his eyes and i came out of my fantasy to realize my cellphone was buzzing.

" Excuse me, i need to take this " i said and walk out of the kitchen.

I let out a breath that i have been helding onto and peer at the screen of my cellphone.

I debated on whether to pick it or not.

" Hello larry " i said after answering the call.

" You sure better have a good explanation to this " i heard him said angrily and i exhaled deeply.

I couldn't blame him.

" I am not coming home tonight " i said to him and i heard him gasped in shock on the other end.

" What's going on ? Are you okay ? " He asked me urgently.

" I am fine, i am with my dad. I miss him so much " i lied and i heard him sighed in relieve. I can't trust anyone right now except han and I don't wish to jeopardize the new relationship i am having with Jack. I smile to myself.

What new relationship ? My inner voice mocked.

He just gave you a kiss and nothing more .

I shook my head to wave away the voice.

" Good, i will explain to those you miss their schedule today to pardon you. When are you coming back ? " He asked me.

" Tomorrow, i will arrived tomorrow "  i said confidently.

" Good, my regards to your dad then. Bye " he said and hang up.

I sighed and lean against the wall tiredly.

I quickly put a call to my dad and explain things to him.

He told me to be safe and careful and i hung up.

I entered the kitchen and i saw jack cleaning up.

" The dinner is ready " He announced smiling.

I gaze at him and my heart leap for joy.
